"How could this have happened when everything was normal?"
- Joan Didion, The Year Of Magical Thinking.
DARYA P.O.V
"I want to know how the fuck that bastard is alive" I snarled the moment I entered the farm house in Elegance Pack.
Once the news of Konrad being alive reached us, we called for an immediate meeting in the Elegance Pack farmhouse. It was four in the afternoon and everyone was present here. The children too were here because their parents were too scared to leave them at home.
"Language" Vanessa admonished with a frown and I scowled at her.
"Screw language. I just want to know HOW that monster is alive. I had stabbed a sword right through his heart. RIGHT THROUGH HIS HEART" I stressed through gritted teeth. "I had pierced a hole in his heart. Stopped it from beating! Then HOW the fuck is he still alive?" I growled as my wolf bared her fangs.
"He was dead. I had checked his pulse" Granel pointed out and Cortez nodded.
"Ruben" Sel called loudly and only then I noticed him. He had changed a lot in the two years since I had last seen him. Grown tall and muscular, but he still possessed that remarkable je-ne-sais-quoi that won everyone's heart.
"What did you mean when you said Konrad cannot be killed?" She asked him.
"He cannot. I had heard my dad talking to his friends... something about him being invincible."
"Invincible?" I hissed.
"Why didn't you tell us this before?" Duncan snapped at him.
"I didn't think it was true. How can it be true? I mean invincible was too much to believe.... but now I know it is true because I met him today."
"You went to meet him?" Sel growled.
"He bumped into him" Malory corrected.
"I didn't know what had happened here. No one had told me and Konrad knew that too. He was waiting for me at the airport and asked me to greet Malory on his behalf. I thought he had hurt her or something... but she was fine and so was everyone. When I told Cortez what Konrad had told me, he was shocked and then I came to know he was supposed to be dead for you all!" Ruben said grimly.
"He is enjoying this. He has been attacking my friends too"
"He killed Nancy" Duncan said and I nodded. I saw the CCTV cameras. Nancy was her usual happy self when she came to the farm. She had been making pot-pourri when she had stiffened, turned and lost herself. That monster had hypnotized her and forced her to kill herself.
My wolf whined slowly when she thought of Nancy who was a very dear friend.
"And Katherine. Her falling near my feet the moment I step out of the building was no co-incidence. He was sending me a message" I told quietly. Two innocent people were killed by that heartless monster.
"Is he really invincible?" Malory asked shakily.
"I don't know" Ruben replied truthfully. "But she said she stabbed him with a knife. If he is alive even after that then what else are we supposed to think?"
"That there is another way" It was Quillon who spoke for the first time. He was sitting in a single couch, quietly, listening to all of us.
Every head in the room turned to look at him. "What do you mean?" Tyson asked him.
"There is a way to kill Konrad. But before that we have to figure out what went wrong the first time" Quillon said briskly and I furrowed my brows. "He is not God!" Quillon said flatly and I compressed my lips.
He wasn't. He was a devil's spawn!
"Exactly. We have to find out how he survived the first time!" Duncan agreed.
"How can we find that out?" Piper asked him. My wolf too was curious to know what was going on in Quillon's head.
"Call Vincent and Kasey. I will call Quinn" Quillon said pulling out his phone from his pocket.
I didn't understand why Quinn was needed but I had already called Vincent because I wanted to know how he didn't see this from happening. He was on his way and would be here in an hour.
__
While we were waiting for them to join us, I went and sat next to Quillon. "Is something bothering you?"
"Two things" he said and I waited for him to continue, but he didn't.
"And they are?"
"Konrad being alive and another... later!"
I wanted to know more but I didn't probe because he seemed really bothered by something. A few seconds passed before Quillon got up and shambled towards Malory.
Sel came and sat next to me at that moment. "Did Konrad do anything to you?"
"He scared me with his unexpected presence but other than that nothing was new" I told her wryly.
"I still don't understand how he is alive!" Tyson mumbled.
