Chapter 21:

The Ex-wife of the Billionaire

"So, did you enjoy?" Sein asked, gearing the car in reverse direction.

"I did," I replied gruffly like my dog just died.

"What happened to you?" he asked, his tone suspicious.

I brushed off the topic and said, "How was your day?" Even a mean bitch's voice couldn't overtake mine. I sounded off, definitely not like me.

"Well someone has got their panties in a twist, but, truth to be told, minus the part with Samuel, everything was awesome!" He sounded very happy, like never had I witnessed before. What made him so happy? Definitely the girl back in cafe.

He constantly made conversations with her without batting an eye, their hands brushed many times, much to my dismay and the woman couldn't tie her hands to her self. At one point, when I yelled his name, he did not acknowledge my words and devoted his concentration to the woman totally. I had to storm there and drag him to listen to me. All the way my blood boiled but I just feigned a smile at them, not to cause any suspicions about my behavior.

"Sein?"

"Hmmm.."

"Do you like her?" I asked slowly, in a whisper, so that Ethan wouldn't wake up who was sound asleep in the back seat. It was 8, his bed time already.

"The girl back in cafe?" I asked when his features twisted. He was pointing out who.

"Oh her?" I nodded.

"I guess so, why?" he asked cautiously.

"I am just happy for you." I shrugged nonchalantly and turn towards the window biting my lip hard. I did not want him to be with her. Maybe, I was just being paranoid.

And what about today? The way Samuel reacted was just unacceptable and inappropriate. The ounce of respect he had had, for his hard work, in my heart vanished in the cold november air. My heart tugged a little at the memory of our fight today. The man changed drastically in the course of five years. What exactly happened to him? Or maybe, he changed his behavior when I met him.

I just hoped for a change in his views and behavior. People would grow distaste towards him if he continued like this.

"What are you thinking so much about?" Sein asked. I definitely could not straight answer him, saying Samuel.

"The girl, how is she like?"

He gave a small smile to himself and his eye twinkled in darkness. My heart flipped a little but I brushed that feeling off. "She is definitely the most beautiful girl I've come across. But, she definitely is the most beautiful to my heart. I never get bored of her conversation. Even is she is silent, I can consume in the silence and stare at her all day." The smile didn't vanish even after a minute and I wanted to thrash his face with my clutch.

God, that woman couldn't even keep silent for more than thirty seconds, then when did he watch her silent frame. In his dreams, perhaps. Now she was already invading his dreams, too?

Okay, stop right there Sofia. Why the hell was I questioning these meaningless sentences to myself. Maybe because he never had ignored me before and he totally pissed me off by not paying enough attention to me in the cafe?

Nevertheless, I tried hard to push those thoughts away but could stop doing so.

"Tell more about her."

"Why?" he asked confused as to why was I acting like that. But I could care less.

"Just say," I snapped at him.

He sighed in annoyance and said, "She is radiant all the time. Wearing bright colours, laughing all the time. Even uncle likes her. Oh, not to forget, she cooks well. Even though I did not taste yet I hope to do soon. What if I fall in love with her?"

He gave a nervous laugh but it had a lot meaning hidden behind it. But that did not catch my attention, the L word did. He loves her? Oh my Jesus, how could he fall in love in such a short time when he just confessed me by the staircase not even a week ago? Was she the girl he spoke on that day. How could men skip from one to another within the snap of fingers. That was just unexplainable concept which needs professionals to study it.

"Any thing wrong?" he asked me, concerned.

Fake concern. "Nothing." I smiled at him, tentatively and looked at the back to make sure Ethan is secured and was still sleeping soundly. My baby. The best he is. I would die before he becomes someone like Samuel or Sein. Those both wereplayers and stupids. Sein's more manly than Samuel though. I should forever be grateful to him for saving me today.

Cold winter air started and was already wrapping everyone in shivers. Just imagine how the december would turn out. I shivered a little and sent the windows up to cease the incoming breeze. My teeth shuttered against each other and I was feeling extremely cold. Thank goodness, that I had grabbed a jacket for Ethan before leaving.

"Do you want a jacket Sofia, you are freezing." Sein looked concerned over the fact and panicked a little.

"I am okay. Just feeling cheeky," I replied, giggling. Oh my God, what happened to me? I guess the cold from the atmosphere was getting to me. The temperature comparatively raised up by the time we reached mansion, much to my happiness.

"See ya tomorrow, Sein." I gladly started to jump out of the car and secure Ethan in my arms.

"Wait, I am staying for dinner." He grinned at me and followed me inside. The guards by the halls greeted me good evening in Spanish and I gave them a nod of acknowledgement.

"Oh, you are back? Dinner's ready." Valery entered my room.

"Shh..." I said and indicated her that Ethan wasn't to be disturbed in sleep. She muttered a quiet "sorry" and signalled me to come out of my room. Sein already went into the dining hall to meet Phillipe.

"How was the surprise?" She asked me, ecstatic.

"Wait, you knew?" I asked her baffled. I did not knew there was an input from other people as well.

"Of course, everyone planned this together as you weren't going through easy days." I nodded in agreement and tackled her into a sudden hug of appreciation for the care they were taking."Thanks a lot," I whispered in her ear showing my gratitude towards her.

"Don't be silly, now come on." She dragged me to the dining room where Ivanna was serving Sein, Phillipe and my parents. Everyone was engrossed in their conversations and were laughing at something I was unaware of.

"Come here, sis!" Phillipe pointed the seat between him and Sein for me to occupy and I obliged to his offer.

"I hope your day went well, sweety." My mother smiled at me and I smiled back in gratefulness. Though they weren't a big part of my life, they were still trying to acknowledge me in their absence and cared for my happiness despite their busy schedule. The act they pulled today was  the best example.

"Thank you, mom and dad."

"Any time, my pearl," My dad said, and I laughed at the endearment he chose for me. He first used diamond but pearl was better compared to a diamond, as an endearment.

The conversation flew smoothly and I expected Samuel and Alice to join. I had learned that he went out for a dinner date with Alice, and I internally gagged in distaste.

"Bye Sofia," Sein said and I just replied him the same with a neutral voice. I did not knew why but my interest in a conversation with him vanished at that time due to anger. I did not even knew why was I feeling angry.

*****

"She may confront you," Ivanna said after the dinner.

"Who?" I asked, curious.

"Alice."

"Why would she?"

"That is because me and Valery made a conversation loud enough for her to hear. We discussed about how Samuel was falling for you again."

I looked at both the ladies on the couch dumbfounded, and anger built inside me. "Why did you do that?"

They flinched at my harsh tone. Valery explained me in detail though pushing Ivanna back. "We overheard Samuel asking Alice to pack as they were leaving soon. It would take a lot of time for Alice to fall for Sein's charms. But if once they leave, we are done. So, if Alice will confront you now, we will record it. Most probably she'll do it tomorrow. And then, you can show it to Samuel and you know how to carry on from there." She wiggled her eyebrows whilst the extension of the plan was playing in my brain.

So, he decided to leave, huh? But what might be the reason behind sudden change of mind.Or was he too planning something? After all, I would never take Samuel easy. He was unpredictable then and could be now, too. The plan by the girls wasn't bad either. Indeed, it really was planned accordingly. I did not know why, but my inner feelings said that the confrontation was going to be drastic.
