Chapter 3
Somewhere Only We Know (editing) Book 1
Chapter 3
(Ash POV)
So, today seems normal. I'm running away from the same teacher who insists on telling me about my uniform and as usual, I shrug him off and run to my class. I'm actually kind of curious as to how Gabriel's going to act today. I walked into the class and sat in my same seat, next to Alex, who was gossiping as usual with the guys. I swear they act like a bunch of girls sometimes. I only caught bits and pieces of their conversation, but the thing that caught my attention was what Alex said next.
"I heard Declan got her number yesterday," Alex said sadly.
"No, I heard Declan gave her his number," Some random guy I didn't know or cared to knows spoke up.
"Either way, he is going to get her number somehow," Alex whined. I shook my head at them.
"Well, what do expect? Half of the guys in the school are after her, you're just too slow," I told him, putting my head down. For some reason, I feel a little down after hearing that Declan and her were friends. I don't really care for Declan after what he did to Carey. I don't know exactly what happened, but I know she transferred schools and he, of course, blamed it on me.
"Aww, Ash, you're just mad because she doesn't like you!" Alex said, grinning. I rolled my eyes at him.
"I don't really care if she likes me or not, it doesn't matter ," I grumbled back at him which in turn caused him to grin even more.
"You hear that, boys? Ash has finally come face to face with a girl who doesn't fall for her at first sight!" Alex shouted, causing the boys around us to roar with laughter.
"Shut up, Alex. She's straight anyway," I mumbled into my arm.
"And you know what that means. We all have a chance to get with her!" Alex stated more to himself, but the others heard him.
"Sweet!" there was a chorus of shouts on who can get her first. I again rolled my eyes at their foolishness.
"You guys know that she's not a piece a meat you can fight over!" Aly frowned at them, but they of course didn't pay her any mind before going back to argue over her.
"So did she speak to you after gym yesterday? It was pretty awkward during gym" Aly asked.
"Nope, and I don't really care if she does or not. If that's how she wants to be, then fine. I just thought she wouldn't be the one to judge people," I stated looking at her. I've had my fair share of homophobes, this is nothing new which is why I never correct anyone when they mis-gender me.
"Maybe she was shocked." I rolled my eyes. She wasn't in shock.
"Yea, I thought the same thing last night, but then I thought, you can't be in shock for 3 hours," I sat up as Gabriel walked through the door looking as perfect as ever. I sighed and ran my hands through my hair, as she got closer to her seat, which happened to be next to mine.
"Well, here is your chance to ask her," Aly said with a sly smile on her face
"Nope, I'm good. If she doesn't want to speak then I'm not going to speak," I huffed, crossed my arms and leaned back.
"Real mature, Ash," She rolled her eyes at me
"Well, she started it!" I mumbled. I turned away from her. I stared, well, more like glared at the chalkboard, ignoring Gabriel as she took her seat in between Alex and I, who immediately started to flirt with her.
(Gabriel POV)
After thinking last night, I realized that I shouldn't have ignored Ash. I guess I can apologize today in class. I'm actually really nervous to go to first period, which is why I'm standing outside the door pacing back and forth wondering how I should approach her.
"Hey Gabriel, what are you doing?" I jumped at the voice. I turned around and saw Declan leaning against the lockers near the door, smirking.
"How long have you been there?" I asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
"Long enough to see you mumbling to yourself," He said, smirking again as I blushed slightly.
"Well, that's embarrassing," I muttered.
"What seems to be the problem?" he asked
"Umm, well, it's about Ash," I mumbled and looked up at him to see his eyes harden.
"What about her?" he asked clearly not liking her.
"Never mind, I can figure it out myself," I told him scrunching my eyes in confusion at his sudden anger.
"Look, I actually like you and I know we just met, but you're new and you need to know to stay away from her," He said with a serious expression that looked adorable on his face; but that's beside the point.
"Why?" I asked curiously.
"She uses girls all the time. You can ask half of the girls in the school, most of them she has slept with. Even that fan club of hers and I'm pretty sure you're next on the list," he said in a matter of fact tone. I looked at him shocked.
"Are you sure? She seems like a nice person though, there has to be more than that reason not to like her," I said, looking at him with my eyebrows raised.
