Down Bad
The first thing Mix thought that morning is how happy he feelsâan all-encompassing, light-as-air kind of joy. He stretches lazily in the middle of his small bed, wrapped in a cocoon of soft blankets and pillows, as the sun streams cheerfully through his narrow windows. The golden light seems to echo his feelings, warm and comforting.
A smile tugs at his lips, and he lets out a quiet giggle, burying his face in the pillow. His mind replays the events of last nightâthe way Earth had looked at him, the shared laughter, the gentle kiss that lingers even now. The happiness he feels seems to fill every inch of him, leaving no room for anything else.
After a few blissful minutes of daydreaming, Mix finally gets up, readying himself for the day. He hums a soft tune as he showers and dresses, the memory of Earthâs smile never far from his thoughts. Today feels like it would be good, and Mix hopes the positivity would follow him to school.
The classroom is a familiar comfort. Mix arrives early, setting up for the dayâs activities. He arranges the chairs, lays out the art supplies, and scribbles a few encouraging words on the whiteboard. The sound of tiny footsteps and soft chatter soon fills the room, and Mix greets each child with enthusiasm, their bright smiles adding to his already buoyant mood.
âTeacher Mix!â Edinâs voice rings, cutting through the morning bustle.
Mix turns just in time to see the little boy running toward him, arms outstretched. âHi, Edin!â Mix kneels to ruffle his hair, the affection between them effortless and genuine. But then Mixâs eyes wander, and they meet Earthâs. Earth stands at the doorway, watching them with a soft expression and beside him, Namtan standing poised, a distant smile.
For a moment, Earth and Mixâs gaze locks. Earth smilesâa warm, reassuring smileâand Mix returns it, though his heart feels a twinge of uncertainty.
From the corner of his ear, Mix hears snippets of conversation between the parents. âIâve never seen Mr. Pirapatâs wife before. She looks good.â
âThey look good together,â another adds.
They aren't married, fyi. A voice inside him says, dripped with sassiness.
Mix forces himself to shrug it off, pushing down the unease that bubbles beneath the surface. He turns his attention back to the kids, clapping his hands to get their attention. âAlright, everyone! Letâs settle down. Weâre about to start.â
As Earth and Namtan leave together, Mix steals one last glance at them and he feels his chest tightening. Just then, his phone vibrates in his pocket, and he pulls it out to see a message from Earth.
Iâm going to talk with Namtan about Edin. Just wanna let you know. Have a great day today ð¤
Mix chuckles softly at the brown heart and he stares at it a little longer. âSilly,â he mutters, a small smile playing on his lips. He slips the phone back into his pocket, pushing away the lingering doubts, and begins the class.
Earth and Namtan stop at a café near Earthâs workplace. The chatter of patrons creates a soft hum in the background as they sit at a small table near the window. It is an unusually sunny day, and the light streaming in makes the atmosphere almost cheerfulâthough the weight between them suggests otherwise.
A waiter arrives promptly, balancing their orders on a tray. Earth had chosen a simple black coffee, hoping its bitterness will ground him amidst the emotional whirlwind he feels coming. Namtan, on the other hand, had opted for a cappuccino.
âThank you,â they both murmured to the waiter, their voices polite but subdued.
No one initiates the conversation, both of them seem so immersed with their drinks. Namtan glances over Earth's and sees the other staring at his coffee. Seeing this, Namtan decides to break the silence. She wraps her hands around her cup, her fingers tapping lightly against the ceramic as if seeking courage.
âThank you for agreeing to meet,â she says, her tone soft and laden with an unfamiliar warmth. Her eyes search for Earthâs face, as though looking for traces of the man she once knew.
Earth takes a small sip of his coffee before responding, his voice measured. âAnything for Edin.â There is no malice in his words, but neither is there affection. His focus is singular: their son.
âI know you know why Iâm here,â Namtan begins, her gaze steady but her voice faltering slightly. âEarth, I know I made mistakes. Big ones. Iâve hurt you, and Iâve hurt Edin, but I want to make things rightâfor Edin... for us.â
Earth freezes momentarily, the coffee cup lingering near his lips. Her words hang in the air, and he studies her face carefully, searching for hidden motives. Her eyes hold regret, and her tone is sincere, but her final words stir a quiet confusion in him.
âWhat do you mean by that?â he asks, setting his cup down deliberately.
