Chapter 25

22.- Curse?

Blood Moon (girlxgirl)

TW: Blood

Ambrosia POV

Ambrosia hadn't meant to do that. Her mind acted on its own and she didn't even know what she had done. She had found that collar near a tree while walking to this place. She wanted to bring it home and maybe search for the owner that had maybe lost it while going on a walk with their dog. Never would she have thought that this would happen.

Lupita was screaming as their blood mixed and flowed into the red gem at the front of the collar. Ambrosia wanted to try and comfort the girl but she was stuck in place, saying words she didn't understand and just staring as the poor girl screamed and cried.

It stopped suddenly. The collar snapped onto Lupita's neck as the girl fell to the ground and continued to cry. Ambrosia fell backward and looked at the slash in her hand. It was slowly starting to heal, but she realized it left behind a faint scar. When she looked over at Lupita, she saw that the werewolf was still bleeding, and trying her best not to look at it.

"What have you done!?"

Ambrosia looked up at the ugly vampire as she collected her thoughts.

"Have you any idea what you just did?! What the consequences will be?!" The man began to slowly walk over to her and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt.

Not even a second later, he was on the ground with a black, smoky figure above him. The man screamed and soon after a sick ripping sound was heard. As Ambrosia looked closer she saw the man's arm laying at his side. The creature above growled lowly and threateningly. The vampires around them all ran off while the ugly vampire whimpered pathetically under the big monster. The creature eventually got off him and he left in an instant.

Ambrosia breathed out, but her relief was short-lived when the creature turned to her. Piercing red eyes met her own and she got a good look at the monster before her. It seemed to be an all-black wolf, but it looked to be made out of smoke. Its features were barely noticeable, but she could make out the muzzle, and its pure white teeth. Smoke poured from its pure black fur and its paws made little to no indent as the beast slowly walked towards her. Ambrosia quickly looked around and tried to find Lupita but didn't see the girl anywhere.

The beast growled again and Ambrosia fell back down on her butt. The monster pounced at her and landed with its front two paws beside her head. It growled loudly in her face and Ambrosia closed her eyes, ready to meet her end.

But it never came.

As Ambrosia tried to calm down her body from the intense shaking, heavy breathing, and rapid heartbeat, she began hearing another set of breaths. Shaky breaths. Almost as if they had been... crying. She heard heaving breaths along with the shaky ones and felt something wet hit her face. She opened her eyes and saw Lupita in front of her. The girl's eyes were red and her eyes switched from blue to red. Her canines were out as she breathed heavily and stared at Ambrosia with hurt and anger. She lifted her arm and Ambrosia was expecting a blow to the face. A well-deserved one at that. But nothing came this time either. Lupita instead rolled over and began sobbing beside her while facing away.

Ambrosia quickly caught her breath and sat up. When she looked over at the werewolf she noticed her clothes were torn to shreds, but somehow still hanging on. A heat rose to her cheeks but she didn't think about it for long and tried to understand what had happened. She had done something to Lupita, something very bad, if the girl panicking and crying at her side. Ambrosia was starting to worry if the girl could breathe properly. What made the most logical sense to her was that she had performed some sort of ritual on her. Though what that ritual did, she didn't know.

Lupita suddenly started heaving and coughing, bringing Ambrosia out of her thoughts. She quickly ran over to the girl and began checking her over.

"Hey, it's ok. Shh," she tried her best to comfort her. It seemed to help a little as the werewolf calmed down and was finally able to take a few deep breaths. "There you go," she whispered and stroked Lupita's exposed arm as the girl took deep breaths. "Are you ok?"

Lupita was quiet for a few seconds before, suddenly, she jumped on top of Ambrosia and began shouting stuff that she didn't understand, but based on her tone she assumed she was furious.

"I-I don't understand you," Ambrosia stuttered and mentally kicked herself. She saw Lupita take a few deep, angry breaths before she finally began speaking English.

"How could you?" Those simple words broke Ambrosia's heart for an inexplicable reason. "Why?" Lupita was whispering and tears started to stream down her face as her eyes had a light blue hue to them.

"I don't even know what I did," Ambrosia said truthfully. This seemed to surprise Lupita, but she still looked betrayed. Lupita got off her, sat beside her, and began to dry her tears. Ambrosia took note of her palm which had stopped bleeding, but the wound hadn't fully healed. Lupita's blood also made something stir inside her stomach and made her mouth water as she got a hint of the scent. "You're bleeding," Ambrosia whispered, taking the werewolf's hand. She got out a stray napkin she had in her pocket - this would not be sanitary - and began to wipe away the blood.

