Chapter 414
The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!
Chapter 414: Chapter 414: This Desk Looks Somewhat Familiar After walking out on Chase Jennings without hesitation, Scarlett Jennings thought for a moment and changed her route to the Chalmers residence.
The butler was momentarily stunned to see her and instinctively said, "Young Master went to the Capital Metropolitan yesterday and hasnât returned yet."
Scarlett froze briefly, her first reaction being that he hadnât told her.
But she quickly felt it was perfectly reasonableâhe wasnât obligated to inform her of his schedule. Besides, she wasnât here to see him anyway.
"Iâd like to spend some time in the study."
Samuel Chalmers had told her long ago that she could enter his study freely, even when he wasnât home.
Though the butler was used to it by now, he couldnât help but laugh warmly whenever he saw Scarlett acting this naturally, "Iâll have a few of your favorite pastries sent up. The chef recently developed some new recipesâyou should give them a try."
Scarlett nodded and thanked him, then navigated the way to the second floor with a practiced familiarity.
The study was filled with pure spiritual energy, almost like a unique imprint of Samuelâs presence lingering in the air.
Scarlett walked straight in, noticing that the layout of the study had undergone slight changes.
There was a long table added not far from Samuelâs desk. On the table were some blank talismans and vermillion pigment she had left here.
He had even prepared a separate cabinet for her. When opened, it was filled with her belongings.
Besides her carving tools and a few small pieces of stone, there were new materials sheâd never seen before, along with some premium-grade vermillion pigment.
Clearly, Samuel had replenished her "supplies."
Only then did Scarlett realize that, bit by bit, she had nearly moved half of her possessions into Samuelâs study.
Initially, it had been just for drawing talismans, but eventually, even her jade carving tools and materials had made their way here.
No wonder Samuel had prepared a new table just for her...
Since their dinner together last time, the two hadnât seen each other. She hadnât known Samuel had gone to such lengths to prepare these things.
When the butler came in to deliver the pastries, he meticulously explained Samuelâs preparations, "The wood for this table is the same as Young Masterâs desk. It was specially transported from out of town, and the same artisan designed and crafted both, keeping them in a uniform style."
"The truth is, Young Master gave the instructions a while ago, but it was only completed a couple of days ago. This is the first time Iâve seen Young Master put so much thought into something for someone."
"I even suggested to him that he invite you over to see if youâre satisfied with the studyâs setup. But Young Master insisted there was no need and said youâd notice everything on your own when you came."
"Thatâs just how our Young Master isâquietly doing so much but never showing it. He always keeps you in mind."
The butler had long observed the dynamic between his Young Master and the eldest daughter of the Jennings Family. Though they were technically dating, they hardly spent any significant time together.
In his opinion, Samuel didnât dedicate enough time to his girlfriend. Even when he made thoughtful gestures, he didnât know how to take credit for them.
The butler worried that Miss Jennings might feel Samuel wasnât attentive enough and might end up breaking things off. ÆrÄewebnoѵÑl.cÏm In that case, wouldnât Samuel go right back to being alone?
The butler felt his concerns werenât unfoundedâafter all, Miss Jennings was only eighteen.
An eighteen-year-old young lady would surely want someone who could dote on her constantly.
As the Chalmers Family butler, he decided heâd quietly help Samuel leave a good impression in such matters.
Scarlett, unaware of the triangle of worry in the butlerâs mind, nevertheless listened closely to his words.
Once the butler left, she sent a message to Samuel.
Scarlett: [I didnât know youâd gone to the Capital Metropolitan. Just found the new deskâlove it, thank you.]
As she typed, she placed Liora Gold on the table and snapped a picture of the desk with Liora in the foreground, sending it as an attachment.
Samuel seemed free at that moment, replying quickly.
Samuel: [If something doesnât fit your needs, just let the butler know.]
After sending that message, he stared at her earlier line, "I didnât know youâd gone to the Capital Metropolitan," fell into silence for a moment, and then sent another reply.
Samuel: [Next time I leave for somewhere far, Iâll let you know first.]
He hadnât realized this before now.
After all, he had never needed to inform anyone of his movements, aside from his assistant.
Scarlett stared at that reply, momentarily confused, and quickly typed back: [I wasnât hinting that you should do that.]
Samuel: [I know.]
He had just suddenly realized it would be something he ought to do.
The exchange ended abruptly, leaving Scarlett with no further thoughts. Instead, she glanced at the photo on her phone and decided to post it on her social feed.
The attached image was the same photoâthe little paperman Liora Gold standing proudly at the deskâs center, back to the camera, one hand on her hip and the other raised high.
Though just a simple figure made of paper, it somehow exuded an unmistakable cocky attitude.
She captioned it: [My new desk.]
Lucas Jennings was the first to comment.
He instantly showered her with flattery: [My sisterâs taste is truly exquisite! Elegant and mysterious!]
Then came Ashton Todd: [This desk looks expensive.]
Though Alicia Sharp didnât have much personal interaction with Scarlett, she was one of the few in their social circle who had Scarlett on WeChat and naturally joined the conversation, [Do all desks in your spiritual arts circles look like this? The color schemeâs a bit heavy. Let me send you some cute decorationsâevery young girl should have an adorable desk!]
Donovan Jennings: [Hmm, this desk looks kind of familiar.]
Luca Jennings: [This desk doesnât match the style of your room. Iâll have Uncle Ming design you a larger study with this theme.]
By the time Samuel saw her post half an hour later, he didnât comment but quietly gave it a like.
Putting away his phone, he narrowed his eyes, suppressing his emotions while his imposing aura returned.
He glanced at the people seated in the hall, his dark gaze sweeping over them before he spoke in a low, indifferent tone, tinged with the authority of someone at the top, "Letâs continue."
Everyone in the hall immediately sat up straighter, holding their breath.
In the traditionally styled, antique-furnished hall, Samuel sat at the head, composed and commanding. On either side of him, several elders in varied attire occupied high-backed chairs. Though their expressions differed, their collective air of authority was unmistakable.
The elder seated at the head of the group had white hair and beard, but his bright, lively demeanor was visible. He lowered his eyes with a light laugh, "Thereâve been many significant events in the Capital Metropolitan over the past two years, with rumors running rampant. Now that youâre back, we were hoping you could return to the Capital and take charge."
The other elders nodded in silent agreement, keeping their sentiments aligned with the speaker.
Samuel showed no interest in the proposal, brushing it aside, "The Chalmers Familyâs foundation is in Sea City. I wonât be returning to Capital Metropolitan for now."
He added, "All matters in the Capital are still to be handled by Simon. His decisions are my decisions."
As he said this, he turned to look at the strikingly handsome man on the other sofa, who, unlike the others, seemed carefree as if he were vacationing, leisurely munching on snacks amid the serious atmosphere.
As Samuel spoke, the man smirked, tilting his chin up toward the group of elders with an air of smugness, his tone laced with the faintest taunt, The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!

"Told you so. You didnât believe me."
Noticing the elders glaring at him with sour expressions, Simon grinned even more brazenly, "Oh, what? Thinking about challenging me? Let me warn you in advance, I donât subscribe to that whole ârespect your eldersâ nonsense."
The energetic elder, knowing the manâs temper, stepped in to defuse the tension with a chuckle, "Letâs not escalate things to that point..."
Yet before he could finish, Samuel abruptly stood, his dark gaze sweeping past Simon as he uttered just two words, "Go ahead."
With that, he turned and strode out of the hall, leaving everyone behind utterly bewildered.
Go ahead?
Go ahead and what??
Surely not... He couldnât mean *go ahead and fight*, could he??
No, absolutely notâthey couldnât risk that!