"Yea, there is. Ash and I were best friends until she took my girlfriend. I caught them together one day" He said through clenched teeth.
"Look, just stay away from her."
"Well, it's not like she going to talk to me today anyway," I told him, frowning about what happened yesterday and today's news from Declan.
"Why?" He asked, clearly confused
"Well, I kind of ignored her yesterday after I found out she was a girl at gym," I said still frowning at my actions.
"You didn't know she was a girl!," He laughed as I glared at him
"It's not funny! It's not like you can tell," I mumbled
"Look, I have to get to class. I'll see you at physics and remember what I said!" He turned and ran down the hallway.
I turned to my classroom door, took a deep breath and entered. When I entered, I saw Aly and Ash talking, Ash seemed irritated and Aly looked like she was enjoying it. I walked down the aisle and sat between Ash and Alex. Alex immediately turned to me and started flirting. God, he's annoying. I tried to ignore him and snuck a glance at Ash who seemed to be glaring daggers into the chalkboard clearly ignoring me like I was ignoring her. I couldn't help, but feel sad that she wasn't talking to me, but then again I'm not trying to talk to her either. The teacher finally came in to start class.
Classes went pretty fast today it's lunchtime already meaning three more classes and I can leave. Oh, did I mention I met a girl named Samantha today? She seems like a decent nice person. She has strawberry blonde hair and hazel eyes, she has an outgoing personality that just sucks you in, which is why I'm currently sitting with her and her friends at lunch. They seem like nice people. To my left is Amber she's really quiet. She has dark brown curls and big brown eyes, but she keeps them covered with her glasses. Next to her is Matt. He's on the football team. He has a buzz cut that suits him; he's also loud and obnoxious in a good way. Oh, and he's also Amber's boyfriend, they complement each other well. Now across from me is Tristan. He has black hair in an emo type cut with two snakebites. Also, he speaks when he feels it's necessary which is mostly never, but he seems like a kind person. Now, next to him is Jenna. She's really hype for some reason and always asks me questions. It annoys me, but I know she means well.
"So, Gabriel, what made you sit with us?" Jenna asked.
"That's rude, Jenna! What did I tell you about that?" Samantha scolded her like a child and Jenna pouted. I laughed at them.
"It's okay, we weren't really getting along you could say," nodding my head in the direction of Ash's table, where she was still glaring into space until a random girl came over to her and whispered something in her ear. She smirked, stood up, grabbed the girl's hand and left out the cafeteria. Well, I guess that confirms what Declan was talking about. I shook my head and turned back to Samantha who was looking at me strangely.
"What?" I asked
"Nothing," she still had the same expression on her face.
"Does she do that a lot?" I asked referring to Ash.
"Yes, it's normal," She said shrugging her shoulder.
"Oh," I looked at the door Ash just went through.
"You like her, don't you," Samantha said
"No, no, I just met her the other day and I'm straight," I replied quickly, feeling heat come to my face as I blushed.
"That doesn't mean anything," Samantha replied to me before dropping the subject.
"You going to the party next Friday? It's supposed to be a back to school party at Brent's. His parents aren't going to be there. I heard they went to Spain for a few weeks," Matt asked me. I looked at them and furrowed my eyebrows.
"I don't know, I don't really know anybody and I.." I started, but was cut off by Samantha.
"Come on, you have to go! It's your first party here and you can't miss it! Pleaseeeeeee come!" She begged me with pleading eyes. I sighed.
"Okay, I'll go," I gave in reluctantly and she squealed in delight along with Jenna who was bouncing in her seat.
"You know what that means?!" Jenna asked excitedly with a twinkle in her eye
"No, not really," I looked at her, confused.
"Silly, it means shopping!" She squealed.
"But it isn't until next week," I told her.
"Trust me, it's going to go fast. We can go shopping this weekend for our clothes," Samantha said
I nodded my head agreeing. The bell finally rung and I made my way to my next class.
(Ash POV)
I watched as Gabriel walked into the cafeteria and made her way over to other table. Figures she would.
"Why isn't Gabriel sitting with us?" Alex asked looking towards her table.
"Maybe you scared her away Alex," Sean grinned at Alex who frowned.
"It wasn't me, it was Ash, she did something!" He looked at me and glared,
"Me! I didn't do anything to her yesterday or today."
