Chapter 13

It was finally six o'clock and time for us to go to the game, I had fun hanging out with everyone at Ash's house, well the guys including Ash mostly stayed in the living room playing call of duty black ops and some other fighting game that they wouldn't let us touch or interfere with, they were really wrapped up in the game, so that gave us some girl time as Jenna stated we didn't really talk about much because we would lose our train of thoughts as the guys would scream and yell at the game. I don't see what is so interesting about the game but they all seem to love it a little too much if you ask me. Me and the girls were waiting by the door for them to finish up the game so we could leave I think we're going to be late, which wouldn't make sense because Sean and Ash have to play in the game tonight. I sighed and headed to the living room where they were still immersed in the game they all had head phone on speaking into them I guess they were playing online.

"Guys come on the games going to start with out you and Ash and Sean you need to get up to did you forget your in the game too" I told them they didn't move Ash waved her hand at me before getting back into the game. Ok then I guess I'll unplug it I went in front of the T.V. hearing them groan for me to move out the way. I turned to them.

"Get up Ash and Sean you have a game to play so save the damn game and lets go"

I told them they narrowed their eyes at me.

"Gabriel can you please move" Matt asked trying to see around my body I shook my head.

"No" I turned and pressed a button that was lighting up when I pressed it the screen went black I grinned triumphantly before turning around with a smug expression.

"Gabby really" Ash said standing up as I nodded

"Yea you have a game that you need to play captain" I told she looked at her watch and her eyes widened.

"Shit Sean come on we have to go" she pulled off the headphone and threw them on the couch along with her controller. She put her shoes back on before grabbing her keys off the table.

"Sean you drove right" she asked he nodded

"Ok then lets go hurry up people" she grabbed me and pulled me out the house followed by the others.

"See this is what happens when you don't listen to me Ash" I told her as she practically threw me in the car making me hit my head on the gearshift. Ouch much I rubbed my head that's going to leave a mark.

"That hurt Ash" I told her as she backed out the drive way

"Oh sorry I'm kind of in a rush" she told me looking at me as I continued to rub my head.

"If you would have listened you wouldn't have to rush" I told her she looked at me apologetically.

"I know I didn't hear you" she said taking her hand off the wheel and rummaged through her bag.

"Ash can you put two hands on the wheel please" I asked looking down making sure I buckled my seat belt.

"Shut up Gabby" she said still going through her bag until she pulled something white out and tossed it to me. I looked at it confused.

" Ash what is this" I asked she sighed snatching it out my hand and started squeezing it then she gave it back to me. Oh it's a cold pack.

"It's a cold pack now put it on your head and be quiet" she said focusing her attention back on driving well speeding I put the pack on my head and rested my head on the window until we arrived at the school. I took us a few minutes to find a parking space because it was pretty crowded tonight.

"I didn't know it was going to be this crowded," I told Ash as we rushed inside the building.

"Yea its always like this at our games but it isn't usually less people at our away games" She said opened her bag and pulled out her jersey and pulled it over her head still walking towards the gym. We stopped in front of the locker room.

"You want to wait here till I come back out or you going to catch up with the others" She asked I wanted to wait but then I didn't know where everyone else would be.

"I'm going to find the others so I can get a seat" I told her she nodded before turning to go into the locker room.

"Ash wait don't forget to kick some butt" I said smiling she laughed at me.

"I always do," she said while going into the locker room. Okay now to find the others I went into the gym. Where most of the students were still dressed in there attire with there face painted, I looked at the other side of the gym where there were mostly students dressed in orange I'm assuming that the school we are going against. I looked around searching for my friends but I didn't see them so I went back out the gym and towards the entrance where I saw Sean running down the hall towards the locker room.

"Hey where are the others" I asked as he ran past me

"Down the hallway" he yelled over his shoulder I shook my head and continued to walk down the hallway until I found them standing around talking.

"What are you doing" I asked as I approached them.

"Nothing just talking" I nodded my head they looked at me

"What" I asked looking down at myself was there something on me

"What happened to your head" Samantha asked looking at the side of my head I reached up and touched it I could feel a small lump I sighed.

"Ash did it" I was cut off before I could finish

"What she hit you where is she" they said at the same time I opened my mouth to speak again but was interrupted again by Jenna.

"Come on girls lets get her" They all ran down the hallway leaving me behind with matt and Alex.

"Idiots, you guys stop them" I told them they looked at me and shook their heads

"Sorry I agree with them she shouldn't have hit you" Matt said

"Yea even though she's my friend I agree with them but I never knew Ash to violent unless someone hit her" Alex mumbled

"No she didn't hit me I hit my head on the gearshift when she put me in the truck" I explained to them and they laughed at me.

