Chapter 336
Bride Behind The Mask
Teresa was having a sleepless night.
Lying on her plush princess bed, her round eyes stared blankly at the dark ceiling.
Her mom claimed that Maurice was her father, but she was more inclined to believe that Hayesâ dad was her real father.
Genetics was the most compelling evidence!
By comparing her features with her momâs, she deduced that her father had to resemble Hayesâ dad.
Filled with determination, Teresa quickly rose from the bed, turned on the bedside lamp, and took out a mirror.
Next to her was a portrait of Frederick.
Teresa looked at herself in the mirror, then at the portrait. The resemblance was uncanny. Her eyes were like her motherâs, and her nose and mouth were like Hayesâ dad.
What on earth was going on?!
She pondered this until the wee hours of the morning, finally succumbing to sleep reluctantly.
The next day, at Royal Elite Kindergarten.
Teresa arrived at school early, eagerly awaiting Hayesâ arrival.
She intended to probe more about Frederick from Hayes, but he was nowhere to be seen even when school started.
Darn it! Why isnât the little mute coming to school?
Teresa was frantic, she propped up her drawing book on the table as a shield and stealthily texted Hayes:
[Hey, you sick or something? Why arenât you in school?]
Hayes promptly responded to Teresa: [My dad doesnât want me to hang out with you.]
âWhat?! Hayesâ dad doesnât want him to hang out with me?â Teresa thought, recalling what her mom had said. the previous night she too had forbidden Teresa from hanging out with Hayes.
â
Did her mom and Hayesâ dad conspire together? What were they hiding? Something fishy was going on!
Teresa made a secret vow to get to the bottom of this.
She was so filled with righteous indignation that she began to pound her tiny fists on the desk.
Many children turned to look at her, causing Teresa to quickly hide her face behind the book.
Shortly after, her phone vibrated.
[Teresa, are you upset?]
[No, Iâm just thinking about what to do.]
[Teresa, Iâll try to come to school tomorrow, I wonât stop being your friend.]
Hayes was careful with his words, fearing that Teresa might get angry and stop being his friend.
She was his only friend, and he couldnât bear the thought of losing her, so he would never keep away from Teresa.
Hayes, can you do me a favor?]
[Sure] Hayes responded immediately, not caring what Teresaâs favor was. As long as it was for Teresa, he would do his best.
Chapter 336, [Can you get me a few of your dadâs hair strands? Donât tell him, okay?]
Hayes was taken aback. Why would Teresa want his dadâs hair?
Hayes stared at the chat box, utterly confused. [What do you need my dadâs hair for?]
Of course, itâs for a paternity test!
Teresa was bursting to spill the beans. She typed out a lengthy explanation and was about to hit send when she hesitated.
If she was indeed Hayesâ dadâs daughter, wouldnât that make her and Hayes halfâsiblings?
Would Hayes think her mom stole his dad from him? No, she couldnât tell Hayes.
Teresa playfully twirled her eyes, deleted the long message, and quickly concocted a lie:
[I have a weird collection habit. I like collecting peopleâs hair.]
Hayes furrowed his brow. Teresa likes to collect peopleâs hair? What a strange hobby!
But why doesnât she collect her own hair, why his dadâs? Did his dad mean more to Teresa than he did?
Hayes was a little jealous at the thought, but he had promised Teresa, so he had to deliver.
However, plucking a lionâs mane without being noticed didnât seem like an easy task. Hayes was in a quandary.
