Chapter 33

Dante's pov

I was in deep sleep when I heard someone's yelling my name. I groaned opening my eyes and once again I heard my name being called. It's my brother's voice and he was not just shouting my name but he was calling others too.

I switched on the lights and my eyes fell on the nearby watch.

3:33 AM.

I frowned when Ashton again yelled my name and I rushed out of my room. When I was in the corridor I heard his voice was coming from downstairs. I instantly rushed there. My parents and Sarah was also rushing downstairs.

Once I reached there, I saw Crystal was laid in couch and Ashton was sprinkling water drops in her face and was looking panicked. I rushed towards them.

"What happened?" Sarah asked in surprise when she saw him with Crystal.

"She fainted" Ashton said and I touched her forehead only to realise that she was burning.

"M-mom, she is burning" I said and tried to shook her but she wasn't waking up.

Mom immediately came to us and touched her forehead and gasped.

"Let's take her to the hospital" Mom said and I nodded and lift Crystal's unconscious frame in my arms and ran towards the exit without waiting for them but I knew that they will follow me.

I rushed towards my car and settled Crystal in backseat and started my car. After driving for almost five to ten minutes I reached my destination. I wasted no time in leaving the car and once again lifted Crystal in my arms and rushed inside the hospital.

When I was in the emergency ward I yelled for the doctor to which they immediately came to me. I settled Crystal in the strecher and looked at the doctor while the nurses went inside along with the strecher.

"Doctor, she was burning in fever and fainted. I don't know what happened to her. Please check her" I said to which he nodded and rushed inside whereas I settled myself in the nearby bench waiting for others.

Soon my family came to me and sat beside me and consoled me.

"What exactly happened Ashton?" Dad asked looking at Ashton to which we all looked at him.

"I don't know dad. I was thirsty so I went to the kitchen and there I saw Crystal. She had a glass in her hand but in a second she left the glass and fainted in front of me. And when I went to her she was burning in fever and that's when I took her to the couch and called everyone" Ashton completed.

"But she was okay when I talked to her before the dinner" Sarah frowned looking at the closed door.

What happened to you Crystal?

I sighed sadly and kept looking at the closed door in my front. This is the second time in week when Crystal is in hospital. At first she was in hospital because of Maddison and now she is in hospital for God knows what reason.

I was thinking about Crystal when finally the door opened revealing the doctor.

"What happened to her? Is she ok now?" I asked immediately to which he nodded.

"Don't worry Mr knight, your wife is stable now. We have taken her blood sample and we will give you the results soon. But right now looking at her condition I think she might have eaten something really unhealthy which caused this" He said to which I narrowed my eyes at him.

"What? But I made the food myself and I have always been careful with my work" Mom said looking worried.

"Than maybe she consumed something other than the homemade food. Though it's not confirmed that she has eaten something unhealthy. It just a doubt which will be clear after the results" Doctor said with a little sigh.

"And about her fever, I have already injected her. So, soon she will get rid of the fever" Doctor said to which I nodded.

"Can I see her?" I asked to which he nodded with a smile.

Giving him a quick nod I quickly went inside to see that Crystal was still unconscious and few wires and tubes were attached in her delicate body. I took slow steps towards her bed.

My heart ached looking at her face which was really, really, really pale. She looked so weak yet so beautiful.

I sat in the nearby chair and touched her forehead. She was still burning in fever.

It's all my fault. I shouldn't have listened to her. I should have taken her to the hospital before only.

"You're way too stubborn Crystal. Look where are you now because of your stubbornness. Can't you for once listen to someone else other than your own self" I said glaring at her unconscious figure.

I caught her palm and rubbed that against my hands softly.

Soon my mom entered the room and placed her hand on my shoulder. I was about to get up from my seat but mom stopped me.

"Don't worry. She will be fine" Mom said to which I nodded a little.

"Dante I said stop worrying so much" Mom said once again to which I looked at her and sighed.

"How can I not mom? Seeing her in this condition, in hospital, I'm feeling guilty. I should have taken her to the hospital before only. I know she is stubborn but I should have forced her" I said to which mom shook her head.

"Dante, don't. Don't blame yourself. It wasn't your fault. Her getting sick has nothing to do with you" Mom said sternly.

"And if I am not wrong, you are the one who bought medicines for her after knowing that she was sick so you don't get to blame yourself" Mom said and I nodded a little.

"Me, Sarah and your dad are leaving. Ashton is there for you and Crystal, okay" She said to which I nodded.

"Call us when you get her reports, okay" Mom said to which I hummed.

Soon she left the room. After sometime, Ashton came to me and passed me a coffee. He settled himself in the nearby couch.

After waiting for sometime, the doctor finally came with Crystal's reports. I and Ashton both stood up and looked at him attentively.

"What happened doctor? Is everything alright?" I asked impatiently.

"Is she okay? What happened to her?" Ashton asked after me.

"Mr knight, my doubt was right. According to the reports, she is suffering from food poisoning. Looking at her reports I can say that she has consumed contaminated food. It's not usually serious and most people get better within a few days without treatment. In most cases of food poisoning, the food is contaminated by bacteria, such as salmonella or Escherichia coli (E. coli), or a virus, such as the norovirus" He said and I looked at him shocked.

"But she always eats homemade food which either is prepared by my mom or chef and they all make sure to prepare healthy food" I said with a frown.

"Maybe she ate something from outside and that might be unhealthy" Ashton replied to which I nodded.

Maybe.

"Now what doctor?" I asked looking at him.

"Well, she needs proper rest, medicines and a healthy diet chart" He said to which I nodded.

"Um.. Something else we need to know" Ashton asked him.

"Well because she has food poisoning, she might suffer from stomach aches, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, chills, aching muscles and so on. So it would be good if she takes a proper rest" He said sternly to which we both nodded.

"I'll soon give you the prescription and her diet chart" He said and started walking away but I stopped him.

"When will she gain conscious?" I asked him.

"Mr knight she will wake up after 5 to 6 hours" He said to which I hummed.

"I'm calling mom" Ashton said and left the room leaving me alone with Crystal.

I once again sat beside her and caressed her forehead a little.

"Tomorrow I'm gonna be really strict with you Crystal. No matter how much you cry or get hurt" I said to her sleeping frame and sighed.