"Well, you did ignore her in class. No wonder she doesn't want to sit with us," Alex said accusingly.
" I didn't ignore her, she ignored me so drop it," I told him glaring.
In my sight of glaring I noticed Rachel walking towards our table grinning. Rachel is actually a nice person who likes to fool around with me every so often. She doesn't look like the type who would do that, but trust me; she knows what she is doing in that department. She's an average, naturally pretty brunette girl with dark grey eyes and she, of course, has a nice body.
"Hey, you guys," she spoke to my friends first while Alex drooled over her like he does every girl in the school. Then she bent down to me.
"So, Ash I was wondering if you could, you know, help me with something," She whispered in my ear.
"Really?" IÂ smile, knowing what she wanted
"Well, I need a helping hand with a problem that I just can't seem to fix myself; and you always seem to know what to do" she whispers into my ear again. Oh what the hell, I haven't done anything-in two weeks. I stood up and turned back to my friends who were giving me a knowing look.
"I have to help her with something, I'll see you later" I told them and grabbed Rachel's hand and heard Alex say lucky bastard. I chuckled and pulled Rachel out the cafeteria and into the nearest unused closet where she immediately attacked me.
"Well, someone's eager" I said when I pulled back. She glared at me.
"Oh shut up, Ash, and hurry up I have a test after next period!" She said. I happily obliged and pushed her up against the wall and kissed her. She moaned into my mouth. I caressed her body as my hand trailed up her legs to the hem of her skirt.
(Gabriel POV)
I just left gym which went smoothly, seeing as though Ash wasn't there today for some reason. I was walking down the hall when the janitors closet opened, hitting me head on, I fell back on my butt groaning. Just great, now my butt cheeks hurt like hell. I looked up to see the girl from the cafeteria that was talking to Ash. What the hell is she doing in the closet?
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there!" she apologized and offered a hand. I grabbed it and she pulled me up.
"It's okay, I wasn't watching where I was-" I was cut off by none other than Ash who came out the closet, pulling her vest over her head and fumbling with her tie. Oh, that explains why she was in there and where Ash was at gym.
"Rach, what's wrong?" Ash asked, but still didn't look up from tying her tie.
"Nothing, I just hit her with the door," she said. Ash looked up and looked at me coldly before turning to Rachel.
"Well, I have to get to class. Oh and by the way, you missed your test," Ash chuckled at Rachel's confused expression and left to go to class.
"I don't get it, missed my test? We were only in there for like 20 minutes," She mumbled to herself.
"Um, actually I think you were in there for an hour," I told her
"What, no, that can't be right! Ugh, when I get my hands on her I'm going to kill her, I told her I needed to get to class to take my test!" she fumed.
"So, you're dating Ash?" I asked curiously
"Nope, just friends. She doesn't do relationships or something like that," She shrugged, as if it didn't bother her.
"But didn't you just," I nodded my head towards the closet
"Yup, but it means nothing to her so there isn't a point to ask for more. I have to get to class!" She turned around and left, while I walked the opposite direction to my class.
"Gabriel, you going to the party next week?" Declan asked as I sat down.
"Yeah, why?" I asked looking at him as he smiled shyly at me.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go with me as a date or a friend, either one is fine," He said quickly looking at me nervously.
"Yea, I'll go with you," I smiled at him as he let out the air he was holding in. I think I'm beginning to like Declan.
(Ash POV)
"Are you going to the party next week Ash?" Rachel asked combing her hand through her hair
"Probably, you?" I asked as I pulled my shirt on.
"Yup, it's always the best party of the year," She said as she reapplied her lip-gloss.
"Well, then you can be my date then, right?" I asked I watched her eyes widen as if she didn't believe I just asked her.
"Sure," She eyed me suspiciously then left out.
I just finished buttoning up my shirt when I heard Rachel talking outside to someone, well, more like apologizing. I started to pull my vest over my head and walked out the closet.
"Rach, what's wrong?" I asked trying to tie my tie right.
"Nothing, I just hit her with the door," I looked up to see she had hit Gabriel. I stared at her and didn't speak. We were ignoring each other after all. I turned back to Rachel
"Well, I have to get to class. Oh, and you missed your test," I chuckled at her confused expression and turned to leave.
