CHAPTER 3: The Ambulance
Sophies Seizures (true story )
The ambulance hurriedly pulled over, Sophie still was unconscious and had no idea what was going on. The ambulance checked every vital that he could and decided the best and safest way to get her to the hospital was Status 2 lights and sirens. As the ambulance officer lifted Sophie's weak body into a wheelchair, destined for the ambulance. Sophie murmured something, although no one knew what. Lifting her into the ambulance Sophie was finally able to half open Her eyes. To her surprise, and of all awkward things that could happen to her in the already terrifying situation she was in. The guy she had seen, the ambulance officer, was her crushes dad Eric. As she thought her situation couldn't get any worse. The ambulance doors were shut, from the back she saw her mum's car move, although she couldn't feel the ambulance moving. Able to slowly talk Sophie wad asked things such as "are you pregnant " and "are you on your period".Things that definitely aren't usually told to your crushes dad.
He then announced to me that he hated performing an ECG on girls and he tried to avoid it with as many patients as possible. Sophie stupidly asked "why" he just gave the simplest answer of its because of where the cables are placed. He then told Sophie because of her forever changing vitals, unfortunately, she would need an ECG. So now her crushes dad was performing an egg on her (a bunch of cables that go on your chest, so you can imagine where on a girl if you're old enough)
One last question was asked of Sophie by Eric as he walked back to the driver's seat "are you or have you ever been a smoker".Sophie replied with no and I never plan on starting to either. He replied, "good I just needed to know as you also have rather inflamed tonsils hence your start diagnosis of strep throat, although unfortunately, Ith myself believe it's something a bit more dangerous than that".As the ambulance was started Sophie said: "are you serious am I going to survive". He replied, " I won't let anything happen to you while you're in my hands I assure you, it's just with you being unconscious, and your jumpy vitals I would suspect something such as a Seizure". Sophie replied, " I was unconscious?, and surely I can't have had a Seizure could have I ?"
He drove the ambulance while talking to Sophie " you were unconscious you had been for about an hour, from the Doctors description I understand that your cousin stopped you from falling and causing more damage. You were then taken to the Gp, then now here you are", Sophie replied, "all I remember was my alarm ringing and me putting my uniform on this morning and now I'm here". Eric reassured Sophie that it was normal to forget things if you had had a seizure.
At this point, he stopped the ambulance and said:: " I just need to check your vital signs that's all". He then started to talk about how Sophie had a very similar way of acting, as his son my age did, when he had been knocked out playing rugby, pretended not to know his son, who I did know, after all, he was my crush, now his dad had told me much more about him . He played rugby against my school all the time, I had seen him play before. ALTHOUGH I never knew he had been knocked out.
Sophie's conversation continued in her head the whole way to the hospital. ...
