Chapter 448
Bride Behind The Mask
Chuck was hastily getting dressed, barking instructions at the same time, âSnap a picture of Mr.
Winstonâs wound and send it to me right now. Iâll tell you how to handle a bullet wound. Donât panic, Iâm on my way!â
No sooner had Chuck finished speaking than he was in his car, heading to them in full speed.
Marguerite quickly sent the photo, and soon received an audio message from Chuck..
Meanwhile, Hayes had prepared some hot water and the first-aid kit.
With trembling hands, Marguerite cut open Frederickâs shirt with scissors and sterilized a pair of tweezers over a small alcohol lamp.
She played Chuckâs audio message over and over again, her hand trembling as she extended the tweezers towards Frederickâs wound.
But Marguerite was no trained doctor, removing the bullet was like groping in the dark!
A sharp intake of breath echoed in the room.
She didnât know what she had hit, but whatever it was, it was enough to rouse the unconscious man.
Margueriteâs hand shook even more violently, but in a stroke of blind luck, the tweezers clamped onto something metallic. Without thinking, she yanked it out, and the bullet rolled out from Frederickâs flesh!
Frederick grunted in pain, sweats forming on his forehead. His teeth clenched in pain, he grabbed Margueriteâs wrist, âMarguerite, youâve been holding a grudge against me for a while, huh? Do you think that Iâm not in enough pain, so you twisted the knife inside me?â
Margueriteâs face was pale, her throat trembling as she stammered, âI⦠I was just trying to remove the bulletâ¦â
âDid you get it out?â
âYes⦠donât move, Iâll bandage you up.â
Marguerite quickly found some gauze and clumsily wrapped it around the manâs shoulder and chest.
Frederick, now more alert, looked down at the haphazard bandage on his chest with a look of distaste.
Marguerite swallowed nervously, âI⦠Iâm not a trained doctor. If you can, you should go to the hospital tomorrow.â
âAre you scared?â
Marguerite was taken aback for a moment, then her grievances welled up and tears began to roll down her face.
Frederick shot her a glance and, with a grimace of pain, sat up and pulled her closer by her collar, âWhat are you scared of?
Taken by surprise, Marguerite nearly fell into Frederickâs lap.
Seeing this, Hayes blushed and quickly turned away.
Marguerite was already flustered and Frederickâs questioning just made her more tongue-tied.
Damn him! Heâs the one whoâs been shot and heâs still acting so restless!
He should be resting, not asking questions!
Seeing Marguerite biting her lip and looking as pitiful as a kitten, Frederickâs heart softened and he let go of her collar.
Damn it! He was the one injured, but why was she tooking so upset? Was she worried about him?
Thinking this, Frederick felt a small wave of satisfaction.
âI donât want anyone else to know about this.â
Marguerite frowned, her eyes full of guilt, âNo one can know?â
Frederick took a deep, pained breath, looking at Marguerite, â No one!â
Margueriteâs heart fluttered, her eyes wide and nervous as she hesitated, âBut I⦠I told Chuck⦠He should be on his way here nowâ¦â
