Chapter 22

Cornelia's POV

"Ready?" Colton asked us with half whispered.

I nodded. "Let's go."

Today is the day. We will sneak into The Parker's Mansion.

We have planned this for about one week. And We made sure that Colton's team do their works perfectly. We didn't want any single mistake. We wanted it to be perfect.

We prepared everythings according to our plan. Well, Colton's hacking team has been working to hacked the CCTV system. Alex and Tori paired to dig more information about Parker Corporation. Sean gave us encouragment. And last, but not least, is the execution time. It's my, Kallum and Colton's job.

And now is the time.

We didn't enter the mansion from the front door of course. We are not stupid. We choose to enter from my old room.

We choose that room because that room is the nearest room to the library. And from Alex and Tori's research, that room was empty. No one used that room since I left.

However, my old room is in the seconde floor. That make us need more effort.

We will climbed to that room using a rope. We have made sure before that there were no guards around here.

Colton and Kallum worked together to make the rope stucked on my balcony. And yes, fortunately my room has its balcony.

"Okay, so I will climb this first. And then I will help Lia to climb this rope from above. And you, you need to be prepared if Lia fell. You need to help us to straighten the rope." Colton said.

"No, I will climb first. You do the supposed to be my job!" Kallum protested.

"No, I can help her from above." They glared at each other as they kept fighting with half whispered voice.

"Guys! We need to get this done as soon as possible. We are not here to fight over small things. We are here to get this mission done!"

They shut their mouth.

"Okay. Because Colton is the plan maker, you go first. And Kallum, you go last."

They both nodded.

Colton started to climb the rope as I held back my breath. My heart beat so fast. It's not because I fall for him, it's because I was extremelly nervous. But it seemed that my nervousness was unreasonable, Colton looked so calm yet his movement was fast. He looked like a spider. We don't even straighten the rope. The rope kept wobbling, but he kept climbing until his feet reach the balcony.

My.. turn.. I was completely nervous. I'm afraid of height. My palm was sweating. Sweat was falling from my forehead.

"Lia, Come one."

"I.. I.. I can't."

"Of course, you can, Lia. I will pull the rope from here, so you don't need to climb. Okay?"

I let out a nervous sigh. I grabbed the rope. I let out a squeal when Colton started to pull the rope. I immediately shut my mouth, afraid that someone might heard my squealed. I got higher and higher. I could feel that even though I shut my eyes.

"Got you." Colton said as he held my hand and pulled me up. I let out a relief sigh. Colton threw the rope to Kallum. Kallum started to climb and arrived at my balcony.

I led the way to the inner side of the house. We moved slowly, very slow. Sometimes we would hide behind a door or a cupboard, the mansion has busy people who live here. Pathetic, all the house assistants were like a slave now. All the happy face that I have seen before become an old face with wrinkles. I have left for 4 years, but that's not enough years to made those wrinkles. They looked so tired and lifeless.

We succeed to enter the library as I observed the house assistants. The library is very big. We have a half-circle shape of library. In the middle of the library, we have a reading room. Entering that room made my memory floating around my head. Library was my playground. I often played and read books here with mother and father.

"So.. how can we search for your father's favorite book in this huge library?"

"Uumm.. Check one by one maybe?"

"Are you kidding me? There is no way for us to search it one by one!"

"Okay, okay. As I can remember, the book color is brown." I looked at them with unsure look.

"That's it? Only that? Nothing else?"

"I'm trying to remember! Just shut up for awhile!"

They let me think in a silence.

"I try very hard on remembering it, but I can't remember anything other than that. I'm sorry guys. However, I'm sure that the book color is brown. Father always carried it. He adored that book very much."

"Lia, almost all of the books here are brown."

"I know. Now don't complain anything, let us begin to search it."

We separted our ways. Colton checked the right part, I checked the middle part and Kallum checked the left part. We searched the book in silence.

