Chapter 288
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair
Chapter 288 Did Someone Visit My Room Last Night?
After returning home, Jasper sat on the living room couch, smoking throughout the night. The ashtray
was filled with cigarette butts.
As dawn broke around six in the morning, the sky began to brighten. The housekeeper who arrived to
clean up was taken aback when she found the living room filled with thick smoke.
Shouldnât Mr. Jasper, who just got engaged to Ms. Eileen yesterday, be at the hotel with her at this
time?
âWhat time is it now?â Jasper suddenly spoke, startling the servant.
âMr. Jasper, itâs almost six oâclock.â |
Is it already daylight?
Jasper glanced outside with his bloodshot eyes. As he stood up from the couch, his body swayed
unsteadily. Suddenly, without any warning, he closed his eyes and inexplicably fainted.
âMr. Jasper!â The servant exclaimed in shock, quickly calling for the family doctor.
The family doctor arrived half an hour later, and after conducting a thorough examination, he said. âMr.
Jasper is merely suffering from fatigue due to lack of rest. Let him have a good sleep, and heâll be fine
when he wakes up.â
Layla, too, didnât sleep a wink the night before. Upon learning that Jasper had fainted, she could only
sigh deeply.
Martha stepped forward to tuck her in âOld Mrs. Smith, you should really get some sleep now. Itâs
already
dawn.â
Suddenly, Layla asked, âHas the child been found?â
Martha said, âJust now, Mr. Zimmer checked the surveillance feeds. He found that the child was
walking together with a woman. After they left⦠we couldnât find out anything about the childâs
background! Itâs really strange. Mr. Jasper has always been chaste and never fond of stirring up trouble
outside, so how could there be a child who looks exactly like him? If I hadnât seen it with my own eyes, I
would find it hard. to believe.â
âThere was a time when Richie was acting foolishlyâ¦â Layla suddenly thought of something. âWhere is
the photo? Show me the photo of the child leaving
âAlright, Iâll go get it right away. Please donât worry, Old Mrs. Smith.â
After Martha handed her the photos, Laylaâs hands trembled, while excitement began to show on her
face. In several of the photos, the childâs facial features were somewhat blurred due to the darkness of
the night, but at a glance, one could still make them out.
Layla meticulously searched for something. It wasnât clear through one thing after another, unsure of
what she was looking for until she stopped at the last picture.
In the photograph, a woman was seen holding the hand of the child they were looking for. She had
turned her head, revealing her side profile.
Upon seeing her, Laylaâs eyes widened. âItâs her. It really is her.â

Martha asked. âWho is she?â
âWho else could it be but her? When she agreed so easily back then, I knew she was hiding
something.â Laylaâs gaze darkened. âDo everything you can to contact Nancy. If itâs a child of the Smith
family, we must bring him in.â
Martha was surprised. âIt really is Nancy. But if Nancy comes back, what will Ms. Eileen do? Given her
temperament, Iâm afraid she wonât stay with Mr. Jasper. If Ms. Eileen is not around, Mr. Jasper will
definitely be the same as before, and by then, none of us will be able to do anything.â
Layla fell silent, lost in thought. On one side was her grandson, and on the other was the Smith family.
She couldnât bear to let go of either.
After a while, she said, âDonât let Eileen know about this. Sheâs going to Pillere for three months today.
Letâs resolve this matter within this period.â
The timing of this childâs appearance is just perfect!
Someone like Nancy would never be accepted by the Smith family, for Layla would absolutely not allow
at second Ruth to ruin the family.
âYes, Old Mrs. Smith.â
At eight oâclock in the morning, Eileen was roused by the persistent ringing of her phone. She sat up.
rubbing her groggy head. Dressed in a Blake nightgown, she leaned on the bed.
Whatâs going on? Why does my head hurt so much? Did I not sleep well last night?
She then stared at the ruined roses in the room, petals scattered all over the floor.
Why have the beautiful flowers come to this? What happened last night? Why canât I remember
anything at all?
All she remembered was taking the room card from the bellboy. When she returned to her room, she
felt a bit warm. It seemed like she had taken a bath in the bathroom. After that, she seemed to recall
that she had fallen asleep.
She hurriedly threw off the covers and got out of bed. The moment her bare feet touched the floor, her
entire body suddenly gave way, causing her to fall to the ground. At the same time, she felt a fearing
pain in her lower body, and her lower abdomen was slightly bloated.
No longer a virgin, Eileen understood what happened.
Only after being intimate with a man, do I experience this kind of feeling. Could it be that Jasper came
back last night? If we slept with each other, why donât I remember anything?
Just then, the hotel room door swung open from the outside, and a hotel housekeeper walked in, âMiss,
are you alright?â
Eileen replied, âWho let you in? I didnât call for anyone.â
The hotel housekeeper revealed a professional smile, respectfully saying, âMr. Smith requested a
wake-up call, saying you have a flight to catch today. I knocked on the door several times, but there
was no response, so I had to come in. Ms. Swan, you have three hours left before your flight. Itâs time
to get up. She stepped forward to help Eileen. up.
Eileen sat on the bed, looking at her haggard reflection in the glass window. Tentatively, she asked,
âDid

someone come to my room last night?â
The hotel housekeeper replied, âWeâre not sure about that! However, we do have staff on duty at our
hotel who might know. I can ask them for you.â
Eileen held her forehead, her breath short and her whole body in discomfort.
The housekeeper informed Ms. Swan, âYou had a drink last night, so itâs natural for you to have a
headache this morning. We have prepared a remedy for hangover, and we will bring it to you shortly,â
Eileen replied, âBut⦠I mostly had fruit wine last night, which wasnât very strong.â
The housekeeper smiled slightly. âYou must not be a regular drinker. Indeed, the fruit wine in our hotel
might not be strong enough for those who frequently drink, but for those who donât, it can have quite an
effect. Usually, you wonât feel much at first, but later on, youâll start to feel a warmth spreading
throughout your body, and your head might feel dizzy. These are all normal reactions.â
Is that really the case? I donât usually consume alcohol, nor do I have much of a taste for it. However, I
did end up drinking quite a bit during the toasts last night. Nevertheless, that still doesnât explain the
physical pain Iâm experiencing.
Eileen felt too embarrassed to ask this question.
Immediately after, the housekeeper stepped forward and touched Eileenâs forehead. âMs. Swan, are
you feeling weak all over, experiencing a headache, and a bit nauseous?â
Eileen nodded. âYes, a little.â
âThatâs normal. You might feel better after you finish the hangover remedy.â
Eileen replied, âOkay.â
