The male lead engages in some abusive actions toward the female lead. If you're not comfortable with that, please stop reading here. I'm repeatingâstop now if this makes you uncomfortable. If you choose to continue and leave an unacceptable comment, I wonât argue; Iâll simply delete it. So read only if you're willing to see how I make male lead suffer for forgiveness.
Authorâs POV
"Nisha hurry up dear the groom has arrived" Sneha Bansal said knocking on her elder daughterâs room.
"Mom everyone is waiting downstairs. Come out."Aaradhya Bansal called out from outside.
"Go quickly call your dad and bring him" Sneha said sending Aaradhya to call her father. Aaradhya quickly ran to find him.
"What happened? And where is Nisha? Everyone is waiting for her" Vikas Bansal asked his wife. But the worried look on Snehaâs face made him realize something wasnât right.
He grabbed the spare key of Nishaâs room and opened the door.
Aaradhyaâs POV
"Where is Nisha?" my mother called out her voice trembling. We started searching her room but she wasnât there.
âwhat is this?â Papa said picking up a note which was stick to the mirror.
"Papa, Mom, I have told you many times that I don't want to get married but you didn't listen to me. Sometimes, I wonder if Aaradhya and I are even your real daughters. You both have treated me and Aaradhya like dolls since childhood but not anymore. I didnât want this marriage but you decided it for me. Now I won't follow your decisions anymore. I am stepping back from this marriage and I will build my own career without your help."
â Nisha
"Oh this was the day we had to see. We gave birth to her for this day" Maa cried.
I stood quietly in the corner of the room. Everything in that letter was true. My parents had never understood us. They always treated us like burdens.
Di wasnât ready for this marriage but the groomâs family was rich and Papa only cared about growing his business. Thatâs why he forced her.
"This is not the time to cry. We have to do something. I will never forgive this girl" Papa said angrily and look at me.
"What should we do now?" Maa asked in panic her voice.
"Aaradhya will marry Aarav instead of Nisha" Papa declared making me freeze in my place.
They wanted me to take my sisterâs place? No no I couldnât do this. I couldnât betray anyone like this.
"Pa...Papa I don't want to marry anyone" I stuttered tears streaming down my face. But the look in his eyes told me he wouldnât let anything ruin his image.
"Why don't you want to get married? I raised both of you for this day. Get ready quietly and come downstairs or no one will be worse than me for you" he threatened before walking out of the room.
"Mom I don't want to get married please..." I begged but she cut me off coldly.
"Get ready in 20 minutes. I wonât listen to anything after this" she said locking the door from the outside.
"Mom! Mom please I donât want to get married! Mom please..." I screamed but she didnât listen.
How could I marry the man meant for my sister? How could I betray him and his entire family? My mind was racing but I had no way out.
I sank to the floor my heart pounding in my chest. My parents words echoed in my ears and I felt like my life wasnât my own anymore.
Di had been the brave one the one who dared to say no But I couldnât. I didnât have the strength to fight them.
I looked at the wedding dress laid out on the bed. It wasnât mine but I was supposed to wear it now. My tears soaked the fabric as I ran my fingers over it.
âIâll do thisâ I whispered to myself. Not because I wanted to but because I had no choice. This was my way of paying them back for raising me even if theyâd treated me like nothing more than a pawn in their plans.
Aaravâs POV
I was waiting in the mandap indifferent to the rituals. This was an arranged marriage something my family wanted. I had no feelings for Nisha.
Her father placed her hand in mine. The touch surprised me it felt perfect like it belonged there. A strange sensation ran through me.
The ceremony continued but her face was hidden beneath a veil. I was about to lift it to apply sindoor when her mother stopped me.
"the bride's face is covered until all the rituals are completed" she said covering her face even more.
I applied the sindoor completing the rituals.
âVivaah sampann hua. Aaj se aap dono pati-patni hainâ the pandit announced and the crowd erupted in applause.
My mother stepped forward to lift my brideâs veil but her mother stopped her again.
"I need to talk to you all please" her mother said.
We moved to a private room with just close family.
"Nisha ran away from home before the wedding" her mother confessed hesitantly.
âWHAT?â my parents yelled in unison.
"Then who took Nisha's place and married Aarav?" Chachi asked lifting the brideâs veil.
âAaradhya? YOU?â my mother exclaimed in shock.
Her parents explained how Nisha had run away to be with someone else. Aaradhya stood silently tears streaming down her face.
âYou should have told us. We would have stopped the wedding!â my father said angrily.
"If the wedding was stopped both our families would have been very dishonored. That's why we did what we thought was right. Please forgive us" her father pleaded.
I stood there trying to contain the storm brewing inside me. My gaze flickered to Aaradhya her head bowed, her body trembling. Her tears were steady but she didnât say a word. She didnât need to. Her silence spoke volumes about the fear and helplessness she felt.
But fear wasnât going to save her or her family from me.
âYou thought you could play with the Yaduvanshi name and get away with it?â I said my voice is sharp and cutting like a blade. I stepped closer to her father who visibly flinched.
âThis isnât just a betrayal itâs an insult to my family. Do you have any idea what youâve done?â My tone grew harsher filled with controlled rage. âAarav Yaduvanshi doesnât forgive betrayal especially one that stains his familyâs honorâ
I turned to Aaradhya. She looked so small and fragile, her hands clutching the edge of her dupatta as if it could shield her. âAnd youâ¦â I paused my voice cold. âYou stepped into this marriage knowing it wasnât meant for you. You might think you had no choice but donât expect me to go easy on you just because youâre the scapegoatâ
Her shoulders shook as more tears spilled but she didnât argue. She simply stood there taking every word as if sheâd already accepted her fate.
I addressed her parents again my voice rising. âFrom now on Aaradhya is my wife and she belongs to the Yaduvanshi family. But donât think for a second that this ends here. Your betrayal wonât go unpunished. I will make sure you regret the day you decided to cross me.â
I turned on my heel my fists clenched so tight my knuckles turned white. The weight of what had happened hit me with every step I took. I wasnât just angry......I was livid. Theyâd disrespected me, my family and everything I stood for.
As we left their home Aaradhya walked beside me, her head still down her sobs barely audible. I didnât say a word to her but I couldnât shake the strange pull I felt when I glanced at her. She didnât deserve my sympathy but there was something about her brokenness that unsettled me.
No matter what emotions stirred in me, I wouldnât let them cloud my judgment. Aaradhyaâs family had made the biggest mistake of their lives and now they would face the consequences.
âThis isnât overâ I muttered under my breath loud enough for Aaradhya to hear. My words werenât just a promise.....they were a warning.
