Chapter 102
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair
Chapter 102 Truly Disgusting
Yvette had consumed too much alcohol, and Eric left her in the private room. The restaurant staff would
ensure she made it home safely. Given her status, even if she ended up staying the night there, it
wouldnât be a big deal.
Eileen leaned against the wheelchair, feeling dizzy and weak. She had only had three drinks, yet she
was already intoxicated. She hadnât planned on drinking, but the fragrant wine with added mulling
spices was too tempting, causing her to indulge in a few more cups. If she hadnât been cautious around
him, she might have ended up as drunk as Yvette.
She opened the car window slightly, hoping to get rid of the lingering scent of alcohol from her body.
However, it wasnât long before she closed it again.
âWhat are you doing? Roll down the window, hurry up⦠open it⦠open itâ¦â Her hands were slapping
against the car window, her voice sounding as if it was coated with cotton candy, playfully reproachful
yet soft.
âStop fooling around and sit properly.â
âYouâre so annoying! You wonât even roll down the car windows. How petty! Fine, donât open them. Next
time, I wonât ride in your car again.â
Eileen curled up, hugging her knees, her face buried in the crook of her arm, and in an instant, she fell
silent.
Ericâs
gaze fell on the person next to him. Is she throwing a tantrum?
When did she become so well-behaved? Where did her previously wild, fierce, and indulgent nature
go?
âItâs cold outside, and you might catch a cold.â The words were a rare display of tender
concern.
Her muffled voice rang out. âI refuse to believe your empty words about caring for others. You only
know how to hurt me. The person I despise the most⦠is you. Besides Jasper, no one else will ever be
kind to meâ¦â
As the words fell, Eileen leaned forward sharply, her eyes dazed and wide. âWhy have we stopped?â
âWhat did you say?â The manâs voice was as cold as ice, a wave of cold air surrounding her. Meeting
those dangerous, hawk-like sharp eyes, Eileen instantly felt her mind go blank. Even the strongest
sense of drunkenness would quickly fade away.
Only then did Eileen realize how dangerous her recent remarks had been. The car was parked by the
roadside, and she was surrounded by danger.
âI⦠Iâm sorry, Iâm drunkâ¦â She didnât know why she was apologizing. Perhaps she was too scared.
Before he could make his next move, Eileen quickly said, âItâs late, you⦠you donât need to take me
home. I can take a taxi by myself.â
She tried to unlock the car door, but no matter how many times she tried, the door remained stubbornly
shut.
âHave you fallen for someone so quickly? When will you change this habit of falling in love with
everyone you meet?â Ericâs words were sharp and direct, not giving her any respect at all.
Eileen gave up on the idea of getting out of the car. Her slightly narrowed eyes shifted. Lowering her
head, she didnât know how to respond to his words.
In his eyes, she was just that kind of person-she would like anyone who treated her well.
However, Jasper was truly different. His kindness toward her had no hidden motives. It was pure
affection.
Eileenâs fondness for him was the kind of fondness found between friends without any romantic
feelings.
Suddenly, a hand reached out. With a strong force, her back felt as if it was pressed against a wall. His
body was burning hot. Eileen was so frightened that she stiffened, not daring to move at all. âWhat are
you doing? Let me go!â Her voice was filled with unmistakable panic.
âAnswer me.â His warm breath cascaded down her neck.
Eileen stated awkwardly, âYouâve misunderstood! My feelings for Jasper are just those of ordinary
friends, not what youâre imagining.â
Resisting the urge to push him away, her hands clenched tightly at her side. After everything that had
happened, Eileenâs inner resistance and
on toward Eric grew stronger with
each passing day.
âReally? I thought you moved on so quickly, no longer liking me.â Ericâs hand slipped around her waist,
pulling her even closer to him.
Eileen gripped his wrist, her voice somewhat icy as she said, âLetâs hurry back! Vera is still waiting for
you at home⦠Iâm also tired and want to rest.â
At that moment, Eric suddenly pinched her cheeks, leaning over to whisper in her ear like a devil,
âYouâre still young. You donât understand what it means to truly like someone. If you want to fall in love,
I wonât stop you. I⦠can even help you find someone better.â
Eileen closed her eyes. Now is not the time to argue with him. She forcefully suppressed the anger
welling up from the bottom of her heart.
âI⦠I understand.â
It seemed that she really couldnât have a drop of alcohol in the future. After three glasses, who knew
what unpleasant words she might utter?
This time, Eileen was completely sober.
Throughout the journey, she remained extremely quiet, not daring to speak again.
It was almost eleven oâclock when she arrived home.
way into the
The hallway was pitch black. Eileen followed behind Eric, slowly making her foyer. She felt for the light
switch on the wall, flipped it on, and instantly, the room was illuminated..
Eileen wanted to quickly go upstairs first, but suddenly, the man behind her spoke up. âGo and prepare
some food.â
Eileen, who was about to step onto the staircase, heard such an impolite request.
âI⦠Iâll go and call Mary.â
âDonât you understand what Iâm saying?â Eric sat on the couch, leaning back, looking somewhat
uncomfortable.
Eileen slowly turned around. Looking at his condition, she knew his stomach illness must have flared
up again. His fear of colds and drinking on an empty stomach during social occasions were his
recurring issues. Tonight, he had eaten so much seafood, crabs⦠It would be strange if he werenât in
pain.
Resigned to her fate, Eileen turned and walked into the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator to see
what ingredients were left. It was already late, and Eileen didnât want to waste any more time there.
She was truly exhausted.
Even though he had the option to go back, he insisted on returning here. Recently, he had been
coming home more frequently. Eileen couldnât understand why he had moved out in the first place.
Eileen wished she could see him every day of the year, but unfortunately, she couldnât.
She washed the pot, boiled some water, and chopped the vegetables. The pasta was leftover
handmade pasta, and she only cooked a single portion.
After pouring the pasta out of the pot, she placed the plate on the table and grabbed a fork, setting it
down. âThe food is ready. Iâm going to rest now.â
Eileen, holding her warm cup of milk, wearily trudged back to her room after a long day.
Before leaving, she had asked Mary to install a new door lock. Now that it was installed, she
immediately locked it from the inside, ensuring that no one from outside could open her room door.
Walking to the walk-in closet, she opened the wardrobe to find her black evening dress hanging there.
Eileen took it out and examined it. The fabric was smooth, and there was a familiar scent of laundry
detergent. She thought about the basket of dirty clothes Mary was holding this morning. Had she
misunderstood something?
However, she distinctly remembered locking the door from the inside. If she didnât rule out the
possibility of Eric entering her room, then perhaps this dress was indeed taken for washing by Mary.
But I canât be blamed for misunderstanding him!
Itâs evident that Eric has no sense of appropriate boundaries between men and women.
He casually sneaked into my room and even told me to change my habit of falling in love with everyone
I meet.
Ah, why doesnât he change these bad habits of his?
How irritating!
