"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."

-H.P. Lovecraft, Supernatural Horror in Literature.

AT KONRAD'S WAREHOUSE...

At one of his warehouses, Konrad growled repeatedly in rage. Pacing back and forth, he clenched and unclenched his fists, unable to digest what had happened today.

He had it all planned.

Darya would trouble Quillon enough for him to sacrifice his life. He was certain it would work after he had hypnotized the other Alphas'. Everything was almost going fine until somehow Quillon decided his mate wasn't worth saving!

Mates are supposed to love each other or so, Konrad had thought. However, looking at what happened today he wasn't certain about it.

Compressing his mouth into a thin, hard line, he violently upturned a nearest couch.

He knew Quillon was bluffing. He wouldn't actually kill his mate. But if push comes to shove, Quillon might have gone through it and Konrad did not want that. Darya is strong as long as she has Quillon beside her. If he goes out of the picture, then she is nothing but putty in his hands.

Even though his primary enemy was Darya, Konrad couldn't get to her without taking Quillon out of the way!

That's why he had hypnotized those wolves but the bastard had some ridiculous kind of power that saved all their lives. Konrad wanted an internecine today and he got nothing. That felt like a slap to him and unable to take it, he spread apart his hands and snarled in rage.

He couldn't get to those wolves, to Darya as long as Quillon is protecting them. He has to get rid of that bastard first. Konrad was prepared to do anything but only problem, he couldn't kill Quillon, the very same way Quillon cannot kill him.

If Konrad kills Quillon, then all his plans will go kaput. No wolf will willfully surrender to him and his dream of creating his own kind to rule the world will be just a dream!

Curling his fingers to form a fist, he slammed his hand against the wall, which cracked from the force.

Quillon fucking Sanders. His plan to make Quillon sacrifice his life was almost close to success until...

Quinton Sanders!

Konrad's mouth curled upwards nastily when he thought about that wolf. He had always thought the younger one was a useless wimp but that little piece of shit had come to help Quillon today. It is because of his help, Quillon was able to stop Darya.

He wanted to kill that mutt as well!

Turning his head, he looked at Sanity, who was sitting quietly on the stairs and watching him, waiting for him to say something.

In a flash, Konrad moved and stood right in front of her.

With his hand he motioned for Vincent to come forward and Vincent, who was standing in one corner of the room, marched ahead like a robot.

"Tell me, what happens next" Konrad asked, him without taking his eyes off Sanity.

"Death" Vincent replied loudly and Konrad smirked.

"How many?"

"Too many"

"What about Quillon Sanders?" Konrad asked and Vincent closed his eyes to look at Quillon Sanders future.

All he saw was Quillon wounded and swathed in blood, with a defeated expression in his face.

"Surrender or Sacrifice?" Konrad probed shamelessly.

Vincent saw it. A pyre right in front of Quillon who was watching it with anguished eyes as he bowed his head! Vincent saw Darya screaming. Vincent saw a little boy crying. He saw a blinding light. He saw a woman dropping on her knees and sobbing as the mark in her neck disappears. He saw Quillon making a life changing decision.

"Sacrifice" Vincent answered numbly to the question his master asked him.

Konrad smirked in satisfaction when he heard that.

Pleased to hear it as well, Sanity stood on the stairs to be in the same level as him and looked at him expectantly. In her eyes, Konrad saw unquestionable loyalty which made him proud.

"Bring me the brother's head" Konrad commanded to her and one side of Sanity's lips curled upwards. She could easily take down Quinton Sanders.

Ekon, who was standing quietly near the door, paled when he heard that. "Quinton?" he whispered quietly.

"Quillon loves his brother very much. I want to see him break down after the death of his little brother" Konrad hissed. "He took everything from me and now, I will take everything from him" Konrad swore maliciously.

The monster inside him trembled violently.

Injustice has been happening to him from years and now, he wanted justice, Konrad decided furiously. The Alphas' had killed his family and now, he will they will understand what it is like to lose family.

A growl emanated from his throat and Konrad slammed his fist on the rails of the stairs to compose himself. However, he couldn't and so he turned and dropped on his knees.

"Kill everyone from his family. His pack" Konrad snarled furiously and his nails elongated and turned black. He twisted his neck to suppress the beast but found it hard because his wolf wanted out and show these people the true meaning of wrath!

"Maxwell is already out to do that" Sanity replied while watching him control his shift.

She had seen Konrad's wolf. A wolf that was taller, muscular and powerful than any wolf she had seen before. The only problem, the wolf didn't recognize anybody. It just wanted its insatiable blood lust sated.

"What about the boy?" Sanity then asked through gritted teeth. The little boy, who had been crying nonstop and screaming for his parent's, had stopped after she had knocked him out! Sanity hated children, especially the screaming ones!

