Chapter 325.1 The Way You Are (1)
After becoming Nicolasâ girlfriend, she took the time to familiarize herself with the Marshall familyâs circumstances and came across Troyâs photos online.
Little did she imagine that, even after their divorce, they would still be spotted together at the mall. Could they be secretly nurturing the hope of reigniting their love?
âUm, Troy? Meet Amber, my brotherâs girlfriend,â Imogen introduced.
Amber was met with a disinterested look from Troy, who chose not to say anything.
A trace of awkwardness crept over Amber, and she exchanged a brief, furtive look with Imogen. Imogen attempted to soothe the situation and said, âDonât take it personally. Thatâs just his way.â Amber stiffly nodded and changed the topic. âMs. Forbes, how about checking out our store? Weâve got some new arrivals,â she said.
âSure, letâs head in,â Imogen agreed after contemplating.
Amber led Imogen into the store to showcase the spring collection while Troy followed, holding onto his new stuffed toy.
The weather grew warmer, and it was time to don spring attire. Imogen chose a spring dress to try on, and Troy patiently waited by the dressing rooms.
Amber observed Troy from a distance and approached with a friendly tone, smiling as she asked, âTroy, are you and Ms. Forbes thinking about tying the knot again?â
Troy responded composedly, âIâm not a fan of folks who donât understand personal boundaries.â Amberâs complexion paled, and she quickly clarified. âI didnât mean toâ¦â
Before she could finish her sentence, Troy shot her a chilling, penetrating gaze.
Amber fell silent, reluctant to utter another word.
Suddenly, someone behind them affectionately patted Troyâs shoulder and exclaimed, âCousin?â
Troy turned slightly to gaze at the unfamiliar woman in surprise, arching an eyebrow. âDo I knowâ you?â He asked.
The woman possessed a captivating beauty, dressed in upscale fashion, and carried a limitedâedition designer handbag. It didnât seem like an intentional attempt to strike up a
conversation.
As she scrutinized Troyâs visage, her expression underwent a visible transformation.
Troyâs countenance darkened as he began to piece together the puzzle.
The lady snapped out of her thoughts, her cheeks red as she appeared apologetically. âIâm sorry, 1 mistook you for someone else. You look so much like my cousin.â
She had come across someone online who bore a striking resemblance to her cousin. Troy.
She even watched Troyâs speeches, which were almost as impressive as her cousinâs.
Now that she had a closer look at Troy, she realized this man was Troy she had seen on the Internet.
Troy furrowed his brow and quietly walked away.
âWait.â The woman called out, approaching with her phone. âCan I add you on Facebook?â
The woman quickly uncovered Troyâs meticulously tailored clothing, the sumptuous fabric, and

the exclusive branded watch adorning his right wrist, peeking out as he cradled the stuffed toy.
In the New York City, where social status often went hand in hand with luxury, it seemed highly likely that he was indeed Troy.
âSorry, I donât add strangers on Facebook.â
Troy declined and moved to another nearby seat with the stuffed toy.
The woman watched him walk away, a hint of regret in her eyes. She then shot a glance at Troy before turning her attention to Amber. âDo you have any new arrivals in your store?â she asked.
Amber was displeased that the woman was trying to get closer to Troy. She brushed her off and casually replied, âTheyâre over there. You may take a look yourself.â
The womanâs expression soured. How could retail employees in New York City be so rude? She would have preferred maintaining a positive image since Troy was still present. Otherwise, she might have to call their manager and lodge a complaint.
The woman glanced in Troyâs direction before turning and walking away.
Imogen emerged from the dressing room in her new spring dress, adjusting her collar in front of the mirror.
âMs. Forbes, you look fantastic in that dress. It suits you perfectly.â Amber complimented. Imogen stepped away from the mirror, inspected herself from a distance, and then turned to the side to evaluate the dress. âItâs decent.â
Her fair complexion and wellâproportioned body made almost any outfit look flattering on her.
Troy came closer, his eyes fixed on Imogen in the mirror. âYou look stunning. You donât need to change,â he said.
âAlright.â
Imogen folded a sweater and skirt before wearing her coat and heading to the checkout counter.
âArenât you going to pick out a few more pieces?â Amber looked at Troy and asked, âWith your great physique, pretty much anything would look good on you.â
Troy didnât respond to her.
Imogen chuckled, âWeâve got other matters to attend to. Maybe next time.â
âAlright. Take care.â Amber saw them off with a farewell.
Once Imogen and Troy had left, Amber returned to the store. A colleague with some free time approached her. âAmber, werenât those twoâ¦?â
Amber calmly nodded as if it were a common occurrence. âYes, they are. My boyfriendâs brother and his wife.â
âIâm jealous. Youâve got an awesome boyfriend.â Her colleague quipped.
Amber modestly smiled and replied, âThereâs more to it than meets the eye. Being ed to a wealthy family comes with its own set of challenges.â
âRegular folks have their share of problems, too.â
After a few more exchanges, they went their separate ways, and the colleague discreetly rolled her
eyes.
Amber hadnât been dating long and was already calling herself tied to a wealthy family. Whether she could marry into wealth was still a question mark!

Outside the store, Imogen noticed that Troy wore a distant expression. âWhatâs on your mind?â She asked.
Troy replied, âNicolas doesnât have great taste.â
