Chapter 340 - Yao Tang — an Illegitimate Daughter

Yao Ran was so close to bumping into the vase behind her. Fortunately, she had been able to steady herself. Even then, she couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Her hands shook.

What was going on?

She wouldn’t be allowed to take the assessment?

Yao Ran felt her stomach stir in uneasiness. She tried to lean much closer against the railings to hear what they were talking about, her eyes wide in attention. It couldn’t be true, it just couldn’t...

“Yao Tang’s fault?” Yao Yuan’s angry voice echoed across the hall, so much so, that she jumped in fright.

“Was it not your fault? If you hadn’t been so arrogant by offending Mr. Yang, Ranran wouldn’t have lost such an opportunity! Why are you pushing the blame on other people?”

Yao Ran’s heart almost jumped out of her chest.

Her mother had offended Mr. Yang from the Music Association?!

Because of her, she had lost the opportunity to take the assessment?

Yao Ran felt her hands start to shake. Why had things become this way? When she had left the household, she had just assumed that they would get into another argument. How was she supposed to know that her opportunity would be taken within a second?

Qin Man, however, didn’t seem to agree with his thoughts.

“It’s still Yao Tang’s fault. If she hadn’t lost the invitation, why would Mr. Yang come over? If he hadn’t come over, then I wouldn’t have offended him!”

She scowled. “The only thing you’re concerned about is making sure that the environment is right for Tangtang, and never for Ranran. If she had reacted much better, then we wouldn’t have offended Mr. Yang!”

“Are you an idiot?” Yao Yuan snapped, rubbing his forehead. Talking to this woman was enough to give him a headache. “She is our biological daughter, Ranranisn’t even related to us. Should we not consider our biological daughter first?”

As soon as his words reached Yao Ran’s ears, she clenched her fists. A dark light flashed across her eyes.

Why?

In Yao Yuan’s heart, she’d never be able to compare to Yao Tang no matter what she did. She was simply dispensable and easily replaced.

As soon as Yao Tang had arrived, she was no longer needed.

Yao Ran pounded her fist silently against the wall behind her. Fresh tears flowed down her cheeks. If possible, she would’ve already burned a hole through the painting in front of her.

Why was life unfair?

Why did the spirits hate her?

Ever since Yao Tang had come, she snatched everything away from her. Not only did she take away her top one spot, but she even took her position as school belle and volleyball goddess!

She didn’t really care about any of that. She could take away as many titles as she liked, but why did that woman have to take away her home too?

After that, she heard Yao Yuan say something else.

“If we build a good relationship with Yao Tang, maybe she’d be able to speak up for Ranran. Upon seeing how highly she thinks of her sister, wouldn’t the Music Association give her a chance?”

Qin Man rolled her eyes.

However, when she saw a message pop up on her phone screen, she immediately sighed in relief.

“I’ve already asked around. If Ranran has the invitation, then she’s able to participate in the assessment. Mr. Yangwouldn’t be able to do anything about it. Perhaps, he’s only doing this to scare us, so we’ll be fine.”

Even then Yao Yuan didn’t relax. “We can’t let Yao Tangcontinue on like this,” he insisted. “We have to make her see us in a new light. Don’t you think it’s time to put this feud to rest?”

Qin Man crossed her arms over her chest.

“I don’t want to go. If you’re so desperate about forging a good relationship with her, then why don’t you go with her if you’re so desperate?”

Yao Ran heaved a sigh of relief.

“Yao Tang’s our child. How can you treat her like this?”

“Our child? Are you sure she’s my biological daughter?” Qin Man scoffed. “Is she not your illegitimate daughter?”

Yao Ran froze.