Konrad's shirt started tearing as his bones cracked and dark, foggy grey fur covered his muscles. His eyes rounded and turned dark as he uttered the next words, looking at Ekon... "Kill her family too."

Ekon closed his eyes in pain and bowing his head in shame, he nodded just before Konrad shifted into his monstrous wolf.

The nine feet tall werewolf stood menacingly and growled rampantly, which caused the bulb in the room to burst. Baring his fangs he snapped his jaws and then ran out breaking through the door.

Ekon gulped when he saw that.

Konrad left loose like that wasn't a good thing because he could kill anybody at the moment. Anybody!

As his heart thudded in fear, he looked away and pressed a fist to his mouth. He didn't know what to do, how to warn Darya. While pondering over that, he decided that he had to warn them somehow that Konrad was out there ready to attack anyone he sees.

While Ekon attempted to sneakily pull out his phone and call Darya, Konrad's clone appeared out of nowhere. His clone who had been invisible so far, appeared from his hiding place. Harshly pulling the phone from Ekon's hands, the clone dropped it to the ground and grinned cruelly after hearing the cracking noise, which made Ekon gulp.

The clone was dangerous too because it is Konrad. The clone was completely in sync with Konrad and often thinks the same thing that Konrad wants to do! It's scary as fuck for others but the demonic creatures enjoy it!

The clone shook his head in warning and pale as milk, Ekon nodded.

Narrowing his eyes in a suspicious way, the clone glared at Ekon before turning to leave... Ekon had no idea where! However, he was glad the clone was out of his sight!

Vincent followed after that creature and Ekon closed his eyes in disbelief! He didn't know what was going to happen next but he did know it is going to change lives of everyone involved.

Including his... his life with Meryl.

She had forgiven him, given him a second chance, but Ekon knew he wasn't worthy of that because despite everything, he returned to the world he desperately wanted to stay away from!

Shaking his head, Ekon wiped that thought from his head and then saw the teenage girl in the room, walking around.

Sanity was keeping her sharpest knives hidden in her jeans pocket. "Do you know where Quinton will be?" he asked her.

Sanity stopped, looked at Ekon through her shoulders and replied, "No. But I will make him come to me"

"Where is the Alpha heir?" Ekon asked desperate to know where they have hidden Lorcan.

Sanity shrugged as a reply, put on her coat and then walked out of the warehouse. Ekon frowned at her retreating back and then scratched his forehead.

The little boy wasn't in this warehouse because if he had been, then Ekon could have sensed him and almost convinced Konrad to spare the little boys life! Now, Ekon got a bad feeling that the Alpha heir was with Konrad.

Ekon knew he had done pretty bad things, but he still prayed for the safety of the Alpha heir.

Meanwhile in Elegance Pack....

The sky was a shade of dark blue and millions of stars shone brightly. Sitting on the rocks, Quillon, Darya and the Alphas' watched the house the walls of the farm house in Elegance crumble.

They couldn't help but recall what had happened today. It was just day one and things had been so bad. They didn't know what Konrad would do tomorrow!

Seline Rhoades, sat on the ground beside Duncan. The Alpha couple looked terrible because their little boy was still missing. No one knew where Konrad had taken Lorcan Rhoades.

Feeling the same misery was another couple, whose gifted son was also missing. Some wolves were standing guard, while the others sat in complete silence with pain filled look in their eyes.

As the last wall crumbled, the wolves closed their eyes and flinched as they heard the loud noise. Gulping, they couldn't help but recall all the time they had spent here in the last seven years as a single family.

"Once again, my pack is destroyed" Cortez Moreland murmured in pain and Darya gulped. Malory placed her hand on his arm and rested her chin against his shoulder to calm him.

She had burnt that house, albeit she wasn't herself. But she had still burnt their family house. Guilt overwhelmed her as tears rolled down her cheeks. She was a horrible person!

She knew Konrad would make her do awful things, yet she had surrendered to him. Even though Quillon claimed she didn't do anything, Darya was sure she had come close to killing him too! Her wolf whimpered and she clenched her fists.

A hand enclosed on the fist and raising her lashes, she looked at Quillon, who was giving her a tender look. He shook his head and Darya's lower lips trembled.

"Did you find anything?" Tyson's voice made Darya turn her head and look at him. Everyone was looking at Kasey, waiting for her reply.

Kasey opened her eyes to reveal irises which were glowing gold. "Yes" she replied with a smirk and soon, all the wolves stood up and growled aggressively.

"Where?" Seline Rhoades asked pleadingly.