"He is no ordinary wolf" Ruben said and I raised my lashes to look at him. "He isn't completely a wolf either and you people already know that he was created. Somewhere amid all these facts lies the answer to this mystery."
"It is a mystery" Granel admitted grudgingly.
__
An hour later, Quinn, Vincent and Kasey were also present in the farm house. While Kasey and Quinn looked tired because of a hectic day, Vincent looked pale.
I hugged him the moment he climbed out of the car.
"He is really back?" Vincent had asked me with a gulp.
"He is. I saw him with my own eyes. Ruben met him too. How didn't you see this?"
"I have never met Konrad, Darya and hence I cannot see his future. He is just an unidentifiable object to me when I see your future" Vincent reminded me and I bobbed my head.
"You look worried" I said while we walked indoors.
"I am worried. Who isn't?" Vincent let out a grave chuckle. "When we thought things are better, this happens" he shook his head. "You do realize he is going to be worse this time?"
At this, I swallowed audibly. I knew that. Konrad is going to be worse this time. I don't know what else gifts he possesses.
__
"I knew it! I bloody knew it!" Quinn said loudly, which got everyone's attention. "I always knew there was something fishy about him. That is why I was telling you not to kill him."
"What is he saying?" Cortez asked Quillon with a frown.
"My wolf hasn't figured it out yet but there is more to Konrad than it seems. I am sure he has gifts that he had kept hidden from the rest of the world. Before today, it was just a doubt but now it got confirmed" Quinn said shaking his head.
"What gift?"
"What was your wolf telling you?" Tyson and I asked at the same time.
"I don't know what his gift is but it has obviously helped him survive and my wolf was always suspicious of his gifts. When Konrad came that day to our pack, my wolf had quivered in apprehension. He was scared of Konrad. Warning me not to attack him or get in his way. It is the same way my wolf behaves with Q's or Darya's wolves. Whenever they are angry, my wolf warns me not to get in their way!"
"There is more to Konrad than it looks. He is different from all of us... For fuck's sake he feeds on werewolves. So obviously there is more to him!" Vincent growled out in frustration.
"Even that day my wolf felt agitated and I kept trying to connect with Q. My instinct was telling me something wrong was happening and I wanted to warn Q not to do something hastily. But by the time I reached there... it was too late. Konrad was dead... or so we thought" Quinn finished bleakly.
"Didn't your wolf tell you anything at that time?"
"He was confused. Couldn't believe he was dead even after checking his pulse. But then everyone declared Konrad dead and I convinced myself and forced my wolf to do the same."
"So your wolf never really believed he was dead?" Tyler asked Quinn and he shook his head.
"Why didn't you tell us this before?" Sel asked him with a frown.
"He didn't believe anything was wrong. But now that we know Konrad is alive, let us also find out how he is alive" Quillon declared.
"How?"
"You, you and you" Quillon pointed at Vincent, Kasey and Ruben respectively. "Along with Quinn try to figure this out. See each other's past, present, future... whatever! I don't care. Just give us an answer" Quillon commanded and my eyes widened.
Yes! That's the way. Kasey can try to see Ruben and Quinn's past and figure what their wolf has been telling them and Vincent... well, he can see what is going on in Kasey's head. The vision of their past will be her future and Vincent can try to decipher it!
__
They agreed to do it. But they needed a quite environment and so, they had gone to the meadow while the rest of us stayed in the house.
As I was very thirsty, I kept drinking the cold mango juice that was stocked in the fridge. While doing so, I watched Quillon, who was in a bedroom and talking angrily to someone on the phone.
Holding the bottle in my hand, I strode towards him, "Don't lose him. Not even for a second. I want complete details on everything he does" Quillon growled and cut the call.
I stared at him questioningly and then my eyes widened when I grasped that he was probably talking about Maxwell!
"Maxwell is involved with Konrad?" I asked Quillon with a low growl.
"He is" Quillon confirmed. "And so is someone else" he said icily and I inhaled sharply.
"Who else?"
