Chapter 99
Bride Behind The Mask
The next morning, the whole city woke up bathed in the rosy glow of dawn.
Just after everyone had finished breakfast, Yuna strolled into the mansion blissfully.
As soon as Sadie opened the door, she threw herself at Frederick, eager to hug him and show off in front of Marguerite.
However, she was stopped in her tracks by Laverne, âYuna, where do you think youâre going? Iâm right here!â
Yuna was left red in the face. She had used the old lady as an excuse to come to the mansion, and if Freddie found out that her real motive was to get into bed with him, sheâd be kicked out in no time flat.
With no other choice, she had to hug Laverne and put on a fake sweet act, âGrandma, I didnât see you just now. Did you sleep well last night? Did anyone bully you?â
Laverne waved her off, âMarguerite has been taking good care of me! Yuna, Iâm just living it up here.â
Upon hearing this, Yuna was so pissed off she couldâve had a fit. She wished her grandma would just drop dead!
Her whole family was walking on eggshells at Diamond Crest Estates while the old lady moved into the mansion of her dreams and lived her own life.
So last night she didnât torture Marguerite at all? And they didnât tear each other apart?
Yuna forced out an awkward smile. Sneakily, she whispered in Laverneâs ear.
âGrandma, Marguerite has a bad temper. If she bullies you, donât take any shit from her.â
Laverne looked shocked and her voice rose in confusion, âWhat? Youâre saying Marguerite has a bad temper? No way! Sheâs a really nice girl and she works hard. She is even more meticulous than the servants at home! Yuna, donât worry! She wonât bully me!â
Yuna didnât expect Laverne to have such a loud voice and blurt out all her scheming. She panicked all at once.
She thought her grandma was deliberately trying to embarrass her, but Laverne looked genuinely innocent.
The man suddenly jerked his head, and thereâs a tinge of weariness in his sharp eyes. That sent a chill down her spine.
âFreddie, Iâ¦â
âIf youâre here to see your grandma, then watch your mouth. Stop blabbering and badmouthing others.â
With that, the man strolled towards the backyard.
At that moment, Yuna clearly felt the manâs disdain for her.
Yuna was so desperate that she was running after him, âFreddie, where are you going?â
âYuna!â Laverne stepped in front of her, blocking her path, âThe mountainâs flowers are blooming, so take me there.â
Damn it! Nobody wanted to see some flowers with that old tramp. Yuna thought.
Freddie went to the backyard so no one was around. It was the perfect opportunity for her to drug him.
âGrandma, let Marguerite go with you.â Yunaâs eyes darted past Laverneâs shoulder, anxiously looking towards the backyard.
âI donât want Marguerite, I want you! Youâre my granddaughter, who else should accompany me if not you?â
Yuna tried to refuse but noticed Chuck was watching her..
She wasnât afraid of Chuck, but this tub of lard was Freddieâs sidekick. Heâd report what she did in the mansion to Frederick in detail, Therefore, she couldnât let anyone think she was unfilial.
Yuna was a bit disheartened.
She still had a whole day, and she believed sheâd get a chance to drug Freddie!
âAlright, Granny, Iâll take you to see the mountainâs flowers!â
Her eyes softened, but her teeth gritted.
