Chapter 1419
Lord Protector Novel
For a moment, Lacey was at a loss for words.
We canât even keep the headquarters building of Linton Group and bankruptcy is imminent.
Iâm about to owe an extensive amount of foreign debt. Where do I get the money to pay the penalty?
Amid her dilemma, Emily stood up. âExcuse me, Sir. How much does Lacey owe you for the breach of contract?â
âTwo billion,â the business partner said.
âLacey is facing some difficulties now, and she canât afford so much money,â Emily said, âNever mind.
Seeing that she was once my best friend, Iâll help her this time.â
Emilyâs generosity was greeted with rapturous applause.
âMs. Clemons sure is righteous.â
âAnd because of your righteousness, Iâve decided to make you our business partner.â
âItâs our honor to work with you, Ms. Clemons.â
Mary sneered. âMs. Hinton, arenât you gonna thank Ms. Clemons for helping you?â
Lacey endured the humiliation and said, âThank you.â
âThatâs it?â Mary asked.
âHey, Mary, thatâs where youâre wrong,â Emily corrected Mary, âIâm helping her for old timeâs sake, not for her gratitude.â
âYouâve misinterpreted me, Ms. Clemons,â Mary said, âThey told me that they have prepared a big gift for you just now. I know you donât like receiving rewards for your work, and you will certainly not accept this big gift that theyâre giving you for no reason. So, why donât you let them present you with this gift as a token of their appreciation?â
The realization dawned on Emily. âAh, I see. I sure wonât accept their gift out of the blue. But since itâs a token of appreciation, thatâs a different story. If I donât accept it, Iâm afraid they will think Iâm looking down on them.â
âWell, arenât you going to bring out your big gift?â Mary prompted Lacey.
Dawn balled her fist. âTheyâre so f**king good at blowing their own trumpet.â
Lacey knew that no matter what, she couldnât possibly run away today.
Despite the reluctance in her heart, she put on a calm face and said, âI would like to give you the New Linton Group building.â
The crowd was instantly stirred.
That building is worth at least one billion.
To hand over that building to Emily Clemons, their âsisterhoodâ sure is as solid as a rock.
Of course, everyone could guess the inside story, suspecting that it was Emily who forced Lacey to do this.
However, no one pointed it out.
âAlright then, I shall gladly accept this gift,â Emily grinned with satisfaction.
Mary took out a contract and handed it to Lacey.
âThis is the transferal agreement that you entrusted me to prepare. Please sign here.â
Lacey picked up the pen with her trembling hand, feeling as though a knife was piercing her heart.
However, as she was about to sign her name on the contract, a voice suddenly sounded at the door, âI object!â
Lacey, Dawn, and Nancy trembled at that familiar voice.
Itâs Zeke!
Zeke is back!
However, the euphoria didnât last long.
Even if Zeke has come back, so what?
Not only has his power been abolished, but he has also been stripped of his title as the Great Marshal.
Heâs a commoner now.
He has no ability to turn things around.
The three of them turned back, looking at Zeke at the door.
Laceyâs eyes reddened. âZeke, youâre back!â
Zeke smiled. âLacey, I didnât come back too late, did I?â
Lacey nodded.
âYou must speak up for us, Zeke...â Dawn grumbled.
Zeke waved his hand at Dawn. âDonât worry. I know all about it.â