"It's in the outskirts of Grier and Emperor... that's where Konrad's warehouse is. However, I am not sure if Lorcan is there too"

Seline Rhoades didn't pay attention to the last part. She just knew Konrad had her son and she wanted her baby back. She looked at her mate with tear stained eyes and growling, Duncan looked at his pack wolves, "Find him" he commanded and already his pack wolves got into action.

"Sel... I am not sure. I just saw Konrad and Sanity there, not baby bear" Kasey said sadly.

"My son is with Konrad and if Konrad is in the warehouse, then Lorcan is there too. We must go" Seline Rhoades said and quickly turned to leave. Duncan joined her soon and before anyone could protest, they climbed into their car and left the place.

Quillon watched them and closed his eyes.

He very much doubted Lorcan would be there. Konrad was smart and if he had still kept the little boy with him, then it was for sure that he intended to use the little boy as some sort of bargaining chip or even worse to completely destroy the Luna and Duncan.

Gritting his teeth, Quillon shook his head. That is not going to happen. He is not going to let it happen.

He had wanted to kill Konrad today. The only reason he let Kornad go was because he wanted to see what the effect of the spilled drop of blood is going to be. However, Quillon figured out that there is no effect.

Another Konrad did not emerge from that little pool, which only told him that Konrad's gift of cloning could be used only once or it took only Darya to bring him back to life. He had asked Darya the same and she told him that Konrad had wanted her to kill him.

No more clones of Konrad! Quillon was satisfied with that news... however, he still didn't know how exactly they could kill him. He had to think of something fast because the next time the monster is coming... he is going to be just that— a monster!

"Tyson and few fighters of my pack have gone along" Quillon heard Tyler Grier saying and he nodded.

"I want to go with them" Darya told him and Quillon shook his head.

"No" he retorted sharply and she frowned at him. "Konrad isn't there" Quillon added before she could protest. Kasey, who saw Konrad in her own eyes for the first time, was able to see his past. However, all she saw was where did Konrad came from... not how!

"What?" Many people said at the same time.

"Konrad isn't in that warehouse. He isn't going to sit quietly this time... this time, he is going to go on a killing spree"

Wolves gasped, growled, whimpered and cried softly after hearing that.

"What do we do?" Raven asked in a shaky voice.

"Go home to your family" Quillon announced and everyone stared at him in disbelief.

"Together we can fight him" Darya argued, but Quillon shook his head.

"No. If we stay here together, then our family, the pack, will be in danger. Konrad isn't going to come after us now... he is going to come after everything we care about" Quillon said and wolves stiffened after hearing it.

"How do you know that?" Cortez asked harshly.

"I don't... but I can tell it is so because he has Vincent with him" Quillon replied flatly.

Vincent's father inhaled sharply and his mother let out a sob.

"Vincent might have already told him what he has seen in the future and Konrad is obviously going to twist things to work in his favor" Quinn said and that made every wolf stop arguing and thinking about it.

They all knew Konrad was dangerous and would kill anyone for fun!

"What do you want us to do?" Granel asked Quillon. The whole place got silent and everyone looked at Quillon, waiting for his command. Waiting for their Alphas' command!

Ever since he showed his true powers, every wolf in the place respected him and saw him as their hope! They were all scared of the unknown but they had faith in Quillon and knew, he wouldn't let them down.

"I want you to go back to your own pack and protect your pack wolves" Quillon announced.

"But what about this place?" his mom asked shakily.

"Elegance is destroyed" Quillon said looking at Cortez in the eye. This is the last place Konrad is going to come, Quillon knew that much! "He isn't going to come here."

"He is going to start with Emperor" Darya finished with a whisper and Quillon nodded.

"The closest one" someone murmured.

"I have to go" Darya said this time in a tone that left no room for arguments.

"I am coming with you" Quillon told her. Konrad might not be in that warehouse, but he will still be in Emperor territory and Quillon wanted to kill him right there before he does more damage!

"So am I" Tyler growled but Quillon raised his hand, signaling him to stop.

"No. Gather all your fighters, trackers... be alert but be in your pack because only you can protect your pack wolves" Quillon said and they nodded in understanding.

"Go" Quillon commanded.

He then turned to face his parents and Quinton. "Go home" he told them.

Scott watched his son with wary eyes, "Q, I will ask the fight—"

"No" Quillon incised. "The fighters will be with you."

"But they can—"

"I said no... mom!" Quillon finished and gulping, Grace nodded.

"Go" he said looking them in the eye. His eyes then flickered to Quinn, who was standing quietly. Gone was his charm, now he looked oddly pale.

'I will not stay with them' Quinn said through the link even before Quillon could say anything.

'You will not' Quillon agreed. Kornad can come after Quinn and he didn't want Quinn being with his parents at that time. 'I will ask the guards—'

'I will be fine. Don't worry about me. I am sure you can stop Konrad before he gets anywhere close to me' Quinn said confidently and Quillon nodded.

