chapter 2
My way to her heart (Wlw) (Teacherxstudent)
Diana's pov
I wake up to my alarm beeping loudly, immatiedly making me regret being alive. I check my phone, 7:30, school starts at 8:00. Of course I overslept, amazing start to the day.
My hands search for my clothes I chose last night after 3 breakdowns and 20 minutes of intense swearing. Simple black baggy jeans and oversized t-shirt, nothing fancy, who am I trying to impress anyway.
After I finally success putting my clothes on, brushing my teeth and hair, I hurry downstairs and grap an apple before taking my school bag and walking outside since my dad went to work already.
Obviously the streets are already full of people and the noise is more than enough to make my ears bleed painfully, at least almost. The school is close so there's no need to take a subway. I run to my new school and just when I thought everything was going well, I bump into someone.
"Shit! I'm sorry!" I mumble, looking up to see a tall, absolutely breathtaking woman with black hair and glasses. She looks Korean but also somehow American, I can't quite explain it.
"Watch out.....?" The woman in front of me trails off. "Diana, I'm Diana Miller." I fastly say, the look on her face telling me she was asking me my name without actually asking it.
"Well, watch out, Diana. I hope I won't see you running on the hallways again anytime soon." The black haired woman says, walking away without any other words.
I swear to myself, embarrassed to even look at her again. I have been in this school for 5 minutes and I already made one teacher dislike me, great.
Just when I start to walk, I feel a pat on my shoulder. "Diana!!!"Â A high pitched voice says, making me turn around.
"Chole, you scared the shit out of me!!", I complain in a clearly too loud voice because I hear a familiar voice behind me.
"Language, Ms. Miller" The same woman I bumped into calls out, making me groan loudly.
"Ugh, I think she hates me already, I bumped into her just 2 minutes ago. If looks could kill, I'd be dead by now" I chuckle, trying to navigate to our first class with chole, Math.
"This school is huge, she probably forgot you already and won't recognize you again." Chole tries to reassure me, somehow making me actually feel better.
We find the math class after 10 minutes of arguing and walking around the school. Just in time, too. We walk to the front row where we can see the teacher well, meaning we're actually going to focus in school. We both know we're going to focus on school for one day and then give up, but it's nice to think we're actually smart and good students for a while when we still have the motivation.
The class goes fastly, the teacher mostly just telling us about himself and the material we're going to learn this year. We also wasted 30 minutes playing some kids name game i remember playing in 6th grade with my class. We had to say our name and an animal starting with the same letter as the first letter of our name. The whole class was pretty sceptical about it, thinking we're too old for this, but I secretly enjoyed it, it was fun to feel like a little kid again. Also, why would I complain about it since we didn't need to study.
After class, we walk to our lockers and talk about the game we had to play, remembering how we became friends thanks to that game in 4th grade.
Suddenly, 2 girls walk to us with friendly smiles. One of them is taller with with a black wolfcut and baggy clothes, the other one is shorter with more girly clothes.
"Hey guys! I'm Abby, she's Nora" The taller girl says, pointing at the shorter girl, seemingly Nora.
"Yeah, hey! We sit behind you guys in math, we heard your conversation and you both are hilarious. Are y'all new here?" Nora giggles, Abby nodding In agreement.
"Oh hi, and thank you, we're flattered haha. Yeah, we moved here from California, this place is awesome. I already love this place" I say, closing my locker and turning to face them fully.
"Yeah, me too. I have always loved big cities, so moving to New York has been my dream for a while." Chole explains excitedly, clearly chuffed to be here.
"We're glad you guys like it here! We were wondering if y'all wanted to be friends? We can tell you everything about this school" Abby says, taking a step closer to us with a smile.
"Yeah, sure. We could use some help, we have no idea where our next class is, I think we have Chemistry.". Chole sighs, already feeling bored thinking of Chemistry. We both hate it.
"Oh my god, we have Chemistry next too. I just hope we get a good teacher, the last teacher we want is Mrs. Collins. She was my sister's teacher last year, a nightmare that makes you want to die, that's how she described it. Whatever you do, do not make her annoyed or you'll find yourself in detention." Nora rolls her eyes playfully, crossing her fingers.
"Absolutely, let's hope she's not our teacher. She's actually very scary, gives detention too easily and is strict as hell. She's hot, though" Abby shrugs , taking one more step closer to me.
We all talk for a while, Abby and Nora telling us everything they know about the school. After about 15 minutes, we head to the Chemistry class, noticing the teacher isn't there yet. We take seats on the front again, using every single drop of our motivation to study, knowing it will dissapear tomorrow morning.
"I bumped into a teacher this morning, she was so hot but the look she gave me was cold enough to make me freeze and its not even cold yet" I chuckle, Abby sitting next to me, Chole next to her and Nora next to Chole.
"I'd be soo embarrassed-" Nora starts to say but the door opens, and the teacher walks in.
