Chapter 73
Bride Behind The Mask
âMr. Winston, Iâll be ready in a jiffy.â
Marguerite was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof, she plucked up courage and said, âHang on, donât go just yet.â
Frederick frowned, âWhatâs up?â
Marguerite forced a smile, trying to swallow her anxiety, âWith all these clothes, I canât possibly try them all on. I guess Iâll pass.â
Alison smiled, âDonât worry, Mam. We have professional models here. If you donât want to try them on, I can have a model with a similar figure to you try them on. That way, you can get a better visual perception of this.â
Alisonâs smile was sweet and warm, but it didnât melt Margueriteâs icy heart. She couldnât believe this was how the rich went shopping.
Frederick waved his hand at Alison, and his voice indifferent, âGo ahead.â
Meanwhile, downstairs.
Yuna had her eyes on a dress, She had wanted to emulate the rich folks, and impressed everyone in the room by slapping her card on the cash register and generously saying, âWrap it all up for me and swipe the card.â
But her moment of glory was cut short when the cashier poured cold water on her parade.
Her card was declined due to insufficient funds.
Yuna was dumbfounded â how could this happen?
The card was from Frederick.
There were hundreds of thousands in it.
Did she blow it all?
She asked the cashier to try again, but it was the same story.
What now?
She wanted to wear this dress for Frederick. She was banking on this dress to win him over.
It was her battle gear. She had to buy it.
While Yuna was deep in thought, she had a brazen idea â âDo you guys have a rental service? Can I rent this dress?â
The cashier looked like she had heard the funniest joke ever, âMiss, we are an international luxury brand. We only offer rental services for haute couture dresses, not for daily wear.â
âSo you can rent out haute couture, but not daily wear? What kind of business are you running? Whoâs your manager? I want to speak to the manager.â
Just as Yuna was raising a fuss, Alison came running downstairs.
âNeal, get the models out here, we have a customer who wants to see how the clothes look on. Quick!
This is a big fish.â
Neal who was serving Yuna turned around and asked, âHow many models do we need?â
Alison quickly counted, âTwenty. We need twenty.â
Neal listened and tapped his head in anxiety. âWe only have nineteen today. Should we call in from other branches?â
Alison was pacing around anxiously, âThereâs no time. Time is money and our customerâs time is very precious.â
In her frantic state, Alisonâs eyes landed on Yuna.
This lady, her height and figure, were similar to the lady upstairs.
In a pinch, Alison went up to Yuna and asked, âMiss, I donât know if you could help us out. We have a customer whoâs picked out some clothes and wants to see them on the models. But weâre shortâ
staffed, could you give us a hand?â
Yuna sneered, wondering who would have the audacity to ask her to be a fitting model?
She was Frederickâs girlfriend.
Yuna instinctively wanted to refuse, but she suddenly realized that this was a business opportunity.
She raised her head proudly and negotiated directly with Alison, âI can help you, but I need a payment.â
Alison and Neal exchanged looks, worried that Yuna would ask for too much, âHow much are you looking for?â
Yuna pointed at the dress on the counter, âGive me this dress.â
Alison looked at the dress and realized that it was the most basic style in the store and not very pricey.
If Frederick bought all the clothes for the lady upstairs, they would make more than the cost of this dress.
Alison immediately agreed, âNo problem. The dress is yours, plus a belt.â
âDeal.â
