Chapter 222
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair
Chapter 222 Why Am I The One To Bear These?
Eileen ended the call and soon spotted a group of familiar faces approaching. Among them. she
recognized a few as Lionelâs subordinates.
Without hesitation, Eileen quickly closed the shutter door and remembered there was a back door she
could use.
As Fileen made her way towards the back door, she dialed the private driver of the Smith family,
Gordon. However, her phone automatically shut down due to a dead battery just as the call was
connecting.
Why is Eric in the fishing village?
Is he coming after me? Is he planning to silence me by killing me?
Eileen cautiously stepped outside through the back door. Two icy daggers were immediately pointed at
her. Under the cold moonlight, she could see Lionelâs eyes and his menacing scar. She felt a chilling
terror. âMs. Eileen,â he said, âMr. Snow is concerned about your safety being alone outside, so he
specifically sent us to protect you. Please come with us.â
Wouldnât going with them be even more dangerous?
Eileen quickly shut the door, but Lionel wedged his foot in the gap. In no time, he kicked the door open,
looking fierce and intimidating. âMs. Eileen, if you choose to resist, donât blame us!â he threatened,
causing her to retreat in fear.
âWhat are you planning to do? Donât make me tell my father!â
Lionel laughed wildly. âIâm afraid he wonât have the chance to hear those words.â
Eileen was forcefully taken to a dilapidated floor. Isnât this the room that Sharon used to rent? She used
to live here.
Lionel pushed the door open. âPlease, Ms. Eileen.â
The dim light inside the house made it difficult to see what was happening. However, she could sense a
terrifying aura emanating from within, as if something even more fearsome than a beast lurked inside.
Eileen turned to flee, but Lionel seemed to have anticipated her move. He roughly grabbed the back of
her collar and pushed her inside, forcefully shutting the door behind her.
Eileen fell to the ground. Suddenly, a pair of black leather shoes entered her line of sight. The man
slightly bent over and extended a hand towards her. Eileen, supporting herself on the ground, kept
backing away. âDonât come any closer.â

Eric casually withdrew his hand and looked at her. âAm I that frightening?â
Eileen, leaning on the bed beside her, stood up, maintaining a certain distance from him. Her gaze
shifted to the bed, where she saw a set of revealing, almost transparent womenâs lingerie. Her heart
immediately tightened. âEric⦠What are you trying to do?â
Eric moved closer. âDonât you already know what I want, Eileen?â
Surrounded by his people outside, Eileen suddenly felt helpless. She knew that there was no way she
could escape tonight, no matter what.
âWhy canât you just be straightforward about whatâs going on? What are you trying to achieve. with all
these games? You used Elmâs disappearance to lure me to this fishing village. I know itâs all your doing.
So what exactly are you trying to accomplish with all this effort? Do you want to kill me?â
The manâs deep voice emitted a pleasant chuckle. He pulled Eileen towards him with one hand, holding
her in his embrace and gripping her slender waist. With a tilt of his hand, his fingers brushed over her
delicate cheek. âHavenât you seen it all? How could I bear to kill now? You still have to prepare for
college entrance exams, donât you?â

Eileen turned her face away, her gaze falling on the old television set placed on the cabinet. In the
black reflective screen, a man and a woman were intimately pressed together. The man was looking at
her with a predatory gaze as if he wanted to devour her slowly.
Eric had never looked at her with such an expression except when he was captivated by her body in
bed. As he gradually moved closer, his gaze seemed to carry a certain possessive madness.
âI advise you not to play games. Iâve already called Jasper, so heâll be here soon.â
âEileen, Nancy has returned. Do you think he still has feelings for you?â
âAnd what about you? Are you still interested in Vera, Ericâ¦â She spoke softly as her hand. rested on
his chest. The intimate distance allowed her to catch a faint whiff of tobacco from him. Didnât he dislike
smoking?
This sentence left Eric silent.
âWhen I used to like you, you never paid attention to me, no matter what I did. Now that I like someone
else, youâre always around. Ericâ¦â Eileen suppressed her inner turmoil, meeting
gaze. âHave you fallen for me?â
his
Ericâs expression became dim and obscure. He leaned in close to her neck, gently placing warm kisses
there. âWhatever you think, thatâs what it is!â His voice grew husky with emotion.
âBut.. even if Nancy returns and Jasper leaves, there will never be a possibility for us⦠if you

only see me as a toy. Eric, I would rather die. All the efforts Iâve made are just to break free from youâ¦â
Eileenâs voice was soft, yet every word she spoke weighed heavily on Ericâs heart.
The manâs movements halted. The next moment, she felt a sharp pain on her scalp as Ericâs fingers
threaded through her long hair. Their noses brushed against each other. âSo what? Do you still need
me to tell you the answer? Eileen⦠you are destined to never escape this in your lifetime.â
He forcefully pushed her onto the bed. Eileen felt dizzy as Eric quickly moved on top of her. He held her
face, kissing her with an intense aggression. In an instant, Eileenâs clothes had somehow disappeared.
âLet go! Mmph⦠Let me goâ¦â
With all her strength, Eileen kicked him, seizing this opportunity to turn over. She grabbed the quilt to
cover her body, her eyelashes glistening with tears.
Several pieces of the provocative lingerie that were originally on the bed had fallen onto the floor.
Tears shimmered in Eileenâs eyes. She despised herself for being in this situation. Despite my earnest
efforts to change, why⦠why couldnât I break free?
In the evening, a strong sea breeze swept through Peach Fishing Village. The season hadnât yet
passed, and the cold wind blew, causing her slender, fair-skinned back to shiver in the freezing cold.
Eric watched as she cried and sobbed, feeling inexplicably irritated. âDo you think crying will solve
anything?â
Eileenâs face was buried in the quilt. Her mind was blank as she shivered uncontrollably.
The hand clutching the quilt bore a noticeable scar on her small arm. Eric remembered when she got
this scar. He never imagined⦠it would leave such a shocking, ugly mark on her.
âBut I canât let Jasper down!â Eileen sobbed, lifting her head. Tears fell incessantly, wetting her face and
sticking to her hair strands. âPlease, I beg you. Can you release me? I know you hold a grudge against
the Swan family, but that time by the sea, I already experienced death once. Why wonât you let me go?
Clearly⦠I didnât do anything, so why⦠why must I bear all this? Eric⦠I really donât dare to love you
anymore. Can you release me, please? Iâm begging you!â
Being with him is truly unbearable.
Iâve even risked my own life for this.
