Seeing that Carlene hadn’t responded, Maja’s gaze became very calm.

down.

“Carlene is not the Shepard family’s daughter. I suspect she’s the lost princess of the Sanders family, and I plan to

have her do a paternity test with Mr. Sanders.”

Phelps Herrington had already started preparing to investigate Carlene’s background but still reminded lan.

Eric was Edith’s favourite grandson, so hearing Carlene say this made her very upset.

“Did Eric really say that to you?”

Carlene sobbed as she answered, “Is there any other woman by Eric’s side besides me?”

This made Edith think. She gave Carlene a bank card with hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Take this money.”

“Edith, Eric hoped I could join the Raymond family. Now that he’s gone, no one can fulfil that wish.”

Edith’s heart clenched, recalling how Eric and Carlene had been close. If it weren’t for the accident, they might be

And Eric had told her that he’d found someone he liked.

Edith’s favouritism for Eric was profound, so she immediately called lan.

“Your brother planned to marry Carlene. Even though he’s not here anymore, you should fulfil his wish. Marry

Carlene. You’re divorced now.

lan found it hilarious when he heard this, a cold look in his eyes.

“Grandma, are you saying that even if Eric wanted something and he’s gone, I should still get it for him?”

Edith frowned, “He’s your brother, lan. You should know how you got where you are. If Eric hadn’t had an accident,

you might still be in the military. You wouldn’t have had a chance to be where you are now. You’ve taken what was

your brother’s. Why can’t you fulfil his wish? You owe him that.”

lan hung up, staring coldly at the screen.

Edith couldn’t accept this and called again.

lan chuckled and said, “Grandma, if I really got involved with his woman, do you think he’d fight me if he came back

one day?”

And besides, he would never touch the woman Eric loved.

Even though many thought he might have killed Eric, considering the dark battles within the rich families. But he

would never go as far as to take what was Eric’s.

Edith stood up abruptly, her eyes filled with emotion.

“lan, how could you say such a thing? Have you heard something? Tell me now!”

lan hung up. Edith was so upset she almost fainted.

So, she didn’t bring up the idea of lan marrying Carlene again. She just gave Carlene money and told her to find a

place to stay.

lan sat in his office, finishing the afternoon’s paperwork. Then, Selena called.

It turned out Edith had already called Selena in her excitement.

Selena was incoherent, pressing him for answers.

“Is your brother still alive? lan, if that’s the case, you should be ready to step down anytime. Your position was

supposed to be Eric’s, and you must do whatever it takes to bring him back. As long as Eric can come back…”

In her excitement, Selena revealed her true thoughts.

lan listened quietly, his mind filled with the Eric they were talking about.

Just then, Maja walked in.

She was holding some of lan’s recent schedule charts.

lan looked at her, his gaze calm. After a while, he finally said,

“Come here, and I want to hold you.”
