Chapter 114
Bride Behind The Mask
Not long after, the little girlâs mom emerged from the restroom.
She warmly said âgoodbyeâ to both of them, insisting on shoving the lollipop into Margueriteâs hand, then happily took off.
Marguerite stared at the lollipop in her hand, a bit in a daze. Then, she heard Stevenâs gentle voice, âMarguerite, why donât you want this baby? What happened? Tell me, maybe I can understand you.â
Marguerite gave a bitter smile. âSteven, no one can truly understand another personâs feelings. You canât understand me.â
Just then, Laverne had finished all her checkâups and was coming their way with Janie.
As soon as the old lady saw Marguerite, she yelled from a distance, âWhere have you two been? Letâs go home! Iâm feeling great!â
Steven smiled and replied. âI can tell youâve recovered well.â
Marguerite quickly turned to Steven, urgently saying, âSteven, donât let my grandma know about my pregnancy.â
Steven kept a straight face, but his slightly furrowed eyebrows betrayed his surprise.
Marguerite didnât explain, and he didnât ask further, just nodded, âI understand.â
Considering her relationship with her grandma, she hadnât figured out how to break the news. Besides, her grandma might not consider it from her perspective.
But in reality, Frederick was the more difficult one to deal with.
When she was dropped off home by Steven, his reaction was pretty intense.
What if he found out she was carrying another manâs child?
She could even imagine Frederickâs angry face.
However, Marguerite had no intention of telling Frederick.
In two months, her relationship with Frederick would be over.
By then, her twoâmonth pregnancy wouldnât be obvious.
So, there was no need for Marguerite to tell him and stir up unnecessary trouble.
Then, Marguerite quickly said goodbye to Steven and left the hospital with Laverine.
Marguerite and Laverine walked under the sun.
Laverine was healthy and seemed worryâfree.
Margueriteâs figure seemed lonely, projecting an aura of solitude and desolation.
Steven watched her, feeling a surge of indescribable emotions.
Janie laughed, âSteven, youâre feeling sorry for her.â
The man pulled his gaze back, glanced at Janie, then headed for his office, âSheâs not someone I should feel sorry for.â
Janie shrugged, not saying anything more.
But as soon as they got back to the office, they spotted Margueriteâs canvas bag left on the table.
âThis is Margueriteâs, right? They probably havenât gone far, Iâll go give her the bag.â
Janie, sharp as she was, picked up Margueriteâs bag and headed out, Stevenâs voice followed immediately, âGive her these reports as well.â Marguerite had left in a hurry and didnât take her medical reports.
Janie, with the reports in hand, rushed out of the hospital but couldnât find Marguerite anywhere.
â She thought, oh well, Iâll give them to her next week when they come back.
As Janie walked back into the lobby, she spotted a motherâdaughter duo who looked familiar registering at the front desk.
They were Laverneâs daughterâinâlaw and granddaughter!
The day Laverne woke up, the ward was noisy. There seemed to be a dispute about who the real granddaughter was.
Janie wasnât interested about who came out on top,. But she was sure, these two must know Marguerite. So why not give them the stuff?
With this thought, Janie quickly approached them, âMiss, I have your grandma and your friendâs stuff.
Could you pass it to them?â
Yunaâs face was swollen badly. When she turned to look at Janie, Janie gasped.
âMy grandma and my friend? Who?â
âThe lady taking care of your grandma. Not the best looking, a bit taller than you. Oh, her nameâs Marguerite!â
Upon hearing this, Yuna immediately responded in a displeased tone, âHow could she be taller than me!â
She thought, âwhat is that bitch Marguerite doing here? And that old hag! If that old hag hadnât slapped mosquitoes on my face yesterday, I wouldnât be here at the hospital losing face today. On the way here, who knows how many people were gossiping about me.â
The more Yuna thought, the angrier she became. She pushed Janie aside and was about to leave.
But strangely, she inadvertently saw a pregnancy test report at the top of the stack of files in Janieâs hand!
And on the top left corner of the report, was a name clearly written: Marguerite.
