Chapter 88
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair
Chapter 88 Be Good
As the car approached, Vera was shocked to see that it was Eileen, accompanied by an unfamiliar
man. However, there was something vaguely familiar about him.
âEric, letâs pull over quickly. Itâs Eileen.â
Eileen looked at the car and noticed the familiar license plate number. Her face instantly turned pale.
Just as smoke started billowing from the carâs hood, Eileen hurriedly got out. However, as soon as her
foot touched the ground, her body went limp.
Fabian quickly grabbed a spare fire extinguisher and put out the fire.
Jasper walked over, his face filled with concern as he checked on Eileen. âAre you hurt? Can you stand
up?â
She wasnât hurt. Jasper had protected her well during the incident. Eileen didnât want to admit that she
had fallen because her legs had given out from fear.
Whenever she thought about the puppeteer behind the scenes, Eileenâs heart couldnât find peace.
Apprehension constantly loomed over her.
Wiping the blood from his forehead, Richard said, âMs. Eileen, you must have been frightened.â
A cold glint of murderous intent flashed in Jasperâs eyes, but he gently reassured her. âItâs okay, donât
be afraid. Iâll handle this. Can I help you up?â
Eileen spoke softly. âAre you hurt?â
The corners of Jasperâs mouth lifted into a smile. âIâm fine.â
Thatâs great. Iâm glad heâs okay.
Jasper helped Eileen up, her legs still a bit weak. As she stood, she noticed something off about
Jasperâs complexion. âWhy is your face so pale? Are your legs injured?â
âLift it up, let me have a lookâ¦
Jasper held her hand. âIâm fine, donât worry.â
Fabian said, âIâve already contacted the mansion. Theyâll be sending a car soon. Please bear with it a
little longer, Mr. Smith.â

He and Richard knew the inside story. Jasperâs legs hadnât fully recovered. If Jasper hadnât insisted,
Fabian would never have allowed him to get out of bed.
Today is Ms. Eileenâs birthday. Sheâs a very special woman to Mr. Smith.
No one expected this to happen. Just as the car was making a sharp turn at high speed, it crashed into
the guardrail, and Jasper banged his legs.
Vera hurried over, his face filled with anxious concern. âItâs really you, Eileen! What happened? Are you
hurt?â
Eileen noticed that Vera was holding a pink teddy bear. It was the same one that Jasper had asked her
if she wanted as a birthday gift. Eileen was surprised to find that Vera also liked it.
âEric, come here quickly.â
Upon seeing the approaching man, Eileenâs eyes flashed with anger. She quickly averted her gaze, not
wanting to look at him.
He sure arrived at the right time. Did he come to check if we were dead or not? Iâm truly sorry for letting
you down, Eric.
Eric approached with a sharp look in his eyes. âMr. Smith had a car accident? Are you seriously
injured?â
Eileen noticed that as Eric and Jasper locked eyes, there seemed to be an invisible tension. enveloping
the surroundings, creating a somewhat oppressive atmosphere.
Jasper didnât reply to Eric. He had investigated the background of every single one of the Swans, and
none of them came out clean. But Eileen is different, she is kind and beautiful, yet unfortunately born in
such a filthy place.
If it werenât for Eileen, the people of the Swan family wouldnât even have the privilege to see him.
Jasper didnât pay attention to Eric.
Jasper turned to Fabian and asked, âHow much longer until the person arrives?â
Fabian replied, âItâll take about fifteen more minutes.â
âDid you get a good look at the car that just sped by?â
Fabian lowered his head. âIâm sorry, Mr. Smith. I didnât get a clear look.â
Jasperâs voice suddenly turned cold. âThen go investigate. I want the culprit caught within three days.â
âYes, Mr. Smith,â Fabian said.

Vera stepped forward, taking Eileenâs hand with warm concern. âEileen, are you okay? Eric and I were
planning to celebrate your birthday at home. If it werenât for Sharon, we wouldnât have known that I
missed your last birthday. This time, Iâve prepared a gift for you but you didnât show up. Next time, I
want to host a birthday party for you again.â
Eileenâs face turned cold as she withdrew her hand. âNo need to trouble yourself. You and Eric should
go back first! Weâll handle everything here.â
She could feel Ericâs gaze on her every move. Eileen didnât want to meet his eyes.
âHow can we casually trouble others with our own affairs, Eileen? Have you forgotten what Father
said? If you encounter any trouble or mishap outside, just let me know. You and Vera get in the car first,
Iâll have a few words with Mr. Smith, then Iâll take you home.â Ericâs voice was like the calm after a
storm.
He had warned Eileen that he wouldnât let her off easily if she met with Jasper privately.
Jasper pulled her behind him. âIll ensure Eileenâs safe return. Mr. Snow, thereâs no need for you to
worry.â
Eric smiled slightly. He didnât pay any attention to Jasper. Instead, his gaze fell on Eileen. âEileen, be
good, okay?â
Eileen took a step from behind Jasper. âJasper⦠I want to go home with Eric first.â
She wouldnât be able to escape Eric as long as she was still with the Swan family.
A hint of melancholy flashed in Jasperâs eyes. His hand rested on her head, his voice carrying a tone of
indulgence. âWhen you get home, remember to call me.â
Eileen quickly responded, nodded, and left, taking a seat in Ericâs car.
She tactfully took a seat in the back, right behind the co-driverâs seat.
Vera said, âEric, Iâll wait for you in the carâ¦â
Eileen sat in the car, gazing out the window, unable to make out what they were saying.
Vera turned to Eileen and asked, âEileen, it seemed like that person had feelings for you. Are you two
dating?â
âThis is my personal matter⦠Eileen closed her eyes, feeling apprehensive. What will Eric do to me
when I return?
At the moment, she had no power to confront him. She simply couldnât defeat Eric.
Vera smiled, a hint of embarrassment on her face as she tucked her hair behind her ears. âIâm

sorry! I was just worried about you.â
Eileen didnât respond. She heard the driverâs seat door open and close again. Vera was whispering
something to Eric.
She didnât bother to pay attention.
The car slowly started moving, and soon they arrived at Undella Mansion.
Eric commanded, âGet out of the car!â
Eileen opened her eyes. She hadnât said a word during the journey. Even when Eric asked her
something, she didnât hear it clearly.
her head,
Upon entering the mansion, the living room lights were on. Mary was propping up on the verge of
falling asleep. The table was filled with a variety of dishes, and in the middle. there was a cake that was
almost completely eaten.
Upon hearing the noise, Mary quickly woke up. She yawned, wiping the drool from her chin. âOh my,
Ms. Eileen, what time is it? Why are you just getting home now? Thereâs a whole. table of food here. Iâll
warm it up for you. Itâs been ready for quite a while.â
Eileenâs face remained expressionless. âNo need. Iâve already eaten. Iâm going upstairs to rest
first.â
âHalt!â
Eric, like the master of the house, tossed his car keys at the entrance and walked straight in.
emanating a chilling and dangerous aura.
