lan stared at her in disbelief, seemingly unable to fathom that she could utter such cold words.

He opened his mouth, suddenly at a loss for words.

Nothing he could say would make a difference to her.

He bowed his head, suppressing his emotions, “Please just leave”

Maja didn’t want to linger either. Without responding, she saw the blood still seeping from his neck and turned to

Tyler, “Get a doctor to re–bandage his wound.”

But lan just sat back on the bed, hands gently holding the bed rail, “I don’t need your concern. Just leave.”

Tyler quickly grabbed his sleeve, “lan, stop talking.”

lan was never one for sweet talk. Like now, he was clearly hurt by her harsh words, yet he had to put on a show of

disgust to hide his pain.

His lips trembled for a moment before he fell silent, his eyes quietly closing.

Maja felt uneasy, clueless about what had transpired between them.

Not long ago, they were fighting baddies together in that skyscraper, sharing an exhilarating embrace.

But now.

Without another word, she turned and left.

The sound of a cup smashing against the wall echoed behind her.

She returned to Beck’s hospital room. Beck was diagnosed with two broken ribs. Seeing her return, he immediately

said, “Don’t argue with him in case Selena comes after you again. lan’s injured, the rest of the Raymond family will

probably show up at the hospital.”

Beck’s injuries would require at least a week in the hospital, and lan would likely be hospitalized as well. They would

be seeing a lot of each other in the coming days.

Maja ignored what he said and asked, “Do you need me to bring anything for you?”

Beck did need some fresh clothes, but he didn’t want Maja to run the errand herself.

“You should rest. Seriously, take a break.”

Maja had mostly recovered, just noticeably thinner these past few days.

She stayed with Beck for about forty minutes.

In the neighboring room, once lan was re–bandaged, he was itching to leave the hospital.

The doctor hurriedly advised, “You should stay a few more days.”

But lan was too restless, the thought of those two being next door made him uncomfortable.

Tyler knew that he couldn’t persuade lan to stay, so he quickly proceeded to handle the discharge procedures.

But when he returned to find lan heading for the elevator just as the doors were closing, he quickly reached out to

stop them. The doors reopened.

Maja was in the elevator. Seeing them, she furrowed her brows.

Tyler thought lan would choose another elevator, given their unpleasant exchange just then.

But lan was the first to step in.

Maja pressed the button for the first floor, not asking where they were headed, and kept silent.

The atmosphere in the elevator was particularly stifling, with no one breaking the silence.

Upon reaching the first floor, the doors opened.

Maja was the first to step out, lan and Tyler trailing a few steps behind.

Neither of them had driven there. Tyler’s phone suddenly rang. It was Fitch.

“Did lan and Beck really fight?”

Tyler responded in a way that he could create a fake urgent scenario, “What?! My dad’s condition is that serious!

I’m coming right away!” And then he hung up.

Fitch was taken aback.

Tyler looked at Maja and quickly walked up to her, “Penny, I have to go. Can you give lan a ride?”

He quickly hailed a taxi and disappeared in a flash.

Maja quickly retorted, “Tyler, but I.”

She had only planned to drive Beck’s car back, not to swing by Greenfield Gardens.

Seeing her dilemma, lan sneered coldly. He didn’t even know what he was expecting.

He also moved to the roadside to hail a cab

Just then, Maja’s voice came, “Mr. Raymond, let me give you a ride.”

“No need.”

Maja took a deep breath and said, “Then I’ll call Jeff to pick you up ”

She pulled out her phone, but noticed lan was watching her, his gaze deep.

Maja quickly gave Jeff the address. Just as she was about to get into the car, she heard him ask, “What do you like

about him?”

Was there something he couldn’t provide her with?

Maja initially wanted to tell him that he was mistaken, that she was only concerned about Beck tonight. After all, she

had been recuperating at Beck’s villa these past few days. Beck had been a great help, and without him, she

wouldn’t know how to handle matters at Raymond Mansion.

But she didn’t feel the need to explain herself to lan.
