Chapter 75
Found by the Lycan King
I turned around so fast that I thought I would break my neck. And I was relieved to see Drusilla come
walking through the
main entrance.
I sagged in relief and muttered, âI was beginning to think that you had left me for goodâ
Drusilla pushed her hands into the pockets of her pants and gave me a smug look. âNot in this life, at
leastâ
I shook my head and then she let go of her earlier attitude and came running towards me. I pulled her
into a hug as she patted me on my back.
âMr. Lycan King, I have some news for youâ
I went rigid at that. Drusilla had been gone for a long time, looking for a solution to break my curse
while I managed the kingdom and the pack.
âWe can talk about it later. Right now I am ravenousâ
She muttered and dragged me to the dining table.
âMaria!!â Dru shouted and Maria came outside the kitchen again, smiling at her. âJust right in time for
lunchâ
âIsnât it a bit early for lunch?â I asked, but my best friend ignored me.
Drusilla gave her a bright smile, and we walked towards the dining table. I was not really in the mood to
eat, but with her around, I would force some food down my throat.
Drusilla was the one person outside of my pack that I completely trusted and knew that she would
never, ever betray my
trust.
My pack and the other alphas were honor bound to save me, but she wasnât. So I felt a different kind of
ease with her.
While we both made our way towards the dining table, I chatted with her.
âHow was your journey?â
Drusilla replied, âA little tiring and I am not sure if it was as rewarding as I hoped it to beâ
She tried to hide her disappointment, but I only gave her a reassuring smile.
âWe still have time, donât worryâ
While we approached the dining table, Cynthia stepped out of the gym. She saw us and waved at Dru.
âHey, nice to see you againâ
Drusilla gave her a curt smile. âHeyâ
Cynthia then looked at me. âAre you done with training for today? We barely startedâ
She looked hopefully at me but I shook my head. âWe will continue tomorrow. And you still have that
file to read throughâ
I reminded her gently. I did not want her around while talking to Drusilla, as the information she would
share was strictly confidential.
As much as Cynthia liked me, I knew she could not keep things to herself and would somehow blurt it
all in front of her father.
Cynthiaâs face fell as she twirled the end of her ponytail. âOh well, then I will go get showered and join
you guys to eatâ
But I did not want her to. She was not a bad girl, just the jealous type, and always behaved like a puppy
that would do whatever it took to please me, but I somehow just could not feel anything for her.
Though she would never stop trying.
âWell, I thought you had to return to your home before lunch today?â
Cynthia slapped her forehead. âOh yes, I completely forgot that Dad was going to hold a lunch with all
the alphas to discuss some key points.â
I nodded. âThen it would not look good if you were not around. You know what my points and clauses
are, relay them on my behalf to others.â
Her face had begun to crumple again, but she looked at me with a smile when I said that.
âSure, King. I would be your spokespersonâ
âGreat, now hurry up. The driver knows where to drop youâ
shall
âSee you soon, King. Our meeting and dinner date is still pendingâ She looked at me coyly but I only
gave her a small smile.
She then walked away happily, bouncing on her heels as Drusilla looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
âYou sure know how to keep someone danglingâ
I scoffed and pulled a chair to sit down. âI am just not being rude to herâ
Drusilla picked an orange slice from the bowl of fruit and popped it into her mouth.
âYeah, I can see that.â
I shrugged and reached for one too and put it in my mouth.
Drusilla kept watching the retreating figure of Cynthia, who was climbing up the stairs and disappeared
from view.
âWhen are you going to tell her that you donât see yourself with her?â She asked, her eyes narrowing
on me.
I picked the bread from the plate in front of me and began buttering it.
âWell, she wants to try hard and her father is useful to me. She knows that our union, if it ever happens,
will be purely for a strategic purpose.â
âHave you seen the way she looks at you, though? I think she hates me for being your close friend.â
I chuckled. Girls always get jealous over petty things.
âI donât really care. You are my best friend and will always be
Drusilla smiled, and we finished the breakfast while chatting happily. When we were done, she asked
me to join her in the office, saying that she wanted to discuss something in private.
on the huge table.
I tensed, but followed her to the office, nonetheless. Drusilla softly opened the door and placed her diar
She approached her favorite spot like usual, and stood looking outside the window, leaning on the
window frame.