"You guys it isn't funny"

"Yes it is well you better catch them before they give her hell" Matt said still laughing I huffed and took off down the hallway hoping to catch the idiots before they ran into Ash.

(Ash POV)

I'm sitting in the locker room listening to the coach giving us the game plan. I have to go up next and tell them all the plays that we went over then I had to give the "motivation" speech. I don't think they did one they know what they want and that's to win. The coach finished his little speech and it was my turn. I stood up and made my way to the middle.

"Ok so we are going to start the game out strong with a full court press that means I need players 1 and 4 focused and 2 and 3 I want you up the wing and player 5 I want you inbounding the ball from the base line whoever is free pass the ball to them from then on it should be a easy layup for you and that's if we do everything right from point one. Now if we are for defense I want everyone cover their man and do formation B" I paused and looked at them they seemed focus and determined " is everyone following so far" I asked they nodded " good ok I want Mike, Dan, Sean, and Jack on the floor for the first half if we are the offending but for defense I want John, Will, Steve, and Ryan I want you on the floor if we are defending" they nodded I think I'm doing a good job at this captain thing. "Ok the games about the begin I'm not going to give you guys some wimpy speech about how you guys can do it and that we" I was interrupted by Samantha, Amber, Jenna, and Aly who burst in the room looking angry I turned to them along with the rest of the team.

"Guys I'm kind of in the middle of something" I told them they glared at me ok what the hell did I do this time.

"We don't care what your in the middle of" Samantha said stepping closer to me I looked at them confused.

"Ok what did I do?" I asked causing them to glare at me even more.

"What did you do did you see Gabriel's head" I looked at them before realizing what they were talking about.

"Oh that I told her I was sorry" I said not understanding what that had to with this

"Sorry that's what you said" Jenna screeched I nodded

"She said she was fine" I told them they step closer to me.

"You do not hit my friend and think you can get away with it" Samantha said poking me in my chest ouch.

"What were you thinking Ash I thought you were better than that what gives you the right to hit her" Aly said kicking me in my shin I bent down and clutched my leg.

" Ouch, what the hell you guys I didn't do anything it was an accident" I told them they all hovered over me glaring.

"You don't accidently put your hands on someone Ash" Amber said whoa quiet chick looks scary; I nodded still not understanding what was going on.

"I didn't put my hand on her she fell" I told them they glared at me again before Jenna kicked me on my other shin.

"Shit Jenna" I cursed holding my other leg I looked at my team and they looked just as confused as me.

"She fell she told us you did it" Aly said looking at me with disappointment

"Guys come on calm" the door swung opened to an out of breath Gabriel she looked down at me with wide eyes then back at her friends who had a smug expression on their face.

"Don't worry Gabriel we handle her just find she wont touch you again" Amber said

"What the hell is going on" I asked Gabriel as she came over to me and helped me up.

"I'm so sorry Ash it's a misunderstanding" She said quickly I say the lump they referred to on the side of her head I lifted my hand up to touch but was kicked again by them.

"Dammit stop kicking me" I shouted at them

"No you will not lay a hand on her again its ok Gabriel of you don't have to apologize to her" Samantha said Gabriel shook her head and moved closer to me.

"You don't understand" she began but was cut off my Aly

"Gabriel don't defend her"

"Could you guys shut up for a minute and let me finish" Gabriel shouted at them they looked at her then glared at me.

"Like I was saying before you guys ran off Ash put me in the car but I fell and hit my head on the gearshift thus the bump on my head" she said quickly looking at each of them.

"That's what this is about you really thought I would hit her," I asked through narrowed eyes they grinned sheepishly rubbing their heads. Did they really think I would hit her I would never hit her no matter how angry I was I would never lay a hand on her, matter fact I wouldn't lay a hand on anybody unless its self defense.

"Sorry Ash it's just a misunderstanding" they said in unison I glared at them and turned back to Gabriel.

"You should put the cold pack back on your head to make the swelling go down" I told her softly she nodded I turned back to the girls behind us.

"I would love to sit and chat but I have a game I have win so if you could leave I like to finish what I was saying" I said glaring at them as they nodded their head and left out quickly mumbling their apologies. I sighed and told Gabriel to sit down until I was finished. I turned back to the team.

Ok like I was saying I'm not going to give some sappy speech about the game all I'm going to say is stay focused and pay attention to the game we want to win remember win does everyone understand" they nodded I shook my head

"I said does everyone understand" I shouted they all shout yea and banged in the lockers yelling Panthers as they ran out the locker room I grinned at them.