Just then a loud plaintive cry from a child caught my attention and soon we followed the sound. The children were playing in the backyard, but the cry could be heard coming from the pool beside the house.
"Stop it! Don't cry" Lorcan was telling Glory, who was sitting on the ground and howling like a burglar alarm. Her pretty little face was flushed pink as fat tears rolled down her cheeks.
Oh dear! Where is Malory?
"Glory" I gasped and rushed towards her. But it was Quillon who reached her before me. My mouth dropped open when Quillon picked her up and held her in his arms.
My God! He looked spectacular while holding a kid.
"What happened here?" I asked Lorcan, who was scowling at Glory.
"She fell" he retorted angrily.
"How did she fall?" It was Quillon, who asked that question. To my surprise, she even stopped crying!
Since when did Quillon become friendly with Glory? How did I miss this?
"She slipped" Lorcan said jutting his lower lip as Quillon wiped her tears.
"Hurting?" Quillon asked Glory in a surprisingly tender voice and I watched in amazement as she nodded and pointed at her knees, where her fragile skin was scraped.
Uh-Huh!
"Oh My God! What happened here?" Malory asked taking her daughter from Quillon.
"Lorcan. What did you do?" Sel asked her son when she saw the blood oozing out of that little cut from Glory's skin.
"I didn't do anything" Lorcan replied offended that his mama blamed him.
"Then how did she get hurt?" Sel asked him and he lowered his head.
"Rina asked me to call Glory to play. While we were going, she fell" Lorcan shrugged.
"He was pulling her. She didn't want to come" Caden said. My body shook with silent laughter when I saw Lorcan shooting daggers at Caden.
"Yes! He was running very fast and then Glory fell" Severina supplied.
"Lorcan" Sel called in a warning tone when she saw him glaring at Caden and Rina. "See what you did! She is hurt now!" Sel scolded and then lowered her head to inspect Glory's wound. "Poor baby" she mumbled.
"Little bear, drop it! The cut isn't that deep. My daughter likes to overact" Malory said shaking her head.
"I didn't do anything. She fell" Lorcan screamed.
"What is going on here?" Duncan asked loudly.
"Take your son away. He hurt poor Glory" Sel told him, her concern for Glory.
"Aww... it's not his fault" Malory told running a hand over Lorcan's blonde hair. It was funny, the way they pitied each other's children than their own.
"Come on! Let's go" Duncan said, easily picking Lorcan up and throwing him over his shoulder.
"She fell. I didn't push her" Lorcan kept screaming all the way, right until the moment Duncan lowered him to the floor. "It is not my fault"
"I know baby. But she is younger than you and has got short legs. She cannot run as fast as you" I said gently kneeling in front of Lorcan.
"She is a crybaby" he grumbled with a cute scowl.
"Don't be like that. Glory is a sweetheart. She wasâ"
"Everybody likes her" Lorcan shouted and my eyes widened in surprise.
"Hey, Lorcan. Don't shout and listen to what Daroo is telling" Duncan told him.
"Mama likes her. Papa likes her. You like her" Lorcan went on with a frown.
"No. We like you" I said holding his soft hands.
"I don't like her" Lorcan hissed, harshly pulling his hand away from my hold and running out of the house. My eyes rounded when I saw his retreating figure.
"Wow! What a temper" I muttered in a daze
"A gift from his mother... don't you think?" Duncan chuckled and I grinned. I had to agree that temper wise, Lorcan was the same as Sel!
__
Another ten minutes passed before Kasey, Quinn, Vincent and Ruben returned. They all looked grim and shaken, which made my heart thud in my chest. I gulped audibly as I felt Goosebumps all over my skin!
Bad!
Just bad news!
"Well" Sel probed when no one uttered a word.
"He is alive" Vincent confirmed and I nodded, waiting for him to continue. "Very much alive."
"He was never really dead. Just stayed hidden until..."
"Until he found out who the soothsayer was" Quillon finished what Quinn had started. I felt the color drain from my face as I feared for Vincent.
