Chapter 378
Trapped in Love
hapter 378 Infamous âLetâs go!â Axel grabbed Evanâs sleeve and said, âLetâs go!â
Evanâs expression turned serious as he witnessed the scene. âTheyâre acting like I wrongly accused Caroline of causing my motherâs death! Is she so good at pretending that her kids believed she sacrificed everything for my mother? If thatâs true, why did she let my mother ride the Ferris wheel alone?â
Evan turned away, his face tense, and left the villa, In the car.
Axel looked at Evan, his disappointment evident âMommy didnât go on the Ferris wheel because of me Iâm scared of heights! They would have all fallen to their deaths if I werenât there!â
Evanâs eyes narrowed at Axelâs words as he pictured the scene. Still, he couldnât trust Caroline after she exposed his motherâs rape incident.
Two days later, Caroline learned that Axel had been transferred to another school but didnât know which one. Luckily, Axel stayed in touch over the phone.
After two days of rest, Caroline could walk, grateful she only had whip marks and no fractures.
Mary suggested they go outside due to the nice weather.
Caroline accepted and slowly headed to the hospitalâs yard with Maryâs help.
Sitting on a bench, Mary asked, âMs. Shenton, would you like a blanket? Itâs quite windy today.â
Caroline nodded. âSure, thank you. And please bring my cup.â
âOf course.â
As Mary left, Caroline tilted her head to soak in the warm sunlight, finding a sense of calmness.
In a wheelchair pushed by a bodyguard, Casey spotted Caroline and signaled for the bodyguard to stay put. âWait here. Donât follow.â
The bodyguard nodded. âCertainly, sir.â
Casey maneuvered his wheelchair slowly toward Caroline, observing her side profile as he approached.
He had to admit that Evan had good taste in women. Caroline might not be conventionally beautiful, but her delicate features combined perfectly on her face, drawing attention.
Casey smirked and remarked, âWhat a coincidence.
Caroline opened her eyes upon hearing his voice.
Casey saw her amber eyes illuminated by the sun and felt his heart skip a beat.
Caroline seemed guarded after spotting Casey, whose limbs were in casts. âWhat a coincidence that weâre in the same hospital. Iâm here because of his family.â
âWhat a coincidence indeed,â Caroline replied coldly.
Casey smiled. âSeems like you know who I am.â
âYes. Everyone knows youâre Casey Jordan by now.â
âFor my infamous reputation, huh?â Casey said with frustration.
aroline refused to make eye contact with Casey, wondering why he wanted to approach her.â Doesnât he feel any shame for what he did to Jamie?â
âI hope you donât mind me striking up a conversation to pass the time,â Casey said.
Caroline replied, âDo as you please.â
Casey adjusted the direction of his wheelchair. âYouâre quite easygoing. Arenât you worried about someone as terrible as me getting close to you?â
Caroline glanced at Caseyâs casted leg, then closed her eyes. âWhat are you trying to say?â
âIn theory, youâre supposed to despise me right now.