"Looks like your doing a good job with be captain" Gabriel said I nodded at her and handed her another cold pack for her head.

"Come on I have a game to get to," I told her pulling her up and taking her out the locker room. Everyone was cheering as the team walked out I pulled Gabriel to the bleachers where Aly and the others were sitting looking at me with a small grin as I glared at them.

"Good luck Ash" Gabriel said before I left

"I don't need luck if my favorite person wearing my jersey" I told her grinning before the ref called the captains for the coin toss. I walked to the middle and greeted the other teams captains.

"ok I'm going to put us  on offense remember what I said we are going in strong alright" they nodded as we went to the floor the ref blew the whistle signaling the start of the game. I went back to the center to do the jump off I watched as the ref threw the ball up I bent my legs a jumped as the ball came back down I hit it over to my team.

(Gabriel POV)

Ok so the situation got a little out of hand, I think Ash was right we really have to find some new friends, even though it is nice to know that they have my back when I need it, but they need to let me explain it first before they decide to kill someone. I watched as Ash jumped in the air and knocked the ball over to her teammates signaling the beginning of the game I still don't understand the game, but I think they are doing good from the cheers and from the fact that they still have the ball in their hands. I watch as Sean runs down the court with the ball passing it to some guy on edge of the court who in turns passes it to Ash who has a clear path to the hoop she dribbles the ball down and does a layup before going back to her original position not paying attention to the cheers from the crowd. The game goes kept going until the other team called a time out. I look at the scoreboard and to see that we are ahead by 10 with and 10 minutes until half time.

"Gabriel we are really sorry about earlier" Samantha said I turned to them they all looked like they regretted it.

"I'm not the one who needs to hear that I think you should talk to Ash especially you Aly I mean you knew her longer than any of us so you should know that she would never hit me or anybody intentionally, even I know she would never hurt anyone unless she had to" I told her she sighed and nodded

"I know but I thought she did and the bump on your head" she said I nodded turning back to the game that was starting again Ash is a really good player and captain. She focused on the game and her team around her. I can see that she analyzing the other teams players as she plays. She receives the ball again and heads down the court shooting a jump shot from the 3point line. I cheered along with the rest of the crowd I smiled as she grinned at me before going back to the game. After awhile the buzzer came on signaling the 2nd half of the game the player's went back to the sidelines to take a break. We were still winning but only by 8, I looked back at the team who were hunched over they seemed to be in a deep conversation nodding their heads occasionally to whatever Ash and the coach were saying. The buzzer went off again and the team went back out but Ash stayed on sidelines calling out to them.

(Ash POV)

So I decided not to go in the game this half, the team can't depend on me every game to win. We currently have the ball but I can see that he is struggling to keep it I run my hand through my hair in frustration the boy can't dribble how did he get on the team I turned to the coach who look just as frustrated as me.

"Coach no offense but why in the hell is number 10 on the team if he can't dribble" I asked the coach looked at me and groaned.

"He wasn't supposed to play until later in the season" He said I looked at him.

"Why didn't you tell me can we substitute" I asked he nodded his head and went to tell the ref god something is wrong with him we are behind 4 points because of him and we only have 20 minutes to catch up. I watch as the other team scored another point I throw my hands up in frustration.

"Come on you guys stay focus and dribble the damn ball right," I yelled out to them the ref blew his whistle calling for substitutes about time I threw down my towel and called for the number 10 substitute with me. I slapped his hand and the game began again the other team currently had the ball.

"Guard them," I yelled out to the team as I ran to the guy with the ball and stole it I dribbled down the court and stopped at the three point line and shot. Good we only need about 3 more shots and we can win. I ran back up the court with the rest of the team I looked at the time we had about 10 minutes to get ahead. I looked at my team a signaled for another full court press they nodded, Sean went in and stole the ball from the opposing team he dribbled down the court and shot the ball earning us another 3 points I high fived him as he came back.

"Sean we need 2 more shots and we got this" I told him as we watched the other team pass the ball around.

"Lets double team them and you go for the three point shot I'll try and keep the other players off you just be ready when I pass you the ball" I nodded and went back to my original position. Sean got the ball and ran to get opened he passed the ball to me my players gave me room to get to the center and I shot the ball I heard a satisfying swoosh as it went in. we only had 5 minutes on the clock to win and we needed one more 3 pointer and we would have this.

"Alright guys position B"I yelled out to them as I put my hands on my knees to catch my breath.

(Gabriel POV)

"Position B" I heard Ash yell to her team mates they all got into a diamond like formation that you probably couldn't see if you were on the court. Sean received the ball and started running down the court.