"Yes"
"How is he alive?"
"What had your wolf been trying to tell you?"
Quillon and I asked Quinn at the same time.
"My wolf was telling me about Konrad's gift. He feeds on blood. Blood makes him stronger. You once said it Darya, that the more blood he drinks the stronger he becomes" Quinn reminded me and I nodded hesitantly. However, I still didn't understand how it was all linked.
"He isn't... normal" Ruben said struggling to find a suitable word.
"We all know that" Cortez said flatly.
"Yes... but do you remember that he wasn't born like us. He was created for one and only one purposeâ obliteration! My dad and his friends, they wanted Konrad to be their strongest weapon. A weapon that was invincible" Ruben said painfully and I felt a cold shiver run down my spine. Is it true? Is Konrad really...
"They made sure he couldn't be defeated or... killed" Kasey whispered the last part, her voice wobbly.
"Get to the point" Sel said impatiently.
"The point is that he should not have been killed the way he was killed" Quinn growled and I gasped out loudly. "We underestimated him... we all did!" he added quietly and my wolf whined inside me wondering what more was to come.
"That day.... He kept baiting you so that you could attack him" Kasey said to me and I stared at her in disbelief.
"He wanted to be killed that way" Vincent said and my mouth fell dry as my heart sank to my stomach.
He wanted me to attack him?
"But killing him that way provoked him a lot" Vincent added bleakly.
"What was wrong with the way he had been killed?" Raven asked.
"His blood should never spill on the ground" Quinn breathed out and I heard several sharp intakes of breath.
I felt the ground beneath my feet collapse after I heard those words. His blood...
"I... I... I hadâ"
"His blood had spilled to the ground that day" Kasey said looking at me and I knew it was true. My heart pounded in my chest as I felt sweat coat the corner of my head.
Oh dear God! What did I do?
"Not only that" Quinn said and I looked up, startled to hear that there was more. "You fed him blood" he said, his eyes fixed on mine shaken ones.
"What?" Quillon voiced that out.
I was profoundly bewildered. I fed him blood? How? When?
"The sword... he had killed Nick with that sword" Kasey said, biting her lower lip to stop her lips from trembling.
Shaken, I fell on my knees and Sel rushed to me. She wrapped an arm around me, people called me but I as well as my wolf had lost focus and could only remember what happened that day. What I did that day?
I had killed Konrad with the same sword he had killed Nick. I had.... I had fed him blood. Brought him back... alive!
"Nick's blood revived him andâ" Quinn hesitated.
Was there no end to this? What was left?
"And?" Tyson asked.
"And made him stronger. Gave him more powers. I don't know exactly how... but he is twice as strong this time" Quinn said, his eyes fixed on the floor.
For a long time I couldn't breathe. No one in the room spoke a word and the thunderous silence simmered while everyone tried to recover from this unexpected news.
My wolf paced inside me, totally bewildered on what to do next. She was scared as well as angry. Scared for the future and angry, because he was still alive!
Konrad was alive. He was back.... with vengeance.
We all thought our future would be fine but now... there would be the same and lot more of death, killing, mourning, pain and never ending misery.
He would not spare anyone this time. This time he would be worst and I didn't need any soothsayer to tell me that.
He would attack everyone that is close to me and I, trembled just thinking about it.
"Darya" Quillon called me and in a daze, I looked at him through cloudy eyes as he wiped my tears with his thumb.
"I am fine" I whispered and struggled to smile. "Just shocked."
"We all are" Sel agreed quietly and she was right.
__
As we were returning to our home, I couldn't help but think what to do next. Konrad had already killed two people and I didn't know where he was and what his next move would be.
I clenched my fists in my lap and gritted my teeth as his smirking face appeared in my mind. He had been deliberately taunting me that day until I attacked him and I like a fool went and did the same. But what was difficult to comprehend for me was the fact that he was undead.
How can we kill him without spilling his blood to the ground?
