The Prince Can Always Hear The Secret Servant Chanting The Qingxin Mantra Before Going To Bed
Chapter 22: That Doesnât Matter! Itâs More Important To Save Her Life!
Qi Ci pointed at Xiao-Yuâs sleeve and said: âThereâs blood on your sleeve.â
Xiao-Yuâs face turned pale all of a sudden. As she covered her sleeve subconsciously, she immediately realized how futile her reaction was, to the point of being ridiculous.
Qi Ci was also feeling a bit at a loss, and he didnât intend to pursue things. However, after seeing Xiaoyuâs reaction, he felt that something wasnât right.
The silence spread between them, but it was suddenly broken by a mournful cry.
That cry came from the room behind them. It was the voice of a woman. The cry was extremely light as if the person crying was feeling weak, suffering through an extreme pain that left her without the strength to speak out loud âXiao-Yu, Xiao-Yu, where are you? it hurts so much, wuu wuu.â
Qi Ci was about to set his eyes on the room when Xiao-Yu suddenly knelt in front of him. She was sobbing as she kowtowed and begged: âGongzi, I beg you, please donât tell anyone about this. If the Steward finds out, we will be driven out of the Princeâs Residence.â
Qi Ci couldnât stand seeing her kneeling like this, so he quickly reached out to help Xiao-Yu up. Xiao-Yu wiped her tears and pulled Qi Ci into the room.
The doors and windows were closed and the light was dim. The room wasnât decorated, and it looked a bit simple, with two cramped beds in the middle of the small room. The air was filled with the smell of bitter medicine.
On one of the beds, there was a delirious woman covered in a bloodstained quilt. It was a mixture of dark red and bright scarlet, showing an incredibly alarming sight. The womanâs face was pale, her eye bags looked blue and her long hair looked disordered.
Xiao-Yu wiped the tears that kept falling down as she carried the wooden bucket filled with hot water into the room. Then, she took a clean handkerchief, half knelt by the bed, and wiped the womanâs face and hands.
Qi Ci said: âWhat happened to her? Is she sick? Why didnât you call a doctor?â
Xiao-Yu shook her head: âWe donât have any money, and sheâ¦. her child is dead. It was too obvious that she was four months pregnant since her belly had grown a lot. She was afraid that she would be kicked out of the Princeâs Residence, afraid that she wouldnât be able to find a job, so she ate incense ashes and aborted the baby.â
Qi Ci was stunned for a moment, feeling as if his throat was being strangled, making him unable to say any words.
Xiao-Yu sobbed gently: âWhen I came back that day, I was shocked to see her covered in blood and fainted in bed. Next to her, there was a bloody meatball. Iâ¦.Iâ¦.â
Xiao-Yu began to talk incoherently. For the past few days, she had been scared all the time, and in order to conceal her feelings from her friends and relatives, she would have to work on her own, even for jobs that needed more than one person. Because of this, she was on the verge of collapsing.
Suddenly, someone pressed her shoulder. It was a warm and strong grip, making Xiao-Yu stop stuttering as she looked up with her eyes filled with tears.
Qi Ci said: âDonât panic, you should change her into clean clothes first. Iâll take her to see a doctor. She canât go on like this.â
âBut we, we donât have money to pay a doctor.â Xiao-Yu sobbed.
âI have money. Hurry, before itâs too late. Iâll be waiting outside, call me when youâre done changing her clothes.â Qi Ci said, looking very relaxed.
Xiao-Yu was still hesitating: âBut if anyone sees us weâll beâ¦. Gongzi, youâll also be implicatedâ¦.â
Qi Ci said: âThat doesnât matter! Itâs more important to save her life!â
He said without hesitation, resoundingly and powerfully.
Those words carried a type of charm that comforted Xiao-Yuâs heart. Once Xiao-Yu recovered her senses, she hurried to stand up and obey Qi Ciâs orders.
Qi Ci waited anxiously outside the room for a while. After hearing Xiao-Yu calling for him, Qi Ci immediately entered the room, picked up the woman who was already quite weak, and then ran out in a hurry.
The road went out smoothly. Although people saw them with surprised eyes, no one stopped them.
Until they reached the gates of the Princeâs Residence. After all, it was the Residence of a Prince and no one could come and enter at will.
Two tall guards stopped them at the door, loudly questioning them about what they were doing and why they were exiting the Residence. Xiao-Yu, who had never been in a situation like this before, shrank herself behind Qi Ci in fear, not daring to say a word.
Qi Ci, on the contrary, was prepared. He took out the Token given to him by Bian Zhonghua and handed it to one of the guards.
The two guards looked at each other, no longer asked more questions, and raised a hand to let them go. However, the Token wasnât returned to Qi Ci. Although Qi Ci was reluctant to leave it behind, he didnât have the energy to get it back. Instead, he kept carrying the sick woman on his back as he ran towards a medicine shop in a hurry.