âThese visions, I am not sure if they are a boon or a curse.â
She looked troubled and I could tell that the earlier cheerful chat had just been a facade. She needed
some time to gather her thoughts and come to some conclusion before she shared it with me.
Drusilla spent a lot of time thinking and trying to put the puzzling pieces together which made her talk
less.
âYou saw something again?â
I asked, but she did not answer me. Instead, she asked another question.
âThe pain you would feel occasionally whenever Zenovia was around or near you. Is that still there?â
I quirked an eyebrow. âWhat pain?â
She replied in the same tone. âRemember the ache you felt in your chest when we were outside her
school? The first time you saw her? Did it ever return after that?â
I was about to say âYou are overthinkingâ or something, but then I took a pause. I had never really
thought of it. But if Dru was asking about it, it definitely wasnât for chitchat.
âNot really. Noâ
âHmm, so donât you think
stop and look for her in thy guess was correct? She is the right fit to be your anchor, and that pain was
a sign for you to
stop and look for her in the school instead of wandering through the entire kingdom.â
I shrugged. âBut you saw her. She has not even awakened her wolf yet. She is also a little weak
compared to others, but that is because she does not have a wolf to share strength with.â
Dru absent mindedly reached for the diary and began tracing her finger on the pages.
âI know, but I think it is high time you tell her everythingâ¦especially with the rogue King and her idiotic
stepbrother chasing
-her.â
âYouâve been keeping tabs on me,â I muttered, but she did not deny it.
âIt is my duty to do so, plus my visions are not really in my control. They just show up at the oddest of
times and tell me everything. Oftentimes they are a jumbled mess and I worry about everything
unnecessarily.â
âSo you saw everything? The rogue King and the stepbrother?â I could not help but ask.
âNot really. As I said, sometimes I get fleeting visions. I wanted to warn you aboutâ¦what was his name
again?⦠Sidâ¦yeah, I saw him and Zenovia together and bits and pieces of everything. I simply pieced
it together. And based on your reaction, I guessed it right.â
I nodded, âYou did. But that doesnât help me a lot right now.â
Dru leaned forward. âIt is your decision but I would still insist that you get her prepared. We are running
out of time.â
âThe fate and the Moon Goddess still hating me?â I asked sarcastically.
She gave me a look but then stopped tracing her fingers upon the diary. âThe moon Goddess loves
everybody equally, even those children of hers that hate her.â
I scoffed, âIt is not that I hate your moon Goddess, I donât believe in her anymore.â
Drusilla mumbled, âAnymoreâ¦.so there was a time you used to believe in her.â
I warned her, âDonât go thereâ
Drusilla shook her head but replied, âFine, I wonât go there, but if you wish to break this curse, you have
to stop beating around the bush. And if you wonât tell Zenovia anything, I will.â
I looked at her with a firm resolve, âNo you canât. She just ran away a few days ago. Do you want her to
run away again?â
Drusilla turned around and stood looking at me, her eyes narrowing at something
âWhat?â
âCal, you know she is going to be your anchor. You absolutely cannot start having feelings for her.â
âWhat are you even blabbering about?â I countered in a rather stern voice. She did not miss noticing it.
Dru came walking towards me and looked at me evenly. âIâ¦I was just saying that it could be
dangerous. You know you cannot afford mistakes.â
I let out a breath and walked towards the table, ignoring the fact that even the mention of Zenoyia
made me feel restless. Had she seen visions of us together? Or how being close to Zenovia made me
feel euphoric? But she would have mentioned it.
âI never agreed it was the right choice. You keep pushing it on me.â
And she was quick to reply, âBecause we are running out of time. Time that we donât have. Time that
YOU donât have.â
I let out a mirthless chuckle. âI care for every subject of mine. Even if he or she doesnât believe it.
Zenovia is weak, so I want to give her time to awaken her wolf first and be strong enough to shoulder
another responsibility, a big one at that. I hope the coming full moon she will awaken her wolf. Then we
can tell her everything.â
âYour Lycan.he-is fine, right?â She asked, looking at me curiously.
âOf courseâ
Drusilla took the diary off the table and clutched it tightly. That diary of hers was quite a bit of a mystery
to us. She would scribble things in it and keep writing, but never showed anybody anything.
I never tried to steal a glance inside because being nosey was not my style.
She only grabbed the diary and said in a grim voice, âYou better be right about the fact that you only
care about her, just like a subject. Or I am not sure how things will play out in the future