My wolf too was struggling to understand the way and howled, asking help from her mate.
"We will talk about this later" Quillon, who was driving the car, said without looking at me. I turned my head and noticed his tense features.
"Why not now?" I wanted to know everything that was bothering him. It had to be something big if it worries him so much!
"Now is not the right time" was his reply.
Sighing, I gazed at the road and realized that Quinn's car, which was in front of us was nowhere in sight. I looked at the rearview mirror and I couldn't see it. Only then I realized that we were going in some other route.
"Quillon? Did you get lost or something? This is not the way to Serene" I muttered looking out of the window.
"Not lost. We are going somewhere"
"Where?"
"You'll see"
And Quillon did show me... the truth!

MEANWHILE IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF EMEPEROR PACK....
Once Wesley was in the last stair, he pushed the door open and stepped into the open terrace of the old, vacant building. As soon as the cold evening breeze hit him, he rubbed his hands together.
The winter was here and he already felt as cold as ice. His jacket couldn't protect him from the cold either.
"Is there any reason for this little get-together?" he asked, watching Sanity, who was standing at the far end of the terrace, gripping the railings with her hand. Wesley marveled at the fact that her knuckles hadn't gone white. Then again why would it? She was a wolf and all the wolves had thick fur that protected them from cold.
Like always, Wesley wished he was a wolf too because if so he would not only be warm now, but he might have also been able to kill Darya on his own.
"She was not the one who called you. I did"
Wesley straightened and only then realized that there was another person standing in the terrace. The person had his back to Wesley and was staring appreciatively at the view of the countless stars and one bright moon in the sky.
Covered in a long, black coat, black trousers and boots, the person seemed totally relaxed, which made Wesley frown.
"Who are you?" he asked straightaway.
The stranger lowered his head and then turned his head to show his spectacular and flawless face to Wesley.
Konrad!
Shocked to the core, Wesley stumbled back a few steps. "G-G-Ghost" he stuttered and then looked at Sanity, who cocked a mocking brow.
"Not ghost my friend. He is very much alive" a third person, who joined the get-together stated proudly.
Wesley turned his head to look at Maxwell, who too walked into the terrace with a grin on his wrinkled face.
Maxwell started working for Konrad just few weeks before Cable's death and he had already proved his loyalty to Konrad by providing him information about Quillon.
"But... but she killed him" Wesley whispered, still finding it hard to believe that Konrad was not dead.
He had been sure Konrad had been dead. After Darya killed Konrad, Wesley had lost all hopes and was planning to leave the town for good until Maxwell and Sanity approached him and asked him to stop. They had said they had a new plan which would help him have his revenge. Believing them, Wesley had once again begun working in Darya's farm to get new information about her.
"Death is for those who are born" Konrad said and strode ahead with a calculating smirk on his face. "But I, was never born" he said shaking his head.
"Darya killed you" Wesley whispered helplessly.
Konrad clucked his tongue and shook his head, "Sweet little Darya thought she killed me with her plastic toy."
Wesley paled because the plastic toy that Konrad was referring to was a samurai sword that apparently Darya had punctured to his heart.
Clenching his fists, Wesley shook his head in disbelief. Stared at Konrad and walked away. He pulled a packet of cigarette from his pocket, placed one between his lips and strived hard to light it up. But once it was lit, he took a long, deep breath and then let it out.
"How? How did you manage to survive through that?" Wesley asked staring at Konrad, who was standing in front of him and breathing. Not a single scar or wound marred his features and Wesley was perplexed.
"Planning. It all took planning and patience" Konrad whispered and then faced the scenery. "Lots of patience" he added slowly and Wesley gulped.
"Lots indeed" Maxwell agreed because Konrad had stayed hidden from his enemies for almost a month.
"You knew he was alive?" Wesley asked the other two people present in the terrace.
"I came to know just a week after... but she knew" Maxwell answered Wesley. The she referring to Sanity.
Wesley released smoke from his mouth and then scratched his head. "I still don't get it... how?" he inquired looking at Konrad's back.
