Neil’s complexion turned pale, his trembling lips indicating a desire to speak but finding it difficult.

Meanwhile, Cristina seethed with angrily, “Maja, Alright, so this is how you’ve always seen us! If it

wasn’t for you, would your father have treated me and Tricia like this? Tricia’s condition worsened after

that! You’re such an ingrate.”

“You want to use my money to buy a house? That depends on whether I agree or not. You might not

know this, but your father has already transferred part of his shares to me, 10%. I have a say in the

company too.”

Upon hearing this, disbelief filled Maja’s eyes.

Weren’t those 10% of the shares left to her by her mother?

She couldn’t help but look at Neil, who intentionally avoided her gaze.

“Dad, the 10% shares in Ms. Perkins’ hands, did you transfer yours to her, or did you give her the ones

my mom left for me?”

Maja fixed her gaze on her father, trying to decipher every minute expression on his face.

Caught off guard by his daughter’s question, Neil felt somewhat embarrassed as he explained, I

thought you were still too young, and when you have children, I’d give those shares to them. Apart from

the shares I transferred, what your mother left for you wouldn’t be shortchanged a single cent.”

There shouldn’t be any misunderstanding about this.

Maja’s hand hanging by her side slowly clenched.

“So, the shares in Cristina’s hands are my mom’s?”

“Yes, because transferring shares was complicated back then, and the shareholders were causing

trouble. If I transferred my shares, I might lose control of the company. I held 40% of the shares, and

your mom held 10%. As long as these shares didn’t leak out, it was the same no matter whose hands

they were in. Aren’t we all family?”

Maja slowly closed her eyes, feeling a sourness at the tip of her hose.

It was that soft, negotiable tone again.

If Neil were cruel to her, she could just hate him outright. But his actions were not purely evil or good,

which left her feeling incredibly uneasy.

Seeing his daughter’s distress, Neil quickly interjected, “If you’re bothered by this, I can transfer the

10% shares to you right now…”

Maja offered a faint smile and shook her head. “No need. I only want the ones in Cristina’s hands. My

mom was the one who struggled with you from the start. Cristina only came to enjoy the fruits after your

company took off. Why should she get my mom’s belongings?”

Finally unable to contain herself after Neil mentioned transferring the 10% shares, Cristina angrily

exploded and fired back.

“That’s just your mom’s misfortune, not being able to enjoy it. Who’s to blame? The company was built

by your dad alone. He can give the shares to whomever he wants. I’m his rightful wife now. You want

your dad to buy you a villa? Fine, but it has to be in my name.”

“Enough.” Neil pulled her back. “Cristina, you should speak less.”

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Neil addressed Maja. “Maja, your mother’s passing was an

accident. I’ve been trying to make up for it over the years. But I can’t manage both the company and

you on my own. She didn’t mean any harm. She has no plans to kick you out. You chose to move out

of the house, and I tried to talk you out of it. As for marrying lan, isn’t that good for you? Many girls

want to marry him but don’t get the chance.”

Pausing momentarily, he continued, “I’ll transfer thirty million to your bank account later. You can use

that money to buy a house. I didn’t think about this, and I apologize. But you need to apologize to

Cristina first. She’s your elder, after all.”

“I won’t apologize to her.”

Seeing his daughter’s unwavering stance, Neil grew increasingly angry. “Then I won’t transfer the

money to you.”

“I’ll give you the money when you’re ready to apologize to her.”

Seeing the cold expression on his face, Maja smiled faintly. “Dad, you might have to wait a long time

then. I need to go back to my hometown. I’m going to visit my mom’s grave. If you have time, you

should go see her too.”

Maja’s words were delivered calmly as she glanced at the staff member standing beside her. The staff

member, who had inadvertently become aware of the family dispute, felt somewhat uncomfortable. He

quickly waved his hand. “Ms. Pennyfeather, we have other houses to look at besides this one. Would

you like to see them?”

Maja nodded, preparing to leave, when Neil erupted in anger and questioned.

“Are you still in touch with that guy?”