I can feel my jaw dropping and I immatiedly feel embarrassed. Well, fuck. It's the same teacher who I bumbed into, of course.
"Fuck." Abby says and Nora groans.
"Of course she's our teacher." Nora sighs, already planning on skipping all of the Chemistry classes.
"Hey, class. I'm Mrs. Collins, your Chemistry teacher for this year. Im sure all of you have already heard of me for obvious reasons and I hope everybody understands I'm not here to teach middle school aged students. I must tell you all I do not tolerate talking in class, eating in class or distracting the class. If any of you decline following my rules, I hope detention helps you change your mind." The teacher says with a firm voice, writing her name on the whiteboard with big letters.
"Told you.." Abby whispers to me
"Guys...that's the teacher I bumbed into, oh god, she probably hates me already.." I whispers to the girls, apparently too loud.
"Ms. Miller, did you have something to say?" Mrs. Collins says, turning to look at me, causing the whole class look at me.
"If I had something to say to you, why would I whisper it" I challenge her without even thinking of the consequences.
"Oh yeah? Well, I hope you decide to tell me more about this on detention after school." Mrs. Collins says, raising her eyebrow.
"What?? I didn't even do anything! You can't give me detention for no reason at all." I huff, playing with my pen.
"Talking back to teacher is a great reason to send you in detention. It's about respect, Diana. Something you clearly don't have." Mrs. Collins says, leaving the whole class stunned.
I only sigh, deciding not to push her buttons more. She continues with the lesson and I turn to my friends.
"Yeah you guys were right, she's a nightmare." I say while rolling my eyes, causing Abby to chuckle quietly.
"Yeah, she is." Nora comments with a sigh.
The rest of the class goes by slowly, Mrs. Collins keeping an eye on me, already thinking I'll be a problem. She might be right though, annoying her was pretty fun.
After class, I walk out of the class with my friends, but not before I feel a hand on my shoulder, turning me around.
It turns out to be the one I really didn't want to see. "Diana, do not forget your detention after school. Be ready to write a small essay about respecting teachers." Mrs. Collins says, walking past us without waiting for an answer.
The rest of the day goes fastly and soon enough it's time for my detention. Chole and I give Abby and Nora our numbers and say goodbyes, but Abby stays with me.
"Hey Diana", Abby says casually as we walk towards the detention room.
"Yeah?"
"I was thinking if-", Abby starts but she doesn't get to finish her sentence because I I almost trip on the floor.
Luckily, Abby catches me on her arms and when I look up at her, she's already looking at me with a small smirk.
"You should focus on walking more" She chuckles, a warm sound.
"Shit..thank you for catching me.." I say with a blush, my heart racing a little.
Just then, I hear a voice behind us calling my name.
"Diana, stop that hugging and hurry up, your detention starts now."Â Mrs. Collins shrugs and walks past us to the class, expecting me to follow her.
"I need to go, sorry again..and thanks, see you tomorrow!" I say, taking a step back and waving before walking to the class behind Mrs. Collins.
"Take a seat, Diana." The teacher says, sitting down and not even bothering to look at me.
I sit down on the front row, taking my pen and waiting for instructions. And I get the instructions quickly enough.
"Take a paper and pen, write a short 200 words essay about why you should respect teachers and make it good." Mrs. Collins says with a neutral tone, giving me a paper and returning to her seat in front of the teachers table.
My head is blank and I feel like I don't even remember my own name anymore. After 10 minutes of thinking, I write something on the paper but my mind is mostly on Abby and our moment outside of the class before Mrs. Collins had to interrupt it. I can't help but think what could of have happened if she never interrupted us and will we just forget that. it's not like we kissed or anything, obviously we'll forget it.
After 20 minutes of swearing in my head and drawing random drawings on the paper, I finally write the last word of The small essay I had to do. I get up and hand the paper to the teacher.
"200 words like you asked." I say, feeling a little bit proud of myself for actually doing it without cheating, like using ChatGPT for help.
"..mhmm, you're free to go then. Try not to get in trouble again, and watch where you walk so you won't bump into me again." Mrs. Collins says, giving me a small nod.
I hurry out of the class, practically running home even though the streets are full of people. Once I'm home, I say hi to my dad and tell her about my first day before eating and walking upstairs to my room. I don't have homework on the first day of school so I just collapse on my bed and start scrolling through my phone.
I watch TikTok, Instagram, send streaks on Snapchat and check my messages. Only then I noticed Abby texted me.
Abby
Hi girl, how did the detention go?
You

Abby
Well, try not to get in detention tomorrow again.

I text with Abby for a while longer before I put my phone away and choose clothes for tomorrow. A long sleeved black top with a grey zip up hoodie and grey sweatpants. Nothing fancy again.
I take a shower and brush my teeth before going downstairs to talk with my dad and eat. After like an hour of talking, I decide it's time for me to sleep because I need to wake up earlier tomorrow.