"Blood is what made him. Blood is what he feeds and blood is what that saved him!" Sanity replied with poise.
"Blood?"
"Drops of blood were pooled by my father and his friends before my birth. They had all spilled it on the fire and from there, I came to this world. I had been given various gifts but one of them was what that saved me that day. My blood should not be spilled to the ground and Darya, in her anger, spilled it just like I wanted it. She made me stronger and I have to thank her for that" Konrad said honestly and Maxwell chuckled.
"Stronger? How so?" Wesley demanded.
"Like this" Konrad replied and he showed Wesley exactly how.
__
Twenty minutes later, all of Wesley's doubts were cleared and he sat on the table and smoked continuously. Konrad was strong. There was nothing in this world that could defeat him now! Not Darya. Not Quillon.
"Thank-you for killing Nancy. She was proving to be a real menace" Wesley told Konrad, who barely acknowledged it.
"You were careless. That girl was one step away from finding your truth" Maxwell scolded and Wesley rolled his eyes.
"She wouldn't have"
"She would have. She had gathered proofs against you and was about to show them to Darya. That is why Konrad had to burn everything"
"Including her?" Wesley chuckled and Maxwell shook his head.
"What next?" he asked Konrad.
"Next... I have a chit-chat with my enemy"
"Darya?" Maxwell queried with a growl. He hated that she-wolf! She had to come in between and ruin all the plans that he had for Serene Pack. Just like Wesley, he too wanted her to be dead.
"No. Quillon Sanders" Konrad said instead and everyone's eyes widened. They all thought Konrad's enemy was Darya... then...
"My sworn enemy" he chuckled, ignorant to everyone's startled look. "Their nature Goddess played very neatly" Konrad mused, curling his fingers to form a tight fist. One side of his lips tugging upwards as his eyes turned as dark as the total eclipse. "All the time she made sure I was made to stand against Darya and fight, while she secretly molded her most powerful weapon!" Konrad said through gritted teeth.
"Quillon?" Sanity said the name in incredulity and Konrad nodded.
"He is something else. I knew it since the first time I met him" Konrad stated. "Their Goddess had been trying to fool me for years but now, I know the truth. I know everything" Konrad growled loudly.
Speechless, everyone just stared at him.
After few seconds of silence, Konrad smiled calmly, "And the credit to this goes to Darya and Quillon. They messed things up and it worked in my favor."
"Agreed" Wesley said as he blew another puff of smoke out! "But since you are back and powerful than before, I know you can wipe Quillon, who is very strong, like a dust."
"Yes. Q is very strong. Be careful around him, heâ"
Maxwell inhaled sharply the moment his back hit the wall. As he struggled to breathe, he watched Konrad who was snarling murderously in front of his face. Scared, Wesley stood up while Sanity just rolled her eyes.
"What did you just say?" Konrad demanded, displaying his sharp fangs.
"I... I am sorry. I didn't thinkâ"
"Don't think. Don't talk. Just listen and do as I say" Konrad spelled out harshly and Maxwell nodded. Pleased, Konrad released him and then walked away.
"You should be careful around him" Konrad growled as Maxwell rubbed the tender skin of his throat. "He has started doubting you and soon, your cover will be blown."
Shaken, Maxwell stared at him in disbelief. "How?"
"Your daughter" Sanity spat and Maxwell growled. "She has told them."
"Traitor" Wesley remarked.
Maxwell agreed even though he couldn't believe Leah, his own flesh and blood, would help his enemies. Good thing she left the pack. If she was still here, then Maxwell swore he would have killed her without caring that she was his only child.
"Now that everything is cleared.... Leave" Konrad said walking towards the edge and holding the railing.
Without uttering another word, Maxwell and Wesley scrambled out of the building.
__
"If Quillon is your enemy, what is Darya?" Sanity asked, once she was alone with Konrad.
