562 Leila is Kiet?

“The rules are simple. If you get hit once, you are out and you can come over here and enjoy some snacks and cocktails. When I blow the whistle you can come to the front and pick up as many water balloons as you can and you have a thirty-second gap to run. You can utilise any part of the back yard including the maze,” said grandpa Lin enjoying this great power that comes with being a patriarch.

“We are going to let them win, right?” asked Yeoh Jun knowing fully well how much of a sore loser his wife was.

“If we do that and they find out it will only make things worse. I just got back into bed. I am not sleeping in the office again,” said Yi Zhen just crossing his fingers that they would lose for the sake of peace.

Yi Chen who heard all of this couldn’t help but turn his head to look at them. He let Zi Han win so many times but he never thought about what would happen if Zi Han found out that he was holding back. Realising that the penalty according to his father was getting kicked out of bed, Yi Chen suddenly felt unhappy. Recalling how hard it was for him to part with Zi Han over the years he didn’t want to go through that again.

“Just put up a fight but don’t make it too obvious when you slack off,” said doctor Kiet his gaze following Yi Feng where ever he went.

As soon as an agreement was reached the whistle was blown and they set off grabbing as many balloons as they could. They wanted to go easy on their partners in a not-so-obvious way but they had no idea how organised they were.

Zi Xingxi came up with a formation that put them at a disadvantage. Two marshals, one emperor, an Onyx federation renowned surgeon and a mech engineer were defeated in a heartbeat.

Why wasn’t uncle Lin included? It was because his own teammate took him out. When it happened he was hiding with them behind a brush when his back felt wet. “Why?” he asked and Yi Zhen’s answer then was,

“You put us in this situation in the first place brother in law,” he said and after being betrayed by his own teammates he walked back to the patio drenched in water. He looked like a wet poodle after being caught in the rain.

“Oh, my poor baby. Who got you? Was it your sister?” said Grandma Lin while wiping his hair with a towel.

“No, it was brother in law,” he said and none of them could sympathise with him.

“Dad, that wasn’t nice. Uncle looked so sad. He looked like he was going to cry,” said Ming Ming only for her father to say,n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

“You should be feeling sorry for me not him. Didn’t you see that your mum is angry with me,” said Yi Zhen but Ming Ming shook her head. It seemed she didn’t think her dad was sad at all.

“Shh shh, I I hear something. I think we should split up instead of staying as a group. If they catch us all then it’s game over,” said doctor Kiet and everybody nodded.

“You go left and we go right. Circle the maze,” whispered Yeoh Jun and they split up.

Yeoh Jun kept his head low while walking through the bushes with doctor Kiet behind him. When they reached the end of the passageway they heard the sound of Yi Youxi’s voice whispering loudly.

Yeoh Jun made some hand signals and doctor Kiet slowly approached the turn only for a water balloon to come falling above his head.

With a splash, the good doctor was eliminated by his future mother in law. Yi Youxi had long retreated after trying to drag his aunt back but she was immersed in gloating after her victory that she refused to return to base.

“Oh how I have been waiting for this day, Kiet and it feels so good,” she said while laughing manically like an evil supervillain after plotting her revenge.

Doctor Kiet wiped his face with a defeated look before asking, “Why do you dislike me? I have tried everything to make you like me but you always give me that side eye like I am a robber.”

Auntie Yi was a little startled. She didn’t think he would ask that. “It’s because you broke a perfectly good relationship. I knew my son liked Leila and you just swooped in and bam you had his stripe on your arm. I will pretend that I like you in front of him but I still don’t like you,” she ran her mouth making it difficult for Yeoh Jun to come out now and strike her with the water balloon.

“What?” asked doctor Kiet a little surprised.

“Yes sure, he denied that he liked her but I could see it. The way he smiled at her, the way they played together and went everywhere together it was obvious that they liked each other but you just had to sleep with him and bam Leila vanishes into thin air and I can’t even speak to her. Poor girl, she must be so heartbroken,” she said throwing a fit only for doctor Kiet to stare at her all wide eyed.

Couldn’t she recognize him? Was he that different in drag? How could she possibly not recognise that he was Leila in drag? It meant Yi Feng never confessed to his mother that Leila was he and he, Kiet, was Leila.

“I am Leila,” he said and Yeoh Jun who was enjoying the gossip dropped one water balloon by accident attracting auntie Yi’s attention.

“Is this an ambush? Did you plan this you cheeky bastard?” she yelled while running away but Yeoh Jun didn’t miss his target. With a dull pop sound, she was hit on the back and auntie Yi was out of the game just like that.

“You set me up just like you set up Laila. You are so unbelievable,” she said while tugging at her t-shirt that was drenched in water.

“Auntie, I didn’t set anyone up. I am Laila,” he said and the older woman looked at him like she was looking at a fuckin idiot.
