Chapter 106
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair
Chapter 106 I Do Not Like It
Eric should have clearly understood that when he chose to reveal his true self and be honest, it was
inevitable that we would end up in a situation like today.
He does his own thing, and I live my own life. We donât interfere with each other. By the time he fully
takes control of the Swan family, I may have already left Hulbury.
âWhat good will come from arguing with me?â Eric looked at the cup on the ground. It didnât shatter. âI
donât want to repeat myself. Go back to bed!â
Eileen stood motionless at the door. The cold wind blew in from outside, filling the wide folds of her
clothing, making her feel a bit chilly. A wave of pain began to emanate from her lower abdomen once
again.
Just then, the nurseâs voice broke the tense and strange atmosphere between them.
âWhy did you get out of bed? Are you not in pain anymore? I heard you two arguing from the hallway.
As an older brother, canât you be more considerate of your sister? Girls tend to be short-tempered
during their periods. Hurry up and clean the floor. The doctor will be here soon for a check-up. If
everythingâs fine, you can be discharged from the hospital.â
Eileen said softly, âThank you.â
âPlease lie back down. We donât want you to get sick again.â
Eileen brought in a mop from outside and cleaned the floor. She didnât expect him to do such things.
Truth be told, she wasnât in that much pain anymore. It was just the first day that was particularly tough
to endure.
After the doctor examined her again, he called for Eric to come over.
Inside the office, the doctor pointed at Eileenâs CT scan with a grave expression. âSince youâre a family
member of the patient, I wonât sugarcoat this. During yesterdayâs examination, we discovered an
abnormality in the patientâs uterus. If we perform surgery now to restore it to its original state, itâs
unlikely to be successful. We suspect that the patientâs uterus could potentially be diseased, possibly
even cancerous. Fortunately, weâve detected it early, so we can still perform surgery to remove it. If we
wait any longer, the cancer cells might spread and metastasize. At that point, the patientâs treatment
might involve more than just a hysterectomy. Considering her health condition, our recommendation is
to proceed with the surgery as soon as possible. However, you should be aware that this might result in
her being unable to conceive in the future.â
There wasnât much emotion visible on Ericâs face as he said, âI understand.â
âThen discuss with the patient and schedule the surgery.â
Eric didnât give the doctor any reply. He just got up and walked out directly, his face gloomy.
As he stepped into the ward, he heard the joyful voice of a young girl. âThe soup that you make is the
most delicious in the world, Sharon.â
âIâve only been away for a few days, but I can tell you havenât been eating properly. You look thinner
than when I left.â
âNo way. You must be mistaken. Iâve always been like this. Being skinny is the beauty trend now.â
Sharon scolded, âTo me, you look good no matter what. From now on, youâre not allowed to be picky
with your food.â
Leaning on Sharonâs shoulder, Eileen enjoyed the soup fed to her. âIâm not picky. Maryâs cooking is as
delicious as yours. I can eat two bowls every day.â
âYou should eat more. Itâs good for you. All you do is make me worry when Iâm not around.â
Sharon was well aware of her situation at home. It was she who had introduced Mary to the Swan
family. They were from the same hometown, straightforward in character. Whatever happened at home,
Mary would tell her everything without holding back. Eileen didnât eat much to begin with, but now that
Sharon had left, she was eating even less. Sometimes, she wouldnât even have dinner.
Sharon watched her grow up. How could she not worry whenever Eileen fell ill or got hurt?
In this lifetime, she never had a child of her own. In her heart, she had long since treated Eileen as if
she were her own.
âShould I tell Mr. Snow to let me come back and take care of you?â
âNo need to trouble yourself. There are too many rules at home. Itâs not as comfortable as Ericâs home.
Itâs the same with Mary. Most of the time, I eat at the school cafeteria. I rarely eat at home.â
Sharon let out a sigh. âEvery time you come home from school, you have to eat a bowl of the raviolis I
make⦠Iâve already taught Mary how to make them. Even if Iâm not around, youâll still be able to eat
them. You wonât have to go hungry in the middle of the night.â
Eileen nodded. âYour culinary skills are always the best. I will never get tired of the raviolis that you
make. I can eat them for a lifetime.â
âYouâre such a sweet-talker!â
Not long after, Sharon left. Eric handled the hospital discharge procedures.
Sitting in the car, Eileen held a hot pack against her lower abdomen, gazing out the window.
âCould you do me a favor and just drop me off at school? Thank you.â Her tone was indifferent and
distant.
After a while, Eileen realized that this was not the way back to school at all, but the way to Undella
Mansion.
She furrowed her brows. âEven if you take me home, Iâll return to school on my own later. Instead of
wasting your time on me, you might as well save yourself the trouble.â
âYou donât get to decide if you want to cut ties with me.â Eric gave her a cold look. âIf you donât want to
suffer, youâd better behave. I donât have that much patience for you.â
The car turned at the traffic light.
Eileen held the hot pack in her hand, looking down and remaining silent.
âPlease, donât tell Father about my health condition yet. Once I get into Hulbury University, Iâll have the
surgery myself. Iâll tell him when the time comes.â
Eric remained silent. Eileen added extremely humbly, âConsider this as a favor I owe you, all right?â
If Will were to know earlier that she was infertile, she might not even have the chance to attend
university. She would be regarded even more as a useless burden, and her fate would be even more
tragic.
Indeed, if that were the case, Will would tightly restrain her with chains, and her life as she knew it
would come to an end.
âAre you pleading with me?â Eileen nodded. âYes.â
âIf youâre requesting a favor, you should have the appropriate attitude⦠What will I gain if I assist you?â
âYou can decide, as long as itâs something within my capabilities.â
âDoes that include your physical self?â he playfully teased.
Eileen widened her eyes, her face filled with shock, her heart trembling uncontrollably. âEric⦠do you
realize what youâre saying? Iâve just reached adulthood⦠Iâm your sister!â
âThat wasnât what you said when you were trying to win me over before. Are you afraid now?â
Eileen was trembling with anger all over. She clenched her teeth and remained silent.
When they arrived at the entrance of Undella Mansion, Eric parked the car, leaned over, and released
her seatbelt. Eileen moved back slightly but couldnât avoid him.
His deep, captivating voice echoed in her ear. âRemember to remove the lock. I donât like itâ¦â
With a gentle touch, his hand glided over the fullness of her chest.
She felt as if an electric current was coursing through her body.
