Chapter 345
Lord Protector Novel
Nancy was annoyed. âWhy are you such a busybody? Weâre just going to the bathroom!â
Zeke gave her an approving look.
At that moment, it was like he had forgiven her for all the wrongful accusations just because of her protective streak towards Lacey.
âIâm not stopping you from going to the bathroom, but I need to make sure that you wonât sneak off halfway. How about I get two of my men to follow you?â Michael asked.
Nancy knew that her plans were foiled, so she had no choice but to sit back down with a huff. âFine!
Weâre not going.â
Lacey sat down as well.
Zeke patted her shoulder gently to comfort her. âLacey, youâre going to become the head of the Hinton family soon. Arenât you excited?â
But before Lacey could say a word, Nancy spat at him, âShut up!â
âNot only did you make us lose Linton Group, but youâre also the worst liar in the whole world!â
Zeke was left speechless.
The sliver of respect for Nancy that he gained just a moment ago vanished into thin air.
Soon, the butler arrived at the private room, huffing and puffing from running all the way to the hotel.
âSay it. Is it real or fake?â Aaron asked right off the bat.
The butler swallowed and stammered, âMr. Hinton, when I went to the Whiteridge authorities just now, they confirmed that the contract... the contract is...â
âSpit it out!â Aaron bellowed, his patience wearing thin.
The butler bit his lip and said, âThe ownership of the contract has been changed.â
âThe contract is real.â
What?
That was the last thing that the Hintons had expected. They raised their heads in shock as they trained their eyes on Zeke.
The contract had been real!
That would mean that the project did belong to Zeke!
How is that even possible?
Isnât he just a beggar that leeches off his wifeâs riches? How in the world did he secure such a project?
Amongst the Hintons, Nancy received the greatest shock of them all.
After all, she hated Zeke right from the beginning.
However, he had accomplished something she would not even dream of doing.
Is this a dream? she thought.
Michael slammed his fist against the table and stood up. âYouâd better be responsible for your own words!â
âAre you sure that the contract is real? Did you make a mistake?â
The butler sighed. âI wish! Iâve confirmed the results several times with the authorities, and thereâs nothing wrong with it.â
Michael slumped back onto his chair, looking utterly defeated.
The impossible had become a reality.
Aaron tried his best to remain calm despite the waves of terror coursing through his veins. âLooks like Iâve underestimated you, Zeke.â
âIn any case, youâre welcome to work together with the Hinton family on this project.â
âOh, thatâs not something you can decide,â Zeke retorted.
âWhat do you mean?â Aaron demanded.
âHave you forgotten our bet already? Youâll have to give up your position as the head of the family to my wife if you lost it,â Zeke explained.
âLacey, do you like the Riverdale Hintons?â
At that moment, Laceyâs hands were clammy with sweat.
She would have answered âyesâ without thinking since they had almost unlimited funds in their bank accounts.
However, there was no way Aaron would honor the bet and give his position to her.
It was almost as impossible as seeing the sun rose from the west.
However, Aaron cut her off before she could give her answer. âHmph! Itâs just a childish bet! We donât have to honor it!â
âReally? A childish bet, you say? What if you won it? Would you have said that itâs a childish bet?â Zeke asked, grinning.
Instantly, Aaron turned red from anger.
Zeke was right - he would definitely have honored the bet if he had been the winner.