Namtan took a deep breath, leaning forward slightly. âI know you love me because I was always honest and straightforward,â she says, her voice firm now. âSo here it is: I want to rebuild. To rediscover what we had. For Edinâs sake... and for ours.â
Earthâs face remains impassive, but there is a flicker of somethingâdisbelief, perhapsâin his eyes. He sits back in his chair, his arms crossing defensively. âI have loved you, Namtan. You know that. But youâve been my past and right now, Iâm focused on the present.â
She releases a breath she never knew she was holding. Her lips part and her brows furrowing. âI am here now, in the present, Earth.â
Earth closes his eyes for a moment as he exhales deeply, thinking about carefully choosing his words. He opens his eyes and replies to Namtan, his voice soft but firm. âNamtan, weâre co-parenting Edin. Thatâs the focus.â
âExactly,â she replies quickly, her words almost overlapping his. âIsnât that what Edin needs? He needs a family, Earth.â
âWe are a family, Namtan,â Earth says, his tone resolute.
âA family? With Mix?â Namtanâs voice is sharp, her bitterness surfacing. âIs that what youâre trying to say?â She pauses, her eyes narrowing slightly. âIâve seen the way you look at him, Earth, but are you really sure about that? What will other people say? What will Edin think? Especially when he sees it, hears itâhow society will treat this little âfamilyâ youâre trying to build?â
Earth flinches slightly at Namtan's words, but his gaze remains steady, a quiet pain flickering in his eyes. âYou most certainly do not know your own son, Namtan. After all, you were not there when he was growing upâ he says evenly. âYou donât know what Edin has learned in life, what he feels, or how he views love. His innocence sees love, not labels.â
âYouâre using Edin to justify your choices,â she shots back, her voice sharp with spite.
âChoices?â Earth echoes, his tone rising just slightly. âLove isnât a choiceâitâs a fundamental right. Edin understands equality better than most adults. Why canât you learn from your child?â
The bitterness in her expression deepens, but there is no immediate reply. Earth leans forward slightly, his voice softening but remaining firm. âYou think so little of your son. He learns from everything and everyone he knows. Yes, heâs young, but heâs also kind and mature. He deserves to grow up surrounded by loveâreal love. And we are aware that he is too little for all of this, that's why weâre not forcing anything on him, Namtan. Weâre taking this slowly and seriously.â
âYouâre throwing away our family for this,â she says, her voice breaking slightly, disbelief written all over her face.
Earthâs lips press into a thin line. He breathes before answering, his voice calm but determined. âYou threw everything away first, Namtan. Never forget that.â
The weight of his words hangs heavily in the air. Namtanâs lips trembles, she opens here mouth to say something but no words come out. Seeing this, Earth stands and gathers his belongings. âI forgive you for everything,â he says, his voice even softer now. âIf you want to be a mother to Edin, Iâll never say no to that.â He adjusts the strap of his bag and glances at his watch. âI'll pick up Edin today and Iâll email you what we are suppose to discussâcounseling, co-parenting, supervised visits, transparency. But for now, I have to go. Iâm late for work.â
He turns to leave, his movements purposeful, but Namtanâs voice stops him mid-step.
âYouâre naive, Earth,â she says, her tone dripping with venom. âSociety wonât accept this. Youâre putting Edin through hell.â
Earth turns back, his expression unreadable, though his eyes glimmer with a mixture of sadness and disappointment. âSocietyâs acceptance isnât Edinâs benchmark for happiness. Your outlook, however, might be his lifelong scar.â
Without waiting for a response, he walks out of the café, leaving Namtan alone with her regrets and unspoken words.
At pre-school, Mix has given his students a short break: beads. He hopes that the hands-on activity will provide a refreshing pause from their lessons. The moment he distributes the bead sets, the children settle down quickly, their focus shifting entirely to the delicate task before them.
Excited exclamations echo through the room as the children share their plans with their friends. One announces she's making a bracelet, the other a necklace for his sister. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and Mix finds himself smiling as he watches their small hands deftly thread the beads, their faces scrunched in concentration.
His gaze sweeps across the room, lingering on each child briefly, until it lands on Edin. Unlike the other children, Edin sits still, beads clutched in his small hands but untouched. His eyes are fixed on something outside the window, staring blankly, unblinking. Itâs as if heâs lost in a world far away from the classroom.