"We should go to my house," Ambrosia said as she finished. "Bela might know what I did." Lupita gave her a strange look, her eyes and nose red. Ambrosia couldn't deny that she looked quite cute, even though the strange feeling of guilt and sadness still lingered in the pit of her stomach. "She takes care of me. Do you want to do that?" Ambrosia explained and looked at the girl. Lupita carefully nodded and sniffed once before looking down at her clean hand, seemingly deep in thought.

Ambrosia subconsciously pocketed the bloody napkin and held her hand out for Lupita. The girl dismissed it and carefully got up to her feet. It looked like it took a lot of effort and she took a few deep breaths before turning to Ambrosia again. When she had assured that the werewolf was ready she began walking in the direction of her house.

As they walked, Ambrosia tried her best to understand what she had done. If Lupita's crying and panicking were anything to go by, she had done something horrible. But what? What kind of ritual had she done? Had she put a curse on her? And what was with the collar? She didn't understand anything. The vampires had seemed to be so angry with her. But they were also terrified. Especially by that horrifying creature Lupita turned into. That was a whole other mystery. Hopefully, Bela would know what to do.

"Tree," Lupita said from behind her.

Ambrosia turned, not really having heard what she said, causing her to fully collide with a tree in front of her. The collision hurt, especially on the left of her face. When she turned she saw Lupita rub the left side of her face.

"Wait," Ambrosia said and walked over to her rapidly. Lupita stood still, even though Ambrosia assumed she would step back. "You felt that?" she asked. Lupita slowly nodded while showing her thumb and pointer finger showing the small space between them. "How?"

Lupita pointed to the collar around her neck. "Bound," she said and looked at Ambrosia with one of the cutest yet saddest puppy dog eyes Ambrosia had ever seen.

"Bound?" Ambrosia asked and rubbed her face. "Can you explain?" Lupita sadly shook her head, even though her eyes told another story. "Ok," Ambrosia decided to not press her.

They continued to walk, though Ambrosia noticed the werewolf behind her getting slower and breathing heavier. She guessed it was because of the effects of the nearing new moon, but she didn't realize it could get this bad.

"Should we stop and rest?" she asked Lupita. She turned and saw the girl temporarily stop as she did. It looked like she was going to comply and take the well-needed rest, but after a few seconds, she brushed past Ambrosia and continued walking. "You need rest," Ambrosia said as she followed after the girl. Her breathing was labored and her form was hunched.

"No," was all the girl said as she continued to walk while making pained noises from time to time.

"You are exhausted," Ambrosia countered and walked in front of her. "You need rest," she said calmly and put her hands on her shoulders. The same tingly sensation appeared again and made her calm down, it seemed like it helped Lupita too. But the moment was gone when the werewolf carefully removed her hands from her shoulders.

"No, I don't," she said and carefully looked up at Ambrosia. "Can we please just get to your house?"

Ambrosia felt awful when she saw the girl. It looked like she had tears brimming in her eyes as she pleaded.

"Ok. But you need rest once we get there," she said sternly. The girl looked down and nodded her head. "There is no shame in resting," Ambrosia said and started walking again, making sure the girl followed.

It took a few more minutes to get to her house. Lupita took no breaks but her pace slowed down noticeably after their little talk. When they reached the neighborhood Ambrosia carefully began navigating so they were in the forest behind her house. The last thing she needed was for the whole neighborhood to know the newborn vampire had brought in a werewolf. A werewolf wearing barely any clothing at that. She didn't need those rumors swirling around. She was already known as a whore at school, she didn't need to be known as a traitor as well.

"We need to do this carefully," Ambrosia whispered to the werewolf behind her who was crouched down and breathing hard. "I can carry you if you need it," she offered but the girl pouted - an adorable pout - and Ambrosia turned back to where her backyard could be seen. It had a white fence surrounding it and the grass was perfectly cut. One loud noise and the neighbors would be onto them and they would most likely rant her out.

"The glass door is open. We sneak through that," Ambrosia said. She looked one last time to her sides, noticing that all the black houses were still boring and plain, but no one was outside and no one was in the windows. "Now," she said and took the girl's hand and pulled her down the small hill down to the backyard. Once she stepped on the grass she cringed as she knew Gulterio would be mad when he saw their footprints.

They got to the glass door and just as they were about to step foot into the house, Ambrosia heard a dreaded noise.

"Oh, hello dear."

