At the end of the day, the Meng family had still been generous to them. They might have been treating Yao Ran as a guinea pig for Meng Ling’s treatment, but that didn’t change the fact that they had spent a lot of money on her daughter.

And yet, Yao Ran had walked out on them like that.

Shortly after Madam Meng and Meng Ling arrived home, they chased Qin Man out and banned her from entering the hospital again.

Needless to say, Qin Man refused to bore this insult, so she packed her bags and returned to City A without a second thought.

By the time she calmed down, she found that she couldn’t contact Yao Ran at all. The girl did not answer her calls or replied to her messages.

Worst of all, Qin Man had no idea where her daughter had gone.

Knowing that Yao Rong and his family would be at Old Madam Yao’s birthday banquet, she wasted no time dressing up and hurrying over.

Ranran was last seen with Yao Tang, after all. She should be able to get some information out of her adoptive parents.

And so, Qin Man was taken aback by Jiang Wan’s reaction.

“What are you saying? Your Yao Tang has abducted our Ranran, and here you are, acting like you don’t know anything? Who are you putting up a show for, huh?”

Qin Man was so angry that she wasn’t able to hold back from questioning her sister-in-law aggressively.

How could Jiang Wan defend Yao Tang after what she had done to Ranran?

“Yao Ran is a young adult who can think perfectly well for herself,” Jiang Wan retorted. “How can she be abducted, and by her own cousin, no less? Perhaps she just wanted to take a breather somewhere. In any case, her disappearance has nothing to do with my Tangtang.”

Yao Tang had always been a good and obedient child. She would never do such a thing.

Jiang Wan refused to believe Qin Man’s words. For all they knew, Yao Ran must have run away by herself and made it look like Yao Tang was the one to blame.

“What are you causing a ruckus for?” Old Madam Yao suddenly snapped at Qin Man.

“You’re the one who didn’t take proper care of the child! How dare you barge in here and make a scene?”

She, too, knew that Yao Tang would never do anything out of line. The old lady couldn’t say the same about Yao Ran, however. That girl’s eyes were always darting all over the place. Even an idiot could tell that she was constantly scheming.

Old Madam Yao was willing to bet money that Yao Ran had run away on her own, and Qin Man was deliberately blaming her negligence and her daughter’s irresponsible behavior on Yao Tang.

“Mom, do you even hear yourself?” Qin Man asked in dissatisfaction.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“What do you mean by saying I didn’t take care of my daughter? It’s because you don’t understand the situation. If Yao Tang didn’t ask Ranran to stay for dinner, she would have come home with me. Now, we don’t even know where Ranran is. Am I wrong for asking the last person she was seen with?”

The old lady was really prejudiced, and she had no qualms about showing it. She preferred the ill-mannered Yao Tang over the well-behaved Yao Ran. She didn’t like Qin Man, either, despite the latter being the eldest daughter-in-law.

Qin Man wondered what kind of bewitching potion Yao Tang had fed Old Madam Yao.

“No,” Jiang Wan insisted. “I’m certain that it has nothing to do with Tangtang.”

Qin Man could spin her tale all she wanted, but Jiang Wan refused to believe that Yao Tang was at fault.

“How many times do I have to tell you? She was the one who asked Ranran to stay for dinner! We all know that those girls have never been on good terms. Her intentions are too obvious. Stop covering for her and call her right this instant!”

“We’ve been calling Tangtang, too,” Yao Rong said, “but she’s asleep and couldn’t pick up the phone. I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do at the moment.”

As much as they wanted to help find Yao Ran, they couldn’t even speak to Yao Tang, let alone ask her for Yao Ran’s whereabouts.

“How is that even possible? Are you doing this on purpose?”

Qin Man narrowed her eyes at them in suspicion.

This couldn’t be a coincidence. It was only six in the evening, and that brat was already asleep?

They couldn’t even make up a good excuse!

“Regardless of what you think, our Tangtang would never intentionally lose Yao Ran,” Jiang Wan said again.

“It’s probably your daughter who refuses to come home. You can’t blame Tangtang for that.”

Jiang Wan gritted her teeth and wondered yet again at Qin Man and Yao Tang’s blood relation. How could someone as wonderful as Tangtang have come out from such an awful mother?

If someone told them that Yao Tang had been switched at birth, Jiang Wan might have believed it in a heartbeat.

Old Madam Yao shook her head and sighed at her yapping daughter-in-law.

Just then, they heard a commotion at the door. Everyone turned in its direction, including Old Madam Yao’s little group.

A regal man was walking arm in arm with a young lady.

The reporters quickly jumped at the opportunity and snapped countless photos of the pair.

“It’s him, it’s President Yang! He’s finally here!”

“Who is that young lady he is holding?”
