Chapter 43
The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!
Chapter 43: Chapter 43: A Jade Token? I Have One Too Chapter 43 -43: A Jade Token? I Have One Too Donovan Jennings and Luca Jennings were not at home today. When they returned in the evening, they heard that Josiah Garrison had come to bother Scarlett and immediately instructed the butler, âIn the future, as long as itâs someone from the Garrison Family, donât let them in.â
Then they prepared to check on Scarlett. They were afraid the Garrison Family might cause their daughter (sister) any grievances again.
Just as they were about to go upstairs, they saw Scarlett Jennings coming down from the stairs holding a little fox, surprisingly with a âtailâ attached in the form of Lucas Jennings following behind her angrily, demanding, âWhat happened to my arm just now? Did you do something to me? Scarlett Jennings, I advise you to confess honestly!â
âIf it werenât for me today, the Garrison people would have bullied you to death! Werenât you the one who was really good at arguing with us before?
But you canât say a word to the Garrison family? Youâre embarrassing us, the Jennings Family!â
Luca Jennings watched Lucas pestering Scarlett, instinctively furrowing his brow, thinking this kid was causing Scarlett trouble again. He was about to speak, but Donovan Jennings stopped him.
Luca paused but saw Donovan simply watching with great interest.
Lucas did not notice the two people downstairs until Scarlett finally stopped. He turned his head, and a momentary guilty look flashed across his face, but he quickly composed himself and politely greeted them, âUncle, Brother Donovan, youâre back?â
âHmm, what are you talking about?â Luca Jennings asked in a deep voice.
Scarlett was just about to speak when Lucas, afraid she would complain again, quickly took a few steps and spoke first, âUncle, we were talking about that foster brother from the Garrison Family who came today. You didnât know, that guy kept using his brotherâs identity and the Garrisonâs nurturing kindness to oppress people, and I scolded him away.â
Donovan raised an eyebrow, âOh? Youâre quite impressive.â
Hearing Donovan praise him, Lucas immediately puffed up with pride, âOf course, and look at where we are? Somebody tries to bully people on the Jenningsâ turf without considering their own status!â
Speaking, Lucas glanced at Scarlett again, seeing her listening to him with a calm expression, showing no trace of gratitude. He felt somewhat dissatisfied. Today, he stepped up to defend her, yet she didnât even express thanks throughout the afternoon, nor did she respond when he spoke to herâtruly ungrateful!
No wonder Azura said he shouldnât meddle in othersâ affairs. She wasnât worth helping. Frustrated, Lucas decided to lodge a complaint in a different way, âUncle, Brother Donovan, did you know? Scarlett Jennings has a pretty good relationship with her foster brother from the Garrison Family. She even personally made him some kind of Jade Token!â
Hearing the relationship was pretty good, Luca instinctively glanced at Scarlett.
Scarlett shook her head, concise and to the point, âNot good.â
Donovan just smiled, âJade Token? Are you talking about the Amulet? I have one, too.â
He spoke while drawing a red string from his collar with a touch of low-key flaunt, displaying a Jade Token engraved with runes.
Seeing the red string and Jade Pendant that were so incongruous with his regal demeanor, Scarlettâs eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her almond eyes seemed to brighten a bit, yet her face remained as usual.
Lucas didnât expect his attempt to stir trouble would fail on the spot. Jealous of the Jade Token, he gazed longingly at Luca, âUncle, do you also have one?â
Luca pressed his lips, looking at the Jade Token on his sonâs neck and then at Scarlett, his voice reserved, âI donât have one.â
Scarlett seemed a bit surprised, âYou do. I gave it.â
Luca was startled, a moment of joy flashing in his eyes, but he quickly furrowed his brow, âI didnât receive it.â
âHmm, yours is with me.â Donovan chimed in, speaking without a hint of guilt, âScarlett asked me to pass it along, and I didnât give it.â
Upon hearing this, Lucaâs expression darkened. Just as he was about to scold him, Donovan leisurely added, âBecause at that time, Father made a mistake, so I temporarily withheld the Amulet on Scarlettâs behalf.â
Though he didnât explain further, Luca could guess what the mistake was, a flash of guilt in his eyes before returning to his strict demeanor, âSince Scarlett wanted you to pass it along, even if you had an opinion, you couldnât keep it from me. Hand it over now!â
Donovan shrugged, âItâs in my room. Iâll get it for you later.â
âNo, go get it now!â
With his fatherâs authority imposed, Donovan stopped resisting, heading upstairs to retrieve the Jade Token, returning shortly after with it.
The Jade Token was still wrapped in a Blessing Bag, untouched. Luca opened it directly in front of Scarlett, seeing it indeed was the same as Donovanâs, a flicker of joy in his eyes, yet maintained his composure, only gently rubbing it in his hands, âDid you carve this yourself? Impressive craftsmanship! I didnât expect Scarlett to have this talent, Daddy has received it.â
His Jade Token didnât have a red string, so Luca carefully restored the item into the Blessing Bag and discreetly tucked it into his jacket pocket.
Lucas watched Lucaâs actions, a hint of jealousy evident in his eyes.
It was unclear if he was jealous of the fondness his uncle had for Scarlettâs gift or that Scarlett only gifted the two of them, not him...
On the other side.
Upon returning to the hospital ward after encountering cold shoulders at the Jennings Family, Josiah Garrison found his parents and Isolde Garrison still waiting in the ward.
Seeing him, Mr. Garrison eagerly asked, âHow did it go? Did she agree?â
Josiah shook his head, âScarlett has really changed now.â
Upon hearing this, Emma White immediately uttered an expletive, âThat girl is an ingrate! Iâve said it before! If you ask me, instead of begging her, we should seek out the master who foretold Isoldeâs fate back in the day!â
Timothy Garrison maintained a stern face, also irritated, âIf I could find him, I would have ages ago without needing you to say anything.â
But ever since Scarlettâs car accident, he hadnât been able to contact that master again. Who knows what happened to the master?
Emma, having been rebuffed, didnât dare to argue with Timothy further, so she changed the subject, âIf that little brat doesnât want to help, she better not think about getting the bracelet left by the old lady!â
She turned and asked Josiah, âWhat about the bracelet?â
A flash of embarrassment crossed Josiahâs face. After a pause, he spoke, âThe bracelet, she took it.â
âWhat?!â Emma couldnât help but slam the table, âShe wonât help, yet dares to take the old ladyâs bracelet! This little brat is so shameless!â
Isolde, lying in bed, was equally angry, inwardly cursing her brother for being useless, allowing Scarlett to take away the bracelet. Didnât that let that wretch have her way?!

In a fit of anger, Isolde slammed her fist but forgot she was still receiving an IV. The needle instantly jabbed deeper into her flesh, causing the blood to backflow, and she couldnât help but cry out in pain.
âIt hurts...â
Her pained cries immediately drew everyone to her bedside, checking her hand with concern, amid the chaos, someone seemed to press on the bed frame, causing the half-raised hospital bed to suddenly collapse, throwing Isolde back onto the bed.
This shouldnât have been a big problem, yet Isolde cried of back pain. The Garrison family frantically pressed the call bell and called for doctors. After a thorough examination, it turned out sheâd sprained her back as well.
Emma immediately flew into a rage, berating the hospital for faulty infrastructure leading to aggravated injuries, causing quite a commotion. The irritable environment exacerbated Isoldeâs already minor concussion, turning it into a severe headache, and prompted another round of dry retching.
Timothy stood by, observing the chaotic scene with a sinking face, firmly deciding that Isolde couldnât continue like this.
Tomorrow, they needed to find a way for Isolde to meet Scarlett personally.
