Chapter 735
Lord Protector Novel
âMr. Zachary, give me a second. I want to hear about what happened.â
Caleb hung up.
Not long after, he called once more and said apologetically, âMr. Zachary, I am so sorry. Iâve just understood the gist of what went on. The smuggling ring had signed a treaty of sorts with Paul long ago. It dictated for part of the smuggling ringâs finances to be redirected to Paul. The account we used was among the few that were under Paul, which is why this happened. This was way out of our control, and it doesnât have a direct relation to Chase Bank, but I still have to apologize.â
Gavin replied coldly, âStop spouting that useless nonsense. Tell me what you have in mind now.â
Caleb replied, âMr. Zachary, are you still looking to make Linton Group go bankrupt? That would be no problem at all.â
Gavin scoffed. âThat man is arrogantly obstinate. Iâm just worried that we wonât have a chance to get back at him. If I canât get back at him, Iâll get rid of him. If his finances arenât destroyed, then I want his family and everything he loves to be burnt to the ground.â
Caleb nodded. âUnderstood. However, about the cost...â
Gavin rolled his eyes. âName your price. Quit beating around the bush.â
âFour billion,â Caleb answered.
Gavin suddenly fell silent.
He had the money, but he had just invested 1.5 billion. Asking for another 4 billion from him didnât feel necessarily great.
His money didnât grow from trees, after all.
Caleb started convincing him, âIsnât four billion a good price in exchange for Zeke Williams and his familyâs lives?â
Gavin gritted his teeth and hardened his heart. âOkay. Four billion it is. Iâll send the money over as soon as possible. This time, thereâs no space for failure. Either you succeed, or you die.â
Caleb replied with ease, âRelax.â
After hanging up on the call, he patted the behind of the woman heâd practically wrung dry. âGet up. Itâs time to go back to work.â
Back in the Linton Group, Zeke was listening to Lone Wolfâs report in the bathroom.
âZeke, weâve found Chase Bank trying to get Linton Group in trouble through the smuggling rings. Their headquarters are in Eastend.â
âChase Bank?â Zeke said suspiciously. âThat name sounds kind of familiar... isnât it run by that guy, Caleb? How dare he set his sights on Linton Group? Iâd better knock some sense into him.â
He pocketed his phone and walked out of the bathroom.
He had just stepped out when he bumped into Dawn Castaneda.
Zeke quickly held onto Dawn to stop her from falling over. âWhat are you running around so urgently for?â
Dawn couldnât help but reach out and feel Zekeâs pecs for a second. âZeke, are you sure your chest isnât filled with springs? Theyâre bouncier than a mattress.â
Zekeâs expression was darkening quickly. âAre you done feeling me up yet? If you are, answer my question.â
Dawn knocked herself on the head lightly and exclaimed, âWeâre in trouble! Someone just transferred another four billion into our accounts. The account seems to have come from a mercenary in Talon Island who named the transfer âWeapon Fundingâ. If someone catches ahold of this and thinks weâre messing around with military weaponry, weâre all done for.â
Zeke was in deep thought. âItâs weird that Chase Bank is using mercenaries from overseas. What a weird pact. Well, since theyâre trying to come for me, theyâre in for a rude awakening.â
To Dawn, he said, âLetâs go, Dawnie. Iâll take you to see some good stuff.â
Dawn looked confused. âGood stuff?â
But Zeke simply replied, âYouâll know what I mean in a bit.â
âI need to let my sister know so she can deal with it first though,â Dawn said.
Zeke shook his head. âDonât tell her anything yet. Sheâs had enough on her plate as it is. Iâll settle this on the down-low.â