Konrad drummed his fingers on the railing, smirked and then replied, "His Achilles' heel!" Grinning, he turned to face Sanity, "They are mates... soul mates! Two peas in same pod or whatever you want to call it" Konrad shrugged. "Stronger when together and weaker when away."
"So you are going to separate them?"
"No. That would be no fun" Konrad said compressing his lips and shaking his head. "Besides, I don't want to be a bad guy and separate the lovers" he said faking sadness. "I will be a good guy like them"
"Like them?"
"I will be a shrewd wolf and turn them against each other!" Konrad declared sincerely.
"How are you going to do that?"
"With planning and patience" Konrad replied.
"How can I help you?" Sanity questioned.
"No. Not you. This time, I need my strongest combatant beside me" Konrad said staring at the view of the city, visible from the top of the building.
Sanity frowned and growled, offended that she wasn't whom Konrad considered his strongest combatant. However, she was also confused because she didn't know who he was talking about.
"Whom are you referring to?" she dared to ask Konrad.
"My friend. My strongest warrior. Ekon" Konrad pronounced the name with unhidden pride. "It's time for him to stop playing house with his mate and join me in the fight!"
__
Climbing out of his car, Wesley whistled happily and opened the door of the warehouse, which was also his house. Extending a hand, he switched on the light buttons. As the place illuminated with lights, he removed his jacket and threw it away.
Wesley froze, when he saw a familiar figure sitting on his couch, the very moment his jacket landed on a couch.
"I was fourteen when I first smoked. Somehow my mom came to know about it and she didn't utter a word, just showed me with her eyes how hurt and disappointed she was with me. That very day I swore never to smoke again." Clad in navy blue pullovers and jeans, Quillon Sanders toyed with a cigarette packet, while sitting leisurely on Wesley's living room couch.
The blood drained from Wesley's face when he saw him. His first instinct was to run and so he turned. Before he could even take a step, the door was magically shut close. Wesley jumped back a step when he saw the lock being turned.
He had heard Quillon Sanders was gifted but only now realized how great those gifts were.
"But even today, I can perfectly tell what brand of cigarette a person is using" Quillon continued and gulping, Wesley turned to face him.
There was no escaping now. His truth was out. His cover was blown. He had suspected something like this would happen the very moment he met Quillon.
"You have so much hate inside you that even if you try, you won't be able to hide it" Quillon sighed placing the cigarette packet that Wesley often uses on the coffee table. "Sofia... that was her name wasn't it?" Wesley's eyes hardened the moment Quillon uttered his mate's name. "Killed two years ago byâ"
"Your mate" Wesley spat and Quillon raised his lashes to look at him.
"I know" Quillon said looking him in the eye. "I also know she didn't make the first move" Quillon defended Darya and Wesley clenched his fist.
"She killed my Sofia and for that she has to die" Wesley said to gritted teeth and Quillon merely cocked an eyebrow.
With shaking hands, Wesley pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. After letting a trail of smoke out, he walked ahead and sat opposite Quillon in the couch.
He knew his fate was sealed but he would be damned if he let Quillon Sanders have a last word.
"She is going to die you know" Wesley said with calmly and Quillon didn't even growl, which annoyed Wesley. Aren't mates possessive and protective about each other? "He is going to kill her."
This earned a growl and Wesley smirked in satisfaction.
Only Konrad has the power to finish these two shrewd wolves and finish them... he will!
"I know I won't be there to see it but I hope he tortures her the way she deserves" Wesley grinned and winced in pain when his nose started bleeding. The cigarette slipped from his fingers as he breathed heavily.
Wiping the blood with his hands, he looked at Quillon, who sat without any expression. What was that fucker doing?
Wesley groaned and clutched his stomach when he felt another pain there. He felt like someone was squeezing hard his internal organs.
"He is alive" Wesley breathed out, glaring at Quillon.
"I know" Quillon said and then grinned, "I can't wait to meet him again."
Wesley gritted his teeth in annoyance. The confidence in Quillon's tone only fueled his anger. As a human, he knew he was no match to Quillon, one of the most powerful wolves, but he would still fight.