I opened the books one by one. The books with brown color were my priority. I checked the books. I opened every page, checking every page. I have checked more than 30 brown books. But none of them had father's last letter.

"Do you guys have the book with the last will?"

"No." Both of them answered me in the same time.

"It's useless, little sis. Just give up. We can't find the main evidence. If we waste more times here, they will find us."

"No, I don't want to give up. Father is a smart man, he must has thought about this repeadly."

I started to think while walking around.

"If Sean said that it's very important to him. Then we should not think about it as 'the last will is important'..."

I investigated it with my brain. I thought twice or thrice.

"...Maybe it means the book is important. Or maybe the content of the book is important..."

I thought very hard while I'm still walking around the library. I elaborated every informations that I have got. Colton and Kallum were focusing their gaze on me with serious look.

"...And if Sean said that it's his favorite, then we shouldn't think the book is his favorite. We should think that the cover is his favorite, maybe? Or maybe content is his favorite.."

I stopped. I thought I have found the answer...

"I got it!!"

"You what?" Colton and Kallum asked in the same time and tone.

"I got it! I know the answer! Did you guys listen to my explaination?"

They shook their head. They heard me, but they didn't understand.

"Let me explain it to you. I will only explain the answer that I have found. If you paid attention, first, I said the maybe the book is important or the content is important. And second, I said that maybe the cover is his favorite or the content is his favorite. If you compare these two, these two have one similarity. Can you guess what?"

"His favorite and important part of the book is... the content?"

"Exactly! That's the answer!" I said happily.

"Then what is the content? What is something important to him and his favorite?"

"His family. I believe that family is an important part to him and family is his favorite." I said proudly. Without even a single hesitation.

"Lia, you are so genius!" Kallum said to me and hugged me.

"Then, what if.. it's not true?"

"We won't know if we don't try it, right?"

"Then what should we do now?"

"We should check it inside the reading room. Father always kept family books inside the reading room."

We walked to the reading room in a rush. Once we have entered the reading roon section, we began to search the book everywhere, we checked every drawer and every shelf.

"Found it!" Kallum yelled.

"That's it! How do you know about this book?"

"Father always kept our childhood photos and our memoriable photos here."

"Do you think it's the right one?" Colton hesitate.

"I'm sure." Both Kallum and I answerd Colton at the same time. We laughed, we really are brother and sister.

We opened the book. And my eyes started to become wet because of my tears. There were pictures about us. We were the perfect happy family. All of those pictures were full of laugher and very memoriable.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. That hand gave me courage. It was Colton's hand.

As we opened each page, we found a piece of paper slip inside of the book.

We exchange look. I took the paper and opened it. My eyes wondered around. I read the header, and it's already obvious. It's written as 'To our beloved, Kal-kal and little Lia.' It's directed to Kallum and I. I kept reading the letter.

'To our beloved, Kal-kal and little Lia'

'We believe that our kids are smart kids. And when you read this letter, it means that we are already dead. It's our last will, dear my Kal-kal and little Lia.

To our little Lia, don't be sad if we left you. You are not alone, you have a brother. His name is Kallum. He really is a loving brother, but we have to hide him to keep him save. And if you are going to find him, search for Sean Steward first, Kallum is with him. And once you find him, tell him that we have gone to heaven and show him this letter. He will believe and love you.

To our Kal-kal, we are so sorry dear. We don't mean to left you. It's just for your safety. And Kallum, sorry we will bother you again. We left Lia on your hand. Please always keep her safe.

And most of all, we left the company and all of our wealth to you two.

And last, we love you. We will always love you.

Father and Mother'

I shed tears and tears bagen to runing down to my cheeks. I removed it away so it didn't stain the letter. I saw Kallum's eyes became red too. I believe that he endure himself from crying.

"Okay, we have got what we want. So now let's get out of this place."

We got out this mansion quickly. And met Alex, Tori, Sean and Colton's team outside. They were waiting in a save place so no one knew about their presence.

We entered the car to left this mansion.

I took a glance at the mansion.
