Chapter 478
Bride Behind The Mask
Meanwhile, at the childrenâs bedroom in the Winston Mansionâ¦
Hayes clutched his cellphone with a glint of hope in his eyes. After what felt like an eternity, there was still no reply from Yuna. A sigh escaped his lips, and a wave of mild disappointment washed over him.
But he tried forgetting it and cheering himself up. Ever since moving into the Winston Mansion and having Teresaâs company, his momâs neglect didnât seem to sting as much.
Back when his mom ignored him, heâd brood over it for ages. But now, he could bounce back in no time! If he could, he really wished he could live with Teresa forever!
As Hayes harbored this thought, Teresaâs voice, laced with surprise and urgency, reached his ears, âLittle mute! You gotta see this! Come here, quick!â
Without a momentâs hesitation, Hayes spun around and dashed to Teresaâs side.
Teresa sat upright in front of her easel, and clipped onto it was a portrait taller than she was.
Hayes stood opposite Teresa, the easel blocking his view, so he had no idea what was drawn on it.
After Hayes joined her, Teresa didnât look at him right away; instead, she was staring gobsmacked at the easel, âLittle mute, Iâve got to tell you something super spooky!â
Hayes, full of curiosity, tilted his head and looked at her with all seriousness, âWhatâs up?â
Teresa, genuinely shaken, swallowed hard before she finally met Hayesâ gaze, â⦠My godfatherâs sister⦠she looks just like my mom!â
Hayes was surprised. He quickly moved to the front of the easel and looked up at the woman on the paper, stunned. How could she look so similar?
With a sense of disbelief, Teresa pressed her rosy-cheeked face close to the drawing, scrutinizing it from the left and right, her fingers intertwined and her brow furrowed, âCould I have drawn it wrong?
Thatâs impossible! I broke down the features from the photo and even used a mannequin, drawing according to the natural growth of muscles and bone structure!â
After a moment of thought, Hayes placed his hand on Teresaâs shoulder, his young face taking on an uncharacteristically serious and solemn expression, âIt could be⦠my momâ¦â
Teresa stiffened, turning to look Hayes in the eyes.
Thatâs right! Her mom and Hayesâ mom were look-alikes!
But who was really her godfatherâs sister?
âCould it be that both your mom and my mom are the his sisters?â
Hayes shook his head, his mouth opening as he struggled to articulate a difficult truth, âHe⦠only had one sister. His mother.. didnât have twins!â
Hearing this from Hayes, Teresa was utterly flabbergasted!
What was going on? Their moms were twins! So either Teresa had drawn it wrong, or both were her godfatherâs sisters. There was no reason for it to be just one of them!
The two kids were stumped.
Forget it! Might as well send the photo to him; after all, they were just kids. How could they possibly unravel such a complex mystery?
With that thought, Teresa took out her phone, snapped a photo of the portrait, and sent it straight to Robert.
