Chapter 138
Bride Behind The Mask
Paternity test?
Even though Marguerite wasnât clear about who the father of the child in her belly was, she was pretty sure it wasnât Frederick.
It was plain as day, no need for a paternity test.
Marguerite took a deep breath, âSteven, thanks for your concern, but no thanks.â
Steven was taken aback, âWhy?â
âItâs pointless.â
When Steven understood what Marguerite meant, he was deeply shocked, âMarguerite, is the child in your belly really not Frederickâs?â
This matter had already caused Marguerite a lot of pain, so when Steven questioned her, she felt her wounds being reopened and insulted again.
She answered a few words in a fluster and then hung up the phone.
Steven stared at the phone screen in a daze, completely unable to snap back to reality.
âSteven?â Janie waved her hand in front of his eyes, âStop zoning out, Mr. Powell woke up, and the other doctors are there. Are you going to check it out?â
Steven shook his head, âNo, you go first, let me think for a bit.â
Janie shrugged her shoulders, and closed the door on her way out.
Steven immediately grabbed a glass of ice water and gulped it down, trying to clear his head.
Then he pulled out a picture frame from the drawer, inside was a picture of Marguerite smiling.
Since it was a candid shot, the quality of the photo wasnât very good, but Margueriteâs face was clear as day. Her big eyes exuded an innocent yet determined aura.
How could such an innocent girl have an illegitimate child?
What on earth went wrong?
Meanwhile, in the study room of Sapphire Valley Estates.
The room was filled with smoke. Frederick stood in front of the floorâtoâceiling windows, continuously smoking.
Chuck was choking on the smoke, sneezing nonâstop. He didnât remember how many Frederick had smoked, but he didnât stop after Marguerite left.
âChuck.â The manâs hoarse voice suddenly came.
Chuck immediately stepped forward and responded respectfully, âMr. Winston, what can I do for you?â
The man had his back to him, so Chuck couldnât see Frederickâs expression at the moment. But after Frederick called him, he fell silent.
âMr. Winston?â Chuck plucked up the courage to call out.
No response.
After Frederick remained silent for a long time, Chuck heard his angry voice, âFind out who the father of her child is.â
Chuck looked troubled, âMr. Winston, Ms. Lockwood said she was forced, so she definitely wouldnât want to talk about such painful memories. If she doesnât say, we have no way to investigate.â
âForced?â Frederick sneered, âWhich man would force her?â
Chuck stood nervously.
Although Chuck was Frederickâs subordinate and always flattering him, he didnât want to say anything more at this moment.
Frederickâs words were very hurtful in his view.
If Marguerite really was forced, then she was the victim.
But Frederick pushed all the blame onto Marguerite.
He knew Frederick was angry and couldnât control his emotions towards Marguerite, and could only vent in this way.
It was totally pointless.
Doing so would only make the relationship between Frederick and Marguerite more distant.
âMr. Winston, I really donât know how to investigate this matter.â.
âThen just stick to her side!â
Frederick turned around angrily, his eyes burning with rage were already turning red.
Chuck was so scared that he kept backing away, his face full of fear, âYes, Mr. Winston! I got it. Do you have any other orders?â
âWithdraw all stocks of Polar Radiance perfume from all stores, not a single bottle should be left!â
