Aaradhya's pov
"Yes, Iâm coming. Make sure everything is set perfectly" I hear Aarav Ji ordering Rahul about his important meeting. This meeting is supposed to bring a huge benefit not for him because he had everything. The Yaduvanshi empire doesnât need anyoneâs support, after all.
Itâs been a week since our bike ride and since that night, hugs and cuddles have become normal between us. One thing Iâve noticed is that heâs really possessive about me. Every day he brings gifts...small for him, but not for me.
Diamond necklaces, chains, rings, earrings, braceletsârare diamonds, not the usual ones. He doesnât bring just one piece but at least five every time, calling them âsmall giftsâ Rich people, I sigh.
I glance at him through the mirror. Heâs putting on his coat, still talking on his phone. My throat feels sore and itâs been aching badly since morning.
Suddenly I start coughing.
Cough cough cough.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Aarav Ji rushes to me handing me a glass of water. I drink it and he makes me sit on the bed.
"Are you fine now?" he asks and I nod.
But my cough gets worse.
Cough cough cough cough.
I clutch his bicep tightly as I struggle to breathe. My chest feels heavy.
Cough cough cough.
I rub my chest lightly trying to ease the pain. Aarav Jiâs face fills with concern.
"Maa! Chachi!" he calls out loudly while rubbing my back.
Within moments Maa, Chachi and the rest of the family rush into the room.
"What happened Aaradhya baccha?" Maa asks rubbing my back gently.
"I ca⦠canât⦠cough cough⦠breathe properly⦠cough cough" I manage to say between the relentless coughing.
"Donât worry the doctor is on the way" Chachu reassures me.
"Do you have any allergies beta?" Chachi asks and I shake my head still coughing.
The doctor arrives shortly and checks me thoroughly.
"She has a throat infection. Iâll prescribe some medicines. Make sure she has warm food like soup or tea it will soothe her throat" the doctor advises. "And she needs proper rest."
"Iâll make soup right away" Chachi says and rushes out of the room.
"You shouldnât go to college today" Maa says and I nod weakly.
"Take your medicines and youâll feel better" Papa adds before they all leave giving me space to rest. Only Maa and Aarav Ji stay behind.
Chachi comes back quickly with a bowl of hot soup.
"Here, beta drink this" she says handing it to me. I take small sips but halfway through, I put it away.
"I canât⦠cough⦠drink anymore⦠cough" I say my voice strained. Maa takes the bowl and sets it aside.
"Take your medicine now and rest" Maa says feeding me the medicine herself and leave.
"You should go Aarav Ji. Your meeting is important" I say looking at him. He shakes his head and walks to the closet. Moments later he returns in casual clothes.
"Iâm not going anywhere not when youâre in this condition" he says sitting beside me.
"But yourâ¦"
"Nothing is more important than my wife" he interrupts. "Donât talk much. Just rest. Iâm here." He pats my head gently his words filled with care.
How can anyone not fall for someone like him? My eyes grow heavier the medicine taking effect. I drift into sleep feeling safe and loved.
Aarav's POV
I watch her as she sleeps peacefully. Seeing her like this weak and in pain, terrifies me. I canât bear it. Sheâs becoming my everything slowly but surely. The more I learn about her the deeper my feelings grow. I canât even imagine my life without her anymore.
Whenever I gift her something, no matter how small, her reactions make it seem like Iâve given her the world. Iâd do anything for her if she ever told me to die, Iâd do it without a second thought, just because she asked.
Most people in her position would take advantage of the power and wealth they have access to, but not Aaradhya. Sheâs different. She values simplicity over luxury.
Sitting beside her I gently stroke her hair. Watching her gives me an unexplainable peace. Sheâs my comfort zone, the light of everyoneâs eyes.
At Noon
Iâve been sitting by her side all this time watching her. Occasionally, she coughs but itâs not as bad as it was earlier. Finally I see her eyelids flutter as she wakes up.
She looks at me and tries to sit up. I help her gently.
"Aarav Ji, you should have gone to attend your meeting" she says her voice soft but filled with concern.
I cup her face brushing my thumb over her cheek.
"Remember one thing, nothing is more important than you no matter what it is" I say firmly. Her eyes sparkle with emotion as she hears this.
She leans closer resting her head against my chest. I lean back against the headrest of the bed holding her securely in my arms.
"Why do you care so much about me?" she asks softly her voice barely above a whisper.
I smile at her question. This moment with her in my arms, feels perfect exactly what I want in life.
"Because youâre my wife" I answer honestly.
We stay quiet for a while, but the silence is comforting, not awkward. I gently stroke her back, enjoying the closeness.
"Howâs your throat?" I ask after a moment.
"Itâs fine now. Aur jab aap jaise family ho to koi problem zyada der tak nahi ruk sakti" she replies playfully making me chuckle.
"Aap haste hue bahut acche lagte ho" she says catching me off guard. My breath hitches as my face heats up.
"Oh my God! Mr. Aarav Yaduvanshi is blushing" she teases laughing and pinching my cheek. I canât help but smile shyly.
Iâm not the same Aarav Yaduvanshi I was a month ago. Sheâs changed me in ways I never thought possible.
Suddenly, we hear Maaâs voice.
"Aarav?" she calls. Aaradhya quickly moves away from me, and I feel a pang of disappointment.
"Yes, Maa" Aaradhya answers getting up from the bed. I follow her as Maa enters the room.
"How are you feeling now beta?" Maa asks concern evident on her face.
"Iâm fine Maa. Actually more than fine" Aaradhya replies with a small smile.
"Thik hai toh dono neeche aa jao. Tum dono ne subah se kuch nahi khaya" Maa says and Aaradhya looks at me shocked.
"You havenât eaten anything since morning?" she asks glaring at me. My adorable, caring wife.
"Pyar insaan ko badal deta hai Aaradhya" Maa saysnlaughing as she leaves the room.
"Letâs go downstairs. Iâm hungry now" I say grabbing my phone. Aaradhya goes to freshen up in the washroom and comes out looking refreshed.
As soon as we sit at the dining table Chachi asks her "How are you now Aaradhya?"
"Iâm fine now, Chachi" Aaradhya replies with a warm smile and I feel relieved seeing her back to her cheerful self.
My family really loves her. We had our meal while Maa and Chachi instructed her not to eat anything cold.