"That so cool" I heard Alex mumble as he watched everyone stay in the diamond like formation while they were running, it is fascinating watching them stay in sync with each other. Sean passed the ball to some blonde guy who then proceeded to pass it to the person next to him until it got to the tip of the diamond where some other guy was standing he faked a jump shot causing the other team to run over to him to block him but he passed it to Ash who made another 3 point shot. We were officially ahead by 1 point with only 2 minutes on the clock I could tell that the players were tired but they kept moving until they had the ball again the scored he last shot as the buzzer went off I looked at the final score 38 44.

(Ash POV)

Ha we won I smiled as we walked off the court. That was a close call I went to the ref and he handed me the game ball. I went back to the team handed the coach the ball he grinned at us.

"Ash you can speak to them" he said I nodded

"Ok we did ok but we still need to work on this as a team you can't keep passing me the ball and I should be able to depend on you guys to make the points with out my help I cant play the entire game" They nodded understanding.

"and number 10 you need to work on your dribbling you almost cost us the game" I told him he glared at me and I glared back.

"Do you have a problem with what I said?" I asked him he shook his head no.

"That's what I thought anyway overall I think we did fairly well for our first game, so go celebrate or whatever you plan to do" I told them they grinned and cheered.

(Gabriel POV)

Ash and Sean came over to us with towels around their necks both of them had a sheen of sweat coated on them I grinned at them.

"Nice game you guys you were actually good" I said they smirked at me

"What did you expect?" Ash said throwing her sweaty arm over my shoulder I scrunched up my face at her.

"Ew Ash get your nasty arm off of me," I told her shrugging her off of me she frowned at me.

"Is that the kind of congratulation I get for winning the game" She asked I nodded my head.

"Yea you smell and your sweaty you can get your congrats after you take a shower" I told her smirking at her as she pouted at me.

"I don't smell that bad" She said as she sniffed herself

"Yes you do Ash"

"Fine but your not wearing my jersey ever again" She mumbled I laughed at her and pushed her towards the locker rooms.

"Hurry up I want to go home" She frowned at me

"You don't want to spend time with me and celebrate" She asked I grinned and looked at my watch

"Nah I'm kind of tired," I told her she smirked at me

"You know what would wake you up" she asked as her smirk grew I shook my head.

"This" she threw her wet sweaty towel in my face I screeched and heard her laugh before she ran.

"Ash ewww that's disgusting" I yelled running after her as she continued laughing.

"I told you, you would wake up" she said running into the locker room I followed right behind her.

"Gabby you cant be in here," she said running in between the lockers

"To hell I cant" I yelled back trying to find her where the hell did she go I slowed down to a walk looking in all the isles until I heard showers running I headed in that direction only to see half of the basketball team walking around half naked I screamed and covered my eyes.

"Whoa hot chick 2 o'clock" Someone shouted out I could feel my cheeks heat up

"Gabriel what are you doing in here" I heard Sean ask

"I don't know I was looking for Ash she came in here but I lost her" I said frantically with my hands still over my eyes.

"Well she's not in here so could you leave" He asked I nodded my head and turned around only to run into a locker I heard them laughing at me.

"Sean I can't get out" I told him

"It would help if you uncovered your eye" He said I shook my head

"No" I said trying to find my way out blindly only to crash into someone else I shrieked again.

"Naked guy naked guy" I yelled I heard them laugh in the background as I blushed someone put their hand on my shoulder and I jumped away.

"Watch it buddy just because I have my eyes cover doesn't mean I wont kick your ass" I said angrily I heard a chuckle.

"Relax Gabby it me Ash" I heard her say I sighed in relief

"Ash that girl is funny," Someone said as everyone laughed.

"I know that's why I keep her around" She said as she guided me out the shower area.

"You can uncover your eyes now" She said

"Is it safe" I asked she chuckled

"Yes Gabby its safe" I slowly peaked in between my fingers to see Ash standing in front of me in a pair of cargo shorts and a white Hollister t shirt with a pair of whit vans her hair was also dripping wet.

"Ash how could you let me go in there" I asked glaring at her she smirked at me.

"How was I supposed to know you would walk into the guys taking a shower and I thought you left" She said as she grabbed my hand and led me out this stupid maze of a locker room.

"NO I couldn't find my way out so I thought I would find you," I told her as she opened a locker to get her duffel bag out before we left the locker room.

"Well no one told you to chase after me," she stated as we stopped in front of our friends.

"Well no one told you to throw your sweaty towel in my face either" I said with my nose scrunched up at her she laughed and threw her arm over my shoulder.

"It wasn't sweat it was water that I spilled," She said laughing again I stomped on her foot and she swore glaring at me as I smirked at her.