Mixâs heart sinks. He knows Edin well enough to recognize that something is wrong. Quietly, he approaches the child, his steps slow and measured. He crouches down beside Edin, his movements careful, not wanting to startle him. But Edin remains unaware of his presence, his gaze still distant.
âEdin?â Mixâs voice is soft, almost a whisper, as he gently runs his fingers through the boyâs dark hair. The familiar touch seems to pull Edin back to the present. He blinks rapidly, as if waking from a trance, and turns his head toward Mix. His attempt at a smile is feeble and strained, his eyes betraying a confusion and sadness far too deep for a child his age.
âAre you okay?â Mixâs voice is tender, his concern etched into every word. He leans in closer, trying to meet Edinâs gaze, offering a comforting presence.
Edinâs eyes flicker with uncertainty. He seems to wrestle internally, searching for an answer to a question that should be simple but clearly, for him, it isnât. His small hands fidget with the beads, the colorful pieces slipping through his fingers like sand.
âIs everything alright?â Mix asks again, his smile warm and reassuring, trying to alleviate the weight Edin seems to carry.
The boyâs eyes finally meet Mixâs, but thereâs a confused vulnerability in them, as if heâs trying to make sense of feelings too big for him to understand.
He plays with his lips, a nervous habit he does. He looks around and makes sure no one is listening to them. When he finally speaks, his voice is soft, barely above a whisper. âSomsai asked me where Mama went. Why I only have Mama now and not before and Edin didnât know what to say. Edin doesn't like it when he cannot answer Somsai's questions.â
Mixâs heart clenches at the innocence and pain in Edinâs words. The child is struggling to understand the sudden changes in his family, changes that even adults find difficult to navigate. Mix reaches out, gently caressing Edinâs head again, his fingers threading through the soft hair in a soothing motion. âEdin doesnât always need to know what to say,â he says softly, his voice steady and kind. âAnd thatâs completely okay.â
Edinâs eyes widen, a flicker of light and hope breaking through the cloud of confusion. âIs it, really?â he asks, his voice tinged with both curiosity and relief.
Mixâs smile deepens, his eyes crinkling at the corners. âYes, of course. I think Somsai will understand and maybe someday, youâll know what to say. And when that day comes, you can answer Somsai then.â
A small, genuine smile appears on Edinâs face, the tension in his shoulders easing. He nods slowly, as if absorbing Mixâs words and whispers to himself, âOkay.â Thereâs a quiet resolve in his voice, a childlike determination that Mix finds both heartbreaking and beautiful.
As Edin turns back to the beads, his fingers now move with renewed, tentative enthusiasm. Mix watches him closely, seeing the boyâs shoulders relax and the spark of childhood curiosity return, bit by bit. Mix lets out a quiet sigh of relief, but his mind is already making a mental note that needs to talk to Earth about this.
Edinâs confusion and questions are signs of deeper struggles that canât be ignored. Navigating this emotional landscape will require patience and guidance from all of them. For now, Mix stays close, watching over Edin as the child immerses himself in the simple, soothing task of threading beads. The classroom buzzes around them, but in this small, shared moment, Mix silently promises to do whatever it takes to help Edin find his way through the changes.
The class ends, signaling the end of another day.
The childrenâs laughter fades as parents arrive, each one a whirlwind of love and relief, gathering their little ones into their arms. Mix stands by the door, waving goodbye, his smile warm and genuine. Each âthank youâ from the parents carries gratitude, and Mixâs responses are heartfelt, his eyes crinkling in a bright smile. He loves these momentsâthis connectionâbut a part of him always feels a tug of sadness when the room empties.
Soon, the classroom grows quiet. The colorful chaos is replaced by stillness. Only Edin remains, standing beside Mix, his eyes bright with mischief and familiarity.
"Itâs us again!" Edin exclaims, his voice full of playful excitement.
Mix chuckles, a soft, relieved laugh escaping him. After earlier's concern, seeing Edinâs goofy, bright demeanor again feels like a balm to his heart. "Yep, just us!" he replies, his voice tinged with affection. He ruffles Edinâs hair, feeling the bond theyâve built over time.
They begin their usual routine, tidying the classroom together. Edinâs small hands work alongside Mixâs, the boy treating each task like a game. Thereâs a rhythm to their movements, an unspoken understanding between them. Mix watches Edin, his heart swelling with a quiet protectiveness.
