Maureen’s eyes turned colder as she glumly stared at Maja as if Maja was some scheming vixen trying to seduce

lan.

“Penny, would you mind stepping out for a second? I need a moment with lan.”

Maja got up immediately and without any hesitation, headed for the door.

But before she could even close the door behind her, she heard Maureen questioning lan.

“So, are you serious about this designer? What are you planning to do about you and Ms. Sanders‘ situation?”

lan frowned as he found it somewhat amusing because Beck Sanders had also mentioned Ms. Sanders.

But he barely knew her.

“lan, I saw Beck yesterday and he let slip about you and Ms. Sanders constantly exchanging messages. She’s the

darling of the Sanders family. You can’t treat her the same way you treat Maja. The Sanders won’t let you off.”

By the time Maja heard that, she had already shut the door.

She was there on lan’s birthday; Beck had indeed said something to that effect.

The Sanders was a well–known high society family in North America, their beloved princess indeed deserved better.

Maja stood outside, unable to hear the conversation inside due to the soundproofing.

“I have a meeting to attend soon.”

After denying his relationship with Ms. Sanders a few times, lan leaned back in his chair and gestured for Maureen

to leave..

“lan, you need to take a good look at the woman you have by your side. She’s far from innocent, she’d rather

divorce and follow you, just for your wealth and

status.”

lan was tired of hearing about this and promptly opened a folder.

“I have to head to Silverstone Enterprises after the meeting.”

Seeing his resolution, Maureen was so exasperated she didn’t know what to say.

After leaving the office, she glared furiously at Maja.

Maja stood at a distance, watching as Maureen approached her.

Maureen raised her hand to slap her, but Maja acted quickly to catch her wrist just in time.

People around them turned to look, the upper–level employees all knew that Maureen was lan’s aunt, she often

visited the Raymond Corporation.

Everyone was enjoying the spectacle, gossiping about Maureen’s fury.

“Looks like Penny is a real vixen.”

“Mrs. Maureen is usually pretty chill, she must have been driven to the edge.”

Maureen pulled her hand back, giving Maja a cold stare.

“How long do you think you can stay by his side? If lan’s just looking for a fresh face, that’s fine. But if you’re

thinking of joining the Raymond family, you may as well wait for your next life.”

Maja felt a pang of sadness, after all, Maureen had been kind to her in the beginning, had helped her a lot. Now,

Maureen despised her just like Selena.

She opened her mouth but found herself unable to argue with her.

She needed lan’s help, so she had to agree to his terms.

So, faced with Maureen’s accusations, all Maja could do was nod, saying, “Goodbye, Mrs. Maureen.”

Maureen’s pupils narrowed, and she stormed off.

Maja stood still, feeling everyone’s eyes on her and sighed.

When she entered the office again, she saw lan hanging up the phone, she had no idea who he was talking to.

“Mr. Raymond, shall we head to Silverstone Enterprises?”

lan had mentioned going there the night before, she didn’t stall and had already contacted Judson on the way.

lan nodded, called Jeff over to give a few instructions, and then followed Maja to Silverstone Enterprises.

What Maja didn’t expect was to find Nathan in the conference room at Silverstone Enterprises.

Wasn’t Nathan supposed to be at Crystalbrook Valley?

And to her surprise the person to greet her and lan was none other than Nathan.

At that moment, lan sat by the window, Maja by his side, and Nathan brought in two cups of water.

When Maja’s eyes met his, there was a hint of surprise.

Nathan gave her a little smile and placed the cups of water on the table, saying,

“Mr. Raymond, Penny, why don’t you have some water? Mr. Judson will be here soon.”

With that, Nathan was about to leave the room.

It was then that lan said, “I’d prefer a cup of coffee.”

Nathan immediately turned back, but Maja pushed the cup of water towards lan.

“You haven’t had breakfast yet; we’ll eat after the meeting. Drinking coffee on an empty stomach might upset it.”

Jan just wanted an excuse to keep Nathan around a bit longer. Hearing Maja’s concern, he couldn’t help but smile,

feeling a bit better.

“But I still want coffee.”

Maja pulled out a breakfast biscuit from her bag, “Why don’t you eat this first?”

She had prepared it specially, to be a competent secretary, she always had to be ready for anything.

lan raised an eyebrow, didn’t immediately take the biscuit, and instinctively glanced at Nathan.

Her ex–husband was right here, and she was doing this without any hesitation..

lan chuckled, took the biscuit, ripped it open, broke off a piece, and popped it into his mouth.

Maja was afraid that lan wouldn’t eat the things she had prepared, so she also bought the most expensive items

from the supermarket.

But no matter how expensive, in his hands, it still seemed too cheap.
