Chapter 306
Trapped in Love
Chapter 306 Continue to Monitor Caroline received a call from the police at 10:00 am. regarding the factory fire incident and headed to the police station.
Upon her arrival, Officer Charlie Boyle kindly offered her a cup of coffee before taking his seat and addressing her, âI apologize for the delay in solving the arson case, Ms. Shenton. However, there are some concerning aspects to the incident.â
Caroline took a sip and urged, âPlease, tell me what youâve found.â
Officer Boyle inquired, âHave you noticed anyone around you displaying unusual behavior, Ms.
Shenton?â
Caroline teplied, âMy employees have already given their statements Have you identified any suspects?â
Officer Boyle handed Caroline two folders, and she noticed Caleb and Naomiâs names inside.
With a puzzled expression, she asked, âWhatâs the issue with Caleb and Naomiâs statements?â
Officer Boyle explained, âThe deputy factory managerâs statement lacks detail, while your secretaryâs account of the incident is excessively precise.â
Caroline momentarily contemplated and questioned, âSo, youâre suggesting that being too specific about time is a problem?â
Officer Boyle nodded. âIndeed, itâs uncommon for anyone to recall their actions during a specific time period with such precision. Your secretaryâs statement appears almost rehearsed. Can you recall when you arrived at the police station, Ms. Shenton?â
Caroline was taken aback. She couldnât even remember when she received the initial call, let alone her arrival time at the station.
Officer Boyle smiled and remarked, âYou see, itâs challenging for anyone to pinpoint exact times, but your secretary seems to have no trouble.â
Caroline said, âPerhaps sheâs just very meticulous about time.â
âShe may be exceptionally attentive to time, Officer Boyle agreed. âYou might want to call and ask her about it.â
Caroline nodded and dialed Naomiâs number.
Before Naomi could answer, Caroline had already formulated her message.
Naomiâs voice came through: âMs. Shenton.â
Caroline put the call on speaker and asked, âNaomi, when were you supervising at construction site a few days ago?â
the Naomi paused briefly before responding. âIt was close to noon. I arrived at 12:23 p.m.â
Caroline exchanged a glance with Officer Boyle and asked, âWere the workers present when you arrived?â
âYes,â Naomi replied. âI left at 5:11 p.m., and they had already left by 5:00 p.m. On the first day of construction, they arrived two hours earlier than usual â
Caroline could hear the sound of machinery in the background. âNoted. Are you at the site now?â
âYes, I arrived at 8.31 a.m., Naomi confirmed. âMs. Shenton, Iâll keep track of their working hours.â
âThank you for your help,â Caroline acknowledged, After ending the call, Officer Boyle expressed his frustration, âSeems like there are time management experts out there.â
Caroline recalled Neilâs warning about adept villains hiding in plain sight. She couldnât afford to take this matter lightly and stated, âIâll leave now if thereâs nothing else.â
Officer Boyle rose from his seat and replied, âAlright, weâll continue our investigation.â
As Caroline left the police station, her phone rang. It was Kenny calling âG! Iâm taking the 1:00 p.m. flight this afternoon.â
Caroline got into her car and replied wearily. It seems youâll be arriving in the early hours of the morning.â