Suddenly, Edin pauses, clutching a few stray beads. His voice softens, eyes searching. "Teacher Mix.. If Mama is my mommy, why isnât she living with Daddy and me?"
The question hangs in the air, heavy and delicate. It hits Mix like a sudden gust of wind, stealing his breath. He blinks, momentarily stunned.
Thereâs an innocence in Edinâs voice, a raw curiosity that tugs at something deep inside Mix. He opens his mouth but no words come. How does one explain the complexities of love and separation to a child? It isnât his story to tell, and the weight of that responsibility presses on him.
Before the silence stretches too long, a knock at the door saves him. Mix turns, relief washing over him, and sees Earth standing there. His smile is warm, his presence filling the room with a quiet strength.
"Hi, buddy," Earth says softly, his voice filled with so much love it makes Mixâs heart ache. Edinâs face lights up, and he rushes to his father, wrapping his small arms around him. Earth lifts him effortlessly, holding him close, his eyes soft. "Howâs school?" he asks, voice gentle, but thereâs an undercurrent of worry.
Edin pauses, his eyes flickering with unspoken thoughts, but he smiles. "Itâs fun," he says, the cheer in his voice not quite masking the shadow beneath it.
Earth notices, his eyes narrowing slightly with concern. He glances at Mix, whoâs watching them, the worry in his eyes mirroring Earthâs own. Gently setting Edin down, Earth says, "Iâm going to talk to Teacher Mix for a minute, okay?"
Edin grins, mischief dancing in his eyes. He wiggles his eyebrows, the same teasing look he always gives when he senses something between them.
"Itâs not like that, buddy," Earth chuckles, ruffling his sonâs hair. His laugh is soft, but thereâs an underlying tenderness that makes Mixâs chest tighten.
When Edin runs to the pile of toys, Mix walks over to where Earth is standing.
"Hi," Earth says, his voice soft, eyes warm.
"Hi," Mix replies, his smile shy, his heart pounding.
Earthâs expression grows serious. "Howâs Edin?" he asks, concern etched into every word.
Mix hesitates, glancing at Edin. "You need to talk to him," he says, voice low, making sure Edin does not hear. "Heâs distracted. Unfocused. He has⦠questions."
Earthâs brow furrows, the weight of fatherhood pressing visibly on him. "Questions?" he echoes.
Mix nods, his voice barely above a whisper. "He asked why Namtan isnât living with you." He pauses, his eyes soft with compassion. "I didnât know how to answer."
A sigh escapes Earth, his eyes flickering to Edin, whoâs quietly playing. Thereâs a heaviness in his gaze, a mixture of love, guilt, and a sadness that seems to have no easy resolution.
"And," Mix continues, voice gentle but insistent, "a classmate asked him why he didnât have a mama before, and why he has one now. Itâs bothering him, Earth."
Earthâs eyes close briefly, as if absorbing a blow. When he opens them, theyâre filled with quiet determination. "Iâll talk to him," he says, his voice firm, almost protective. He meets Mixâs eyes, his gratitude unspoken but clear. "Thank you⦠and Iâm sorry for dragging you into this, again."
Mixâs smile is soft, reassuring. "Donât be. Itâs the least I can do. For Edin. For you."
For a moment, Earthâs gaze softens, something deeper passing between them. He stares at Mix, smiles genuine, filled with an emotion that lingers in the air between them. Earth notices Edin who steals glances at them. He looks at his son, chuckling because Edin doesn't even try to hide his smile.
"What is it, buddy, hmm?" Earth asks gently, and Mix turns to look at Edin.
Edin puts the toy he's holding, back to its proper place and walks over, stopping beside Mix. His wide eyes search his fatherâs face. "I like watching Daddy smile like that," he says softly, his voice full of innocent wonder. Earthâs heart seems to melt, his eyes glistening with unspoken emotion. Mix watches them as his own heart swells, the tenderness almost overwhelming.
Then Edin turns to Mix, his gaze steady. "Do you like Teacher Mix, Daddy?"
The question hangs heavy, startling them both. Earth has heard it before, but this time, he knows the answer matters.
"I do, bud," Earth says, his voice steady but filled with so much meaning it makes Mixâs breath catch.
Edinâs smile widens, his eyes twinkling, "Just like how Uncle First likes Uncle Khao?"
"Yes, honey." Earth replies.
