Troy took a deep breath and explained, âSarah has disappeared, and she might be in dangerâ¦â
Hearing him say this, Imogen felt somewhat helpless.
She didnât know how to make Troy understand that Sarahâs safety had nothing to do with her, and it was not an excuse she should sympathize with.
Besides, judging by Sarahâs demeanor during their conversation in the morning, there was absolutely no indication of any illness.
However, if Imogen voiced her thoughts, Troy would accuse her of lacking empathy.
âEven if Sarahâs not in any immediate danger, you would still go. You care about her, so why pretend otherwise?â Imogen said, âBesides, I donât have to explain anything to you.â
âI know you like Liam, but you shouldnât have chosen to meet him at this time and bring him to. see Grandpaâ¦â
âDonât you do the same? Going to see Sarah at this critical moment and bringing her to meet Grandpa, I was just doing the same thing as you.â
âSarah had an episode, and I had to bring her here to calm her down. You also said before that we could bring her here when Grandpa was in a regular ward, so why are you upset now?â Troy looked at Imogen, puzzled.
Imogen never expected Troy to justify himself like this.
Her husband was called away by another woman with just one phone call, didnât come back for a night, and the next day brought that woman to meet his elders. And yet, Troy asked Imogen why she was angry.
In Troyâs mind, Sarahâs condition was the top priority. When Sarah had an episode, Troy had to comfort her first. What a legitimate reason.
Troy never thought about comforting Imogen and instead accused her of lacking empathy.
Imogen smiled and said, âOh, I almost forgot to mention, Liam has always had fragile health and gets easily distressed. He really wanted to visit Grandpa, so in order to soothe his emotions, I had no choice but to agree. I hope you can understand, Mr. Marshall. You surely have some empathy, donât you?â
Upon hearing those words, Troyâs expression froze, and he said coldly, âImogen!â
âWhatâs wrong?â Imogen raised an eyebrow at him, asking, âIsnât this a normal thing? Mr.
Marshall, I donât understand. Why are you upset?â
âImogen! Iâm not kidding!â Troyâs brows furrowed as he stared at her intensely.
âIâm not joking with you either,â Imogen said seriously.
âAre
you deliberately trying
o provoke
me?â
Imogen smiled. âProvoke you? Why would I want to provoke you?â
âImogen, donât forget what you promised Grandpa!â
Imogen didnât expect Troy to use Henryâs words to threaten her.
She found it amusing.
âI only promised Grandpa that we would get along well. I didnât make any other commitments.â As Troyâs face grew even more sullen, Imogen smiled. âMr. Marshall, those were your very words

yesterday. If you can leave and spend a night with your lover, why canât I? Before you point fingers at me, perhaps you should reflect on your own actions first!â
Troy paused before saying, âIf that statement bothers you, I apologize. What happened yesterday was an emergency, and I never intended to break our agreement with Grandpa.â
Imogen looked at him with a mocking expression and said, âTroy, it seems youâve completely misunderstood Grandpaâs intentions! He wants us to truly reconcile and reconsider our decision to divorce, not just put on a temporary show of harmony to please him!â
âI understand,â Troy said calmly.
âWhat do you understand?!â Imogen retorted, âJust answer me. Have you ever considered giving up Sarah completely, separating from her, and not divorcing me?!â
Seeing Troy remain silent, Imogen smiled. âWhy arenât you saying anythingâ¦â
âI have considered it,â Troy interrupted her, looking into Imogenâs eyes.
Imogenâs voice choked momentarily.
Imogen scrutinized Troyâs sincere expression, searching for any hints of deceit, but no matter how hard she looked, she couldnât find any.
Imogen said, âTroy, donât lie to me.â
âIâm not lying.â Troy slowly approached and stood in front of Imogen. âI have genuinely considered separating from her, never getting a divorce in a lifetime.â
Imogen looked up, gazing into Troyâs clear eyes, feeling her heart in turmoil.
Imogen quickly regained her composure and said, âOkay, then answer me this. If Sarah calls again and says sheâs ill or missing, will you go find her?â
Troy fell silent for a moment.
you
Imogen noticed his hesitation and smirked lightly. âYouâre just thinking about it, but youâd better talk to me when you can actually take action. Alright, you can go back now. I need to rest.â
If Troy stayed the same, leaving just one phone call from Sarah, then his thoughts of not divorcing Imogen were useless.
Imogen didnât want a husband who could be called away by other women at any time.
Troy was a skilled deceiver, and Imogen didnât want to believe him anymore.
âAre you going to bed at nine?â
âIâm tired today.â
âDo you want to relax?â
âRelax?â Imogen looked up at Troy.
âYes.â
Troy stood in the shadow, with his face barely visible under the dim light.
âHow to relax?â
âSit still.â
Troy squatted down on one knee in front of Imogen, his hands resting on her thighs, gliding against her skin.
The temperature on his hands was scorching as he slowly caressed her.

A tingling sensation surged through Imogenâs body, causing her to tremble as she bit her lip. Troy observed her expression, lifted her skirt, and slowly explored.
âStop,â Imogen held his hand beneath her skirt.
âDonât want to?â Troy looked into Imogenâs eyes, slowly withdrawing his hand, and stood up. Imogen looked at Troy, lowered her gaze, and clenched her legs tighter.
Troy walked away.
Imogen tightened her grip on her skirt. She wanted to say something but remained silent eventually.
Suddenly, the sound of water came from the bathroom.
Imogen raised her head, saw that the bathroom door was open, and realized that Troy hadnât left but had gone to the bathroom.
After a moment, Troy came out, wiping his hands, and looked at Imogen.
Imogen quickly lowered her head.
Troy smiled and knelt in front of Imogen again, saying, âI rinsed my mouth.â
Troyâs fingers touched Imogenâs leg, sending a slight chill through her. Imogen trembled and tightened her grip on her skirt.
Troy held her hand and deftly moved her hands aside, gripping her knees gently and slowly parting them. âJust enjoy yourself.â
Imogen licked her lips lightly.
Perhaps it was the desire Troy had aroused in her last night, which had not been satisfied. Now, Imogen quickly became aroused.
Imogenâs body relaxed, leaning against the back of the sofa, closing her eyes, her breathing gradually becoming heavy.
Suddenly, a knock came from outside the door. âIs the patient here? May I come in for a checkâup?â
Imogen was startled.
Imogen hadnât been at the hospital last night or this morning, so she should at least do her examination tonightâ¦
Imogen was extremely grateful at this moment that it was a private hospital with excellent nursing service, and they wouldnât casually enter a private ward.
âSay something. Tell her to leave first.â Troy lifted his head and said.
Imogen gritted her teeth and took a deep breath. âSorry⦠itâs not convenient now⦠could you⦠come back later, please.â
âAlright. You take your time.â
The nurseâs footsteps receded.
Imogen let out a sigh of relief.
Troy turned and entered the bathroom.
After Troy came out of the bathroom, Imogen lazily leaned against the back of the sofa, wearing a satisfied expression. âYou can go now. I need to rest.â
âWright Sleep tight *
Troy walked away leisurely, closing the door behind him.
Imogen looked at the closed door and let out a slight sigh of relief. She closed her eyes on the couch, resting for a moment before pressing the call button to summon the nurse.