Those positive words were exactly what he wanted to hear at that moment!

Nodding once, he turned to leave with Darya.

"What's the worst that can happen?" Darya asked him as they walked quietly. All the other pack wolves were watching them and even though they badly wanted to run, they restrained themselves because they had to be calm so that the wolves can be calm too.

"Another Konrad" Quillon said with a grin.

Darya smiled too and then asked, "Best?"

"No more Konrad!"

__

It was early in the morning, when Priscilla and Steve Evigan reached Czar Pack.

Sabine stood beside the stairs and watched her mum consoling her aunt. Vincent, her cousin was missing and no one knew where Konrad had taken him. Vincent was an asset, a soothsayer, hence Konrad had first gotten rid of him.

Sniffing audibly, Sabine prayed for the safety of her cousin. Konrad was dangerous... everyone says that and she just hoped he wouldn't hurt her brother.

"No one knows... even Kasey couldn't help us with anything" Priscilla was weeping and Sabine gulped. "I don't know how my son is. He always wanted to keep his gift a secret but I encouraged him to let it out and look, what happened" Priscilla said slapping her forehead.

"They found about some warehouse he lived in and Duncan and his mate have gone there, along with Quillon and Darya" Steve was telling to her father and other fighters of Czar Pack. "Quillon asked us to return and protect the pack... We don't know what to do. We cannot ask their help because they know nothing either. Konrad is so cunning and he has come fully prepared"

"Quillon is strong... he managed to bring us out of the trance" Sal said to his brother-in-law.

Sabine shivered as she recalled it! She had been in her room when she heard all the screaming. While she had gone out, she had seen her father, her uncle and other fighters marching in a straight line, to god knows where, in their wolf form. Her mom had been lying unconscious on the couch and after Sabine woke her up, she narrated how Konrad had come swiftly and got Sabine's father under his trance. While Robin had gone to prevent it, Konrad had hit her making her lose conscious.

The children had screamed but it's like the parents couldn't even hear them. Nothing they did helped their parents. In the end, they had to all go hiding in some pack prison for protection from Konrad, who had hypnotized their parents.

Thankfully, Alpha Quillon had managed to save everyone right on time. Now, her parents were back together and she was very grateful for it.

She was also pleased to hear that Quinn hadn't been hypnotized by Konrad.

"I am sure he is going to help us. Darya is also back... together those kids can do something" Sal mused confidently. He had faith in both of them because when together, Quillon and Darya were undefeatable!

"I hope so" Steve said sadly.

"Let us do what Quillon asked us to do" Sal said after sometime and sighing, Steve nodded. Standing straight, the former Alpha, commanded his pack wolves and asked them to guard the territories. Fighters were asked to be alert, children were asked to be sent into the underground prison for safety so that they could be kept out of Konrad's view.

"Everyone was asked to return to their pack"

"Even Alpha Quillon has gone to Serene?" Sabine asked curiously.

"No. He went looking for Konrad"

"Then who is in Serene?" she asked furrowing her brows. Who was there with Quinton?

"Scott and Quinton" Sal replied and Sabine gulped.

She had already heard her father saying how Konrad had glared at Quinn and that made her feel edgy. Her wolf started pacing inside her as Goosebumps appeared on her skin.

__

Quinn was alone... that was the only thought running in her head. Konrad is going to hurt him and Sabine whimpered just thinking about it.

She didn't know much about Quinton, but she knew that he would rather be alone then put his pack in danger!

Suddenly, Sabine stood up and shook her head.

No! She couldn't sit here quietly knowing Quinn was alone and in possible danger. Instantly she cringed as she recalled what she had said to Quinn the last time she met him. She had hurt him a lot and she wanted to apologize for that.

He had helped her and now, when he was alone, she wanted to help him. She wanted to just... be there for him!

Biting her nails, Sabine sat back on the couch and contemplated on what to do next. Her parents would be in danger and so would Quinn. Her parents had each other... but Quinn, he had no one and that thought made her wolf whimper.

No, she wouldn't let that happen. She wouldn't let what she said, the previous time they met, be the last words between them either. She wanted to apologize to Quinn and ask him to let her help him.

She wanted to be there for Quinn.

Without wasting further time, Sabine got rid of her night dress and changed into a shorts and a sweater top. While she wore her shoes, she heard her parents talking with Vincent's parents. They were making plans.., they were all together, but Quinton...

She wrote a note, just so that her parents wouldn't worry. Then standing next to the window, she took in a deep breath and jumped through it.

She is going to go to Serene and be next to Quinn. She might not be of much help, but she heard mates comfort each other and she wanted to be there for him... at least for moral support!