Edin nods, grinning, gaze shifting from Earth and Mix. But then, his expression shifts, a shadow of confusion and this makes Earth uneasy. "What about⦠Mama?" he asks, his voice small but insistent.
Earth and Mix exchange a glance, the weight of the moment pressing on them both.
"Edin," Earth says, his voice soft, hand caressing his sonâs head, "everything you want to know⦠Daddy will tell you tonight. I promise."
Edinâs eyes sparkle, trust and love shining through. "Okay, Daddy."
Mix watches them, his heart aching with a bittersweet warmth. "You should go," he says softly, his voice thick with emotion. "So youâll have lots of time to talk."
Earth nods. "Is it okay if we drop off Teacher Mix on the way, Edin?"
"Yes!" Edin exclaims, grabbing Mixâs hand, his small fingers warm and insistent. Mix quickly grabs his stuff and closes the room, elated by Edin's enthusiasm.
As they leave, Earth carries Edin, one arm wrapped around his son. His free arm slips around Mixâs waist, pulling him close. The gesture is small, but it speaks volumes. Mixâs heart swells, hope and love intertwining in a way that leaves him breathless.
Once Earth and Edin arrive home, the evening flows in a familiar, comforting rhythm. The warm scent of dinner fills the air as Earth and Edin sit together at the small kitchen table, sharing stories about their day. Edin laughs between bites, his eyes sparkling as Earth listens intently, soaking in the little boy's joy.
After they finish eating, they clear the table together. Edin, eager to help, hands dishes to Earth, who washes them with a smile. The clinking of plates and soft hum of the faucet blend with their quiet conversation.
Simple, everyday tasks feel special when shared.
Night routines begin seamlessly. They brush their teeth side by side, their reflections in the mirror mirroring their smiles. Edin changes into his favorite pajamas, a soft blue set with stars, while Earth tidies up a few things. The childâs laughter echoes through the hall as he dashes to the bedroom, jumping onto the bed with boundless energy, burying himself under the covers.
âDaddy! Hurry up!â Edin calls, his voice muffled by the blankets.
Earth chuckles, his heart full. âIâm coming, buddy,â he replies, heading to the bedroom after finishing a quick work call. He enters to find Edin peeking out from under the covers, eyes wide with anticipation.
âWas that work, Daddy??â Edin asks curiously.
âHow did you know?â Earth says, his tone surprised as he settles into the bed beside Edin.
"Because your eyebrows are like this." Edin furrows his eyebrows exaggerately, trying to copy him, and Earth laughs at this.
Edin snuggles closer, his small head resting against Earthâs chest. The room is quiet, the only light coming from the soft glow of a nightlight. The quiet hum of the evening wraps around them like a warm blanket. Earth takes a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "Hey, buddy," he says, his voice gentle. "You had some questions today, didnât you?"
Edin nods slowly, his eyes searching his fatherâs face. " Edin.. is wondering why doesnât Mama live with us. Sheâs my mama⦠but she wasnât here before, and now she is. Why?" His voice is small, filled with an innocence that cuts deep.
Earthâs heart aches at Edin's the question after question, it just shows how confused the kid is. He takes Edinâs hand in his, his grip gentle yet firm. "Itâs complicated, Edin. Grown-up things can be messy sometimes." He pauses, his eyes distant, as memories of Namtan flood backâthe good times, the difficult times, and everything in between. "Mama had things she needed to do back then and maybe she was scared and the monsters kept her away from us and it took her a long time to defeat the monster, but despite that mama loves you very much. She always has. That's why she's back."
"But why isn't she living with us?" Edin asks, gripping his father's hand a little tighter.
"Bud... Sometimes, people who care about each other canât always stay together." Earth replies.
Edinâs brows furrow, confusion clouding his face. "But why not? Donât you like Mama?"
Earthâs smile is sad, tinged with nostalgia. "I do, buddy. Your mama is a good person. We shared a lot of moments that Iâll always be grateful for because they gave me you." He squeezes Edinâs hand gently. "But sometimes, even when two people care for each other, they canât make each other happy. And thatâs what happened with Mama and Daddy."
Edinâs voice is barely a whisper. "Did Mama make you sad?"
Earthâs throat tightens. He looks away for a moment, collecting himself. "We both made each other sad sometimes. We tried, but we couldnât fix it. It was very hard Edin but it made Mama and Daddy better and stronger so now we can protect you more."