"You will... soon" Wesley said panting and Quillon actually had the nerve to flash a contended smile. "He has already killed her best friend" Wesley dared, referring to Nancy.
"Did you help him in killing Nancy?" a familiar female voice asked from behind and Wesley turned his head to look at his sworn enemy, standing near the door with clenched fists.
Darya's grey irises were swimming as tears flooded her eyes.
"Answer me" Darya demanded and Wesley's lips curved to form a smile.
Finally! She knew the truth.
He was tired of pretending to be an autistic. Tired of tolerating her day after day. Tired of hearing her concern oozed pathetic voice.
Tired of this bitch! This vicious bitch, who had killed his Sofia without batting an eyelid. She was cold blooded and worse than Konrad and Quillon put together.
"She was getting in my way" Wesley replied and watched in satisfaction as a drop of tear rolled down Darya's cheeks. Konrad might have killed Nancy, but he did it only to keep Wesley's secret a secret.
"Why? She was never rude to you" Darya said painfully.
Wesley chuckled and then winced as more blood oozed from his nose. Whatever Quillon Sanders was doing to him, was hurting like a bitch.
"She was your friend" Wesley flung at her and Darya winced. "Any friend of yours is my enemy" Wesley said, grinding his teeth together. He fell on the floor as he felt a strong fist connect to his stomach.
Quillon was still sitting in his seat and hurting Wesley without moving a finger.
"I am sorry that I had to kill Sofia" Darya whispered, her eyes oozing sincerity as she apologized from the bottom of her heart. "If Iâ"
"NO. YOU ARE NOT" Wesley shouted, losing his head. "You killed her you bitch, without any hesitation" he spat furiously.
In silence, Darya just stared at in disbelief for a few seconds before finally closing her eyes and shaking her head. She gulped and exhaled before opening her eyes.
"You know what? You are right" Darya said wiping her tears and Wesley glared at her. "I am not sorry. She attacked Lorcan. A child... my family. And I am not sorry that I had to kill her to protect him."
"You bloodyâ" Wesley moved forward to attack her, but fell on his knees and painfully clutched his stomach, as he got punched again.
He tapped the floor and coughed blood repeatedly.
Quillon was harming his internal organs and Wesley knew he couldn't save himself from this. There was no way he was going to survive this night. However, he didn't let that thought defeat him. He was strong and he would show these two disgusting creatures what exactly was coming for them.
"I know I am going to die tonight" Wesley began, lying on the floor.
"Good" Quillon said standing up and going towards his mate. "The graveyard is closer than hospital from here, and I have already booked a spot for you."
Wesley spat out some more blood and glared at him.
"You aren't going to live longer either" he said, his eyes fixed on Darya. "Konrad is going to kill both of you and that will be my justice" he added and watched as Darya's eyes turned blood red. "He will kill everyone you consider your family"
"I will finish him before that" Darya swore and Wesley chuckled, which only caused more blood to spill from his mouth.
"You cannot" Wesley taunted. He took a deep breath and then spoke again. "Ever wondered how he was in two places at the same time?" Wesley asked and marveled at the look of confusion in both their faces. "Ever wondered how he killed Nancy and frightened you in the college at the same time?"
Wesley's lips curved upwards as the color drained from Darya's face. Her eyes widened and were back to their stormy grey color.
"One Konrad scared you. What would you do when you face two of him?" Wesley asked gleefully as Darya and Quillon stared at him in stunned silence.
"That's right. You spilled his blood to the ground and in that emerged another one, stronger than the one before."
"Two?" Darya's voice was barely audible.
"Cloning. His gift" Wesley spelled out cruelly. "You fed him blood and helped him in creating his clone" Wesley said breathlessly.
He was satisfied to see the speechless expression in their faces. They were knocked for six and he knew he had his last word.
Closing his eyes, Wesley smiled happily.
"What have I done?"
Darya's words were the last words audible to him before he surrendered to death.