"What's wrong Ash," I asked still smirking at her she rolled her eyes and looked away.

"Nothing" she mumbled under her breath I turned to Samantha and the other who were grinning at us.

"So are you guys going anywhere special," I asked them they shook their ends.

"Nope we're going home but there is a bond fire tomorrow night at the palm beach that they organize every for the first game we win" she said I nodded

"Are you guys going" they nodded again except for Aly who was looking at Ash who was avoiding her gaze.

"We have to go, catch you tomorrow?" Amber asked

"Yea she'll be there" Ash said I looked at her with my eyebrows raised

"I like how you decide that I'm going don't I have a say in it" I asked her with my arms crossed she laughed.

"Well you were going to say yes any way I was just helping you speak"

"I don't need help speaking" I told huffing she laughed again and ruffled my hair I pushed her hand away and tried to fix my hair.

"So are you going" Samantha asked

"Yup" Ash laughed again I gave her a look and she shut up the others laughed at her and she glared at them.

"Bye guys" they said leaving only Aly was left.

"Ash can I talk to you" She asked

(Ash POV)

"Ash can I talk to you" Aly asked me once everyone left I looked at her should I talk to her I looked at Gabriel and she nodded I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.

"Yea" I went in my pocket and gave Gabriel the keys to my truck.

"You can wait in the car I'll be there in a couple of seconds and be careful" I told her she nodded her head and left.

"What do you want," I asked turning back to Aly she looked shocked at my tone what did she expect.

"Ash I'm sorry about earlier I didn't mean to"

"I thought you of all people should know I wouldn't hit anybody especially Gabriel" I told her she put her head down.

"I know I just saw her head and then she said that you did it but we didn't stay to listen to the rest of her explanation I don't know why I thought you did it but I'm sorry Ash I really am I should have known you wouldn't " she said I looked back at her as she stared at me I sighed.

"Fine I forgive you this time I have to go," I mumbled walking away from her and out the gym to my truck.

"So did you forgive her," Gabriel asked as I pulled out the parking lot

"Yea she is a friend after all," I mumbled to her she grinned.

"Good if you didn't I would have made you go back and forgive her" I laughed at her

"Right I would have so listened to you" I said sarcastically she punched me in the arm and I swerved a little on the road purposely she screeched and sat back.

"See you don't hit the driver" I told her laughing she glared at me.

"Ash you could have crashed" She yelled I laughed again

"Don't worry I know what I'm doing I looked before I did it" I said still laughing at her horrified expression. She sat a pouted the rest of the ride while I bobbed my head to the music occasionally glancing at her. I turned the radio up louder when my favorite part of Party Rock Anthem came on I belted out the lyrics. "Yo, I'm runnin' through these ho's like Drano I got that devilish flow, rock 'n' roll, no halo We party rock, yeah, that's the crew that I'm reppin' On the rise to the top, no lead in our zeppelin, hey" I turned to Gabriel to see her laughing and singing the chorus with me we paused and look at each other before saying " Everyday I'm Shuffling" we both laughed as we pulled into her drive way I turned down the radio and unlocked the door for her.

"Thanks for giving me a ride"

"Any time I'll change your tire tomorrow if that ok with you" I told her

"Yea that's fine" she hopped out the car and closed the door while I rolled down the window

"Alright ill be here at like 12 probably I'll call you before I leave out oh and don't forget about the bond fire so find your swim suit tonight" I told her she nodded.

"Oh before you leave her take it" She took off my jacket and jersey and handed it to me I took the jacket but I threw back the jersey.

"Keep it I expect you to wear it to my games" I told her smirking she grinned back at me.

"You sure" She asked I nodded

"Yup now go in the house so I can leave" I grinned at her as she laughed and walked to the front door she waved at me once she got inside I waved back and left. I arrived home about 20 minutes later I walked in the house and went to the kitchen where Jesse was sitting eating ice cream.

"What ups did you win?" He ask as I grabbed a can of soda out the fridge

"Of course we won" I told him grinning he looked at me and shook his head I walked up the stairs towards my room when I saw my dad coming out his room in his pj's.

"Hey dad"

"How was the game" He asked

"Good we won" I said he smiled

"Congratulation"

"Thanks" I was going back to my room but he called out to me

"Ash I heard you playing today" he said my hand froze on the doorknob as he put his hand on my shoulder. I didn't want to talk about it.

"I haven't heard that song in awhile" I could hear the sadness in his voice I sighed and opened the door to my room.

"Night dad" I mumbled

"Goodnight Ash" I heard him say and walk away I closed the door and took off my clothes and went to bed.