Edin blinks, trying to keep his eyes dry. "But Mama left⦠Why did she leave?"
Earthâs heart twists. "Maybe she needed it, baby. She had her own struggles, things she needed to figure out. Sometimes, people need time to grow or to heal. Mama needed that time."
Edin hugs Earth tight, trying to anchor himself through his father's embrace. "Will she... stay this time?"
Earth hesitates, his eyes flickering with uncertainty. "I donât know, buddy but what I know is, is that Mama is trying. She wants to be here for you now. And I know she loves you. Sheâs working hard to be a part of your life again."
Edinâs voice trembles. "Does she love you too, Daddy?"
Earth sighs deeply, the question cutting deeper than he expected. "She did, in her own way and Daddy cared for her too. The thing is, love comes in different forms, Edin. It has many faces, like friends, family and even a someone special."
Edin tilts his head, something is obviously bothering him. "So, what isâwhat love is Mama?"
"She's family," Earth answer, smiling at Edin genuinely.
Without missing a beat, Edin asks, "And Teacher Mix is the special someone?"
Earth chokes slightly, caught between surprise and amusement. "You little cupid." He ruffles Edinâs hair as the boy giggles. "Yes, honey. He is."
Edinâs grin lights up the room. "I understand, Daddy. Like Somsai... I understand."
Earthâs brow furrows, confused at the sudden mention of a name he's never heard before. "Somsai? Whoâs Somsai?"
Edinâs face lights up. "Edinâs special someone," he says matter-of-factly, his honesty catching Earth off guard. Before Earth could ask again, Edin continues. "Somsai has a daddy and two mamas. He said itâs hard at first, but later itâs great because thereâs so much love around."
Earth watches Edin as his child continues to talk. awestruck by his words.
"Thank you, Daddy," Edin says, his voice earnest. "Edin wants to understand so that Edin will know what to say to Somsai. Edin was confused and scared. I was afraid Mama would leave because I have a new friend like Teacher Mix and I am scared that Teacher Mix would be sad because Edin thinks Teacher Mix is scared of Mama because Mama made him cry once."
Earthâs heart clenches at his son's thoughtful words. Edin isnât just curiousâheâs trying to understand, to ensure he treats everyone he loves with fairness. The depth of Edinâs compassion fills Earth with both pride and a gentle ache. He chuckles softly, wiping at his eyes as a smile breaks through, because who is this Somsai? he wonders.
"Edin?" Earthâs voice is warm, filled with curiosity.
"Daddy?" Edinâs eyes are wide, his gaze full of trust.
Earth hesitates for a moment, then softly asks, "Is it okay... even if itâs like this? Daddy liking Teacher Mix and being friends with Mama now?"
Edin tilts his head, contemplating the question. His small brows furrow in concentration as he searches for the right words, his young mind processing the complexity of love and relationships. Finally, his face lights up with a gentle smile. "I want Daddy to smile. I want Daddy to be happy. Whatâs wrong with that, Daddy? Itâs love... itâs family... and a special someone." Edin says, remembering Earth's words about the faces of love.
Earthâs voice softens, filled with emotion. "But what about Edin? Daddy also wants Edinâs happiness."
Edinâs grin is radiant, his eyes shining with certainty. "Edin is happy, Daddy. Very, very happy. I have Daddy, I have Mama, and I have Teacher Mix." Each word is spoken with conviction, a declaration of the love and security he feels. "And Somsai and Somporn andâ"
âand the list goes on. Names he's heard and haven't heard before and Earth smiles because he sees how Edin's circle grows. Earthâs pulls Edin into a tight hug. The little boyâs arms wrap around his father, holding him close.
For a moment, they sit there in silence, the warmth of their shared understanding wrapping around them like a protective shield. The world outside fades away, leaving just the two of them, cocooned in love and quiet connection.
Edinâs breathing slows, his small body relaxing in Earthâs embrace, his eyes growing heavy with the pull of sleep. Earth gently cradles him, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. As he watches his son drift off, a wave of gratitude washes over him, deep and overwhelming. The challenges, the uncertaintiesâthey all melt away in this moment of pure connection.
With Edin in his arms, Earth feels a sense of peace he hasnât known in a long time. Whatever tomorrow holds, moments like this remind him of what truly matters. Loveâmessy, complicated, but always worth it. And with Edinâs quiet trust anchoring him, everything feels right.