Without thinking she pushed Lupita into the house and tried to stand as normally as possible by placing her elbow on the glass door, only to notice... there was no door there. So she fell. Though she never hit the floor. She looked to her side and saw Lupita holding her by the armpits and looking like she was trying not to laugh. Ambrosia glared at her before pushing herself up.

"Hello," Ambrosia said and tried to find some way to position her hands. She ended up with an incredibly awkward hands-on-hips stance. "H-how are you?"

"I am good dear," the lady said. She was an older vampire. She looked and talked like she was 70 and acted as if she was from multiple centuries back. Ambrosia had heard her say multiple different slurs, most of them she had never heard before. "Who was that you were with?"

"N-no one," Ambrosia said and moved toward the glass door. "I have to get to doing my homework now."

"You should really save yourself for that one person. No one wants you if you're used up."

Ambrosia bit her lip before walking into the house and closing the glass door. She leaned against it and breathed out slowly. That woman had been up her ass ever since she was turned. And she didn't understand why. She had been alive for years and still held her same bigoted, homophobic thoughts. Ambrosia was certain she was from the 1800s. Bela was almost older than that and had been accepting since the start. At least that's what she claims.

"You ok?" Lupita asked carefully and Ambrosia looked at her.

"Yeah," she said with a small smile. "That woman is just an asshole."

"Speak kindly to your neighbor," a voice sounded and Ambrosia rolled her eyes. "Unless it is Mrs. Johnson, then you can be as mean as you want." Ambrosia smiled as the tall woman came up to them. Her black eyes have a mischievous glint to them. "Who have you brought home this time?" she asked as Ambrosia took off her boots, noticing how she was suddenly a little shorter than the werewolf girl without her heels.

"Her name is Lupita," Ambrosia began and looked at the girl, noticing she had no shoes on. "We might need some help figuring something out," she said sheepishly and motioned to the girl.

Bela looked at the girl more thoroughly, noticing the cuts, scars, torn clothes, and finally the collar. At that, her eyes widened and she quickly grabbed a blanket and draped it around the girl.

"Oh, you poor thing," she said and cupped her cheeks. She scanned her again, noticing her hand, and quickly walked over to Ambrosia and saw the same scar on her palm. "Oh, Ambrosia," she sighed and shook her head. "What did you do?"

"I don't know," Ambrosia answered truthfully and took her hand back. "I was in the forest and found the collar. I was going to meet with that vampire clan to talk about my cure, but then it all went south when I saw her in the forest," she pointed at Lupita who had taken a seat in a chair after being offered to sit there by Bela, "and then some magic shit happened. The clan certainly won't talk to me anymore after this. And now there is no way to find a cure for this!"

Bela had sat down on the arm lean next to Lupita who was leaning her head on the woman's arm, staring at Ambrosia while she talked. Her eyes were big and her hands held the blanket around her tightly.

"I'm sorry," she said in a small voice. "I didn't know."

"It's not your fault," Bela said and rubbed her shoulder. She then turned to Ambrosia. "And you should have known that they would not have helped. They would have turned you and you would have been a part of their clan."

"I know," Ambrosia said as she walked toward them. "I just had a little hope. But yeah. It was stupid."

"It's not stupid," Bela said and stood up from the arm lean. "You want to go back to normal. Give it a few more months and you might."

"That is only a myth," Ambrosia said and sat down where Bela had previously sat.

"It's the only shot we have," she said and gave her a sympathetic smile. Ambrosia nodded and suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder. She looked to her side and saw Lupita's fluffy head of hair. "She needs a bath," Bela said and moved closer to them.

"She is barely able to stand at this point, Bela," Ambrosia argued as she felt a lot of the werewolves' weight on her shoulder.

"Then you should help her," Bela said with a wicked smirk.

Ambrosia felt heat rise to her cheeks and her shoulders stiffen at the idea. "I can't," she whispered.

"You can," Bela said and crouched down so she could more easily see Lupita's condition. Her voice dropped as she said the next words. "It's the least you owe her after what you did."

A/N: school has started again so chapters won't be frequent, but I'll try.

I really hope this is good. I'll read through it better one time, (and I will either way edit this book when it's done). I did go back and changed something. (I'm sorry if this gets confusing).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and if you see any spelling mistakes it would be lovely if you pointed them out (kindly please).

Hope you are all taking care of yourselves both mentally and physically. Make sure to eat and drink something.

If no one has said it to you yet: I am incredibly proud of you!!

Hope you have a lovely day/night/evening.
