Chapter 215
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair
Chapter 215 Cannot Accept Being Betrayed Again
Eileen enjoyed a bowl of chicken and tomato stew while Jasper sat patiently by her side.
As for the matter discussed in the car, no one mentioned it again.
Perhaps we should just leave it at that.
Jasper asked, âDoes it taste good?â
Eileen replied, âItâs okay⦠I⦠Iâll go back to my room to do my homework. Rest early. Goodnight.â
âGoodnight.â
Jasper watched her climb the stairs, holding a lighter in his hand, lost in thought.
Richard sensed the tension between the two and cautiously asked, âDid you have an argument with
Ms. Eileen, Mr. Jasper?â
Jasper crossed his left leg over his right and leaned back. âEileen wanted my help dealing with those
reporters, but I didnât agree. Am I not good enough for her? Our relationship is nothing to be ashamed
of.â
After considering it, Richard said, âMs. Eileen may not be accustomed to receiving so much attention.
She tends to keep to herself and rarely interacts with others. Now⦠the entertainment reporters have
disturbed her, so itâs understandable that sheâs anxious. If Ms. Eileen does marry into the Smith family
one day, sheâll have to get used to it sooner or later. Itâs not necessarily a bad thing for her to adapt to
it.â
Once she graduates, sheâs destined to become Mrs. Smith of Smith Corporation. In the future, she will
encounter even more media reporters. If she canât handle it now, then in the future, she will only learn
to back down.
Richard seemed convinced by his own words and added, âToday, Old Mrs. Smith came to the mansion
looking for Ms. Eileen, saying she wanted to have some butternut squash oatmeal
A faint smile appeared on Jasperâs lips. âI canât bear to let her cook Sheâs meant to enjoy life.â
After finishing her homework, Eileen memorized a few words and went to sleep.
The following morning arrived
Jasper buttoned his suit as he descended the stairs He didnt see anyone familiar at the
dining table. He scanned the coure hall but couldnât find Eileen Wheirâs deen he asked
âMs. Eileen left for school quite early today. She said she wanted to familiarize herself with the
examination venue.â
In the past, Eileen would always take her seat first, waiting for him to join her for a meal. Afterwards, he
would drop her off at school.
Jasper noticed Eileen trying to avoid him, feeling annoyed. It seemed that she was avoiding him
because of what happened yesterday.
He didnât appreciate her acting this
way.
Early in the morning, just as the street vendors were setting up their stalls, Eileen had already arrived
at school. She bought a serving of sticky buns and a cup of soy milk from a vendor across the street
from Cloudburg Public School. She was just about to pay.
âWeâll pay together.â
This voiceâ¦
Eileen turned her head and looked at him.
Why do I always see him at the school gate?
Eric bought a few bagels and pretzels, putting the change into his wallet. âAm I very handsome?â
Eileen quickly turned her head. âWhat are you doing here?â
âAre you confident with Olympiad Math?â Eric ignored her question.
âIt has nothing to do with you.â
Taking advantage of their height difference, Eric leaned down to her ear. His warm breath brushed
against her, his voice deep and magnetic as he spoke. âOnce the exam is over⦠I have a gift for you.â
âI donât want it.â Eileen took a step back, creating distance between them, then turned and ran
away.
What good could he possibly give?
On his way home, Eric drove past a shopping mall. He walked into a lingerie store, where a sales
associate immediately approached him with enthusiasm. âSir, are you selecting lingerie
wife? We have various styles here. You can take a look.â
for
your
âIs there anything else? These are all too conservative, not suitable for her.â
25
The sales associate quickly responded, âCertainly, certainly. Please take a look at these.â
Eric walked over to the section selling lingerie. The underwear there was nearly transparent, and some
panties were nothing more than three simple strings.
He picked up a thin, transparent piece of fabric, glanced at it, and said, âIâll take all of it in this
size.â
âOkay, okay⦠Sir, please wait a moment. Iâll go prepare it for you right away.â
All morning, Eileen felt uneasy, not knowing why, but she couldnât shake the feeling of impending
doom.
In the afternoon, Jacob distributed the examination admission numbers to everyone and took the
opportunity to familiarize the students with the examination venue, as this test was of utmost
importance.
Eileen was seated at the very end, and Jason, who was in front of her, would occasionally come over to
chat with her.
Just then, Eileenâs phone vibrated. She received a photo sent from an unknown sender.
Upon opening it, Eileen felt a chill run through her entire body, her hand trembling uncontrollably.
It was an unknown phone number. The person in the photo was sleeping on a Blake hotel bed, bare-
chested, with a hand resting on his forehead. The time and date recorded on it. were not too far in the
past. It was from just after the New Year last. year.
Suddenly, Jasperâs words echoed in her mind.
âArenât you going to ask what Iâm going to do?â
âIâll be back soon⦠in about three days.â
âEileen, what are you so engrossed in?â
Jasonâs voice interrupted her thoughts.
Eileenâs phone slipped from her grasp, clattering onto the ground. She was in a state of panic, a
suffocating sensation gripping her chest.
She was terrified of it being seen by others. Luckily, the phoneâs battery had been knocked out,
plunging the screen into darkness.
Many eyes turned to look. It was rare to see Eileen in such a state of panic and contusion
Upon catching Benjaminâs gaze, Jason quickly clarified, âI didnât scare her.â
Benjamin asked. âIs her phone broken?â
Eileen quickly regained her composure. âItâs not broken. Itâs okay.â
In reality, the phone screen was shattered with a crack, and there were signs of fractures on the edges.
Eileen took a long time to process this matter.
Who is the other person exactly?
Why would someone send me a picture like this?
After inspecting the examination room, the exam would take place the day after tomorrow.
She didnât want this matter to have an impact on her.
However, Eileen couldnât stop her mind from wandering.
Because⦠she didnât believe that Jasper would betray their feelings for each other.
She completely turned off her phone.
She didnât have the courage to open it again.
Vera walked over, noticing that something was clearly wrong with Eileenâs behavior. She seemed quite
agitated. âEileen, are you feeling unwell?â she asked.
âIâm fine.â
âBut⦠during these past few lessons, when the teacher called on you, you were always daydreaming
and didnât respond.â
There were too many eyes on her. Eileenâs emotions seemed to be on the edge. She stood up, flicked
her long hair, and said, âIâm really okay. Can⦠Can you ask the teacher for permission for me to leave?
I need to step out for a bit.â
Eileen grabbed her backpack, didnât take any books, and left.
Natalie, who was approaching, called out to her, âEileen!â
Continuing to walk and ignoring the sounds behind her, Eileen began to run. She was truly in a state of
chaos right now.
Perhaps they wouldnât understand why a simple photograph could evoke such strong
emotions in her.
All her past sorrows, the evidence of Ericâs unfaithfulness, all started from photos like these.
She thought she had escaped from Eric, but she never imagined that the same thing would happen to
her again.
While she found it ironic, she also felt a deep sadness for herself.
Theyâve deceived me! Theyâve all deceived me!
Eric did. Jasper too, why? I thought he wouldnât.
Eileen had been running for quite some time. She finally stopped in the school garden, panting heavily
as she sat down on a long wooden bench.
She didnât know what method to use to calm herself down.
Regardless of whether it was Sarahâs provocation or Ericâs unfaithfulness, it was causing too much
trauma for her.
She simply couldnât accept being betrayed for the second time, even if they were not in a marital
relationship.
