"omg i haven't been to los angeles in what like 2 years?" i rose my eyebrows as we got off the plane.
i'm on my first break from tour and it feels good to be back in my hometown after being in hawaii for so long.
"everyone is hitting me up saying they wanna see me," i told zoe.
"you should have a gathering then," she shrugged. "that way everyone can see you at once since we'll just be here a week before leaving again."
"good idea," my eyes lit up in excitement. "we can do it tomorrow night."
-
it's the next day and i'm at the store shopping for food to make for the little gathering i'm having tonight with my friends.
"hi billie!" a fan rushed up to me.
"hi love," i giggled as i hugged her. "how are you?"
"i'm good omg can we have a picture?" she asked eagerly.
"yeah babe of course," i nodded as i put my arm around her so we could take a selfie.
we took the selfie and the girl kinda ran off screaming.
i chuckled to myself and continued to look through the shelves.
"that was cute," someone came up behind me.
i turned around. "oh my god," i slightly gasped. "um hi h- hasson," i said i was so caught off guard.
"hey," she grinned.
then there was an awkward silence for a couple seconds.
"so uh how does it feel to be back?" she asked me.
"great," i chuckled, still looking through shit on the shelves. "you know it's been years since i've been in california so it's crazy to be back and walking around like normal."
"right right," hasson chuckled. "well um remember if you need a friend im here."
"okay," i nodded kinda awkwardly, still kind of avoiding eye contact with her.
"um yeah okay," she looked awkwardly and started to slowly turn around to walk away.
then i felt bad.
"wait hasson," i closed my eyes as i turned to her.
she turned around and rose her eyebrows.
"i'm having a gathering at my house tonight," i started with a grin. "my friends will be there, you should come."
"o- okay yeah," she smiled. "yeah if you're sure."
"yeah," i nodded with a smile. "i'll um send you my address. i think i still have your number from years ago," i chuckled.
-
"are you dumb?" zoe asked me.
"ugh i know," i rolled my eyes.
"no i don't think you do billie eilish pirate," she rose her voice. "like what possessed you to do that dumbass shit??"
"okay mother," i groaned.
"what if leilani finds out?" zoe rose her eyebrows.
"she won't," i shrugged. "and even if she does, i'll tell her it was out of pity. which it is."
zoe just rolled her eyes. "i'm not saving you from this," she shook her head. "you're on your own."
it was later and zoe and claudia had finished helping me set up and make little foods and shit to put out.
soon, all my people started arriving and i was overjoyed to see everyone. i greeted and hugged everyone, telling them how much i missed them all. it was a pretty cool time, just vibing to music and catching up.
then there was a knock on my door.
i went and opened it to see hasson.
i honestly didn't think she'd show up..
"oh hey," i smiled.
"hey," she said with a nervous grin. "i brought beer."
i chuckled. "cool, come on in."
she walked in a little slow as if she was hesitant or nervous. which makes sense considering the circumstances. but she wanted to hang out so??
as she came in, some of my friends noticed her and their eyes got wide as they were confused as to how leilani's ex is standing inside my home.
"guys this is hasson," i told them.
they all spoke to her with smiles, but it was clear that they were shocked and confused.
then claudia came from around the corner and literally started choking on air once her eyes landed on hasson.
"billie come here," she coughed.
i walked over to claud and started whispering. "guess i forgot to tell you that i invited has-"
"are you okay?" she rose her eyebrows. "cause you clearly aren't thinking right now."
"claud she told me she wanted to hang out," i shrugged. "all that past beef is dead."
"but you don't think it's weird? or random?" she furrowed her eyebrows.
"honestly i don't know anything," i shook my head. "i haven't had time to think about it. all i can think about is what if lani finds out."
"you need to make sure she doesn't," claudia said. "y'all don't need to be into it while on different sides of the country."
i just sighed.
for the rest of the night, we all just hung out and had a good time. we even played beer pong and hasson was on my team. but after playing around and just having a fun for awhile, my friends started to leave and i began cleaning up everything.
"ugh what time is it?" i asked out loud.
"1:30am," zoe said with a chuckle.
"fuck," i chuckled.
"i'll see you later b," she continued to say.
"okay. night," i told zoe as she walked out the door.
then i looked over and hasson was the only one still here. she was gathering some trash and throwing it away.
"hasson i got it," i assured her. "you don't have to do any of that."
"oh no it's the least i can do," she shrugged. "i had such a good time tonight, thanks for inviting me."
"yeah no prob," i shrugged. "thanks for coming and helping us win the beer pong game," i laughed.
"i told you guys i had good aim," she rose her eyebrows with a laugh. "i literally could play basketball."
"okay let's not get ahead of ourselves," i shook my head.
"oh cmon," she scoffed. then she walked over and grabbed a paper towel that was balled up. "move out the way."
i then moved from in front of my trash can. she squinted her eyes, trying to focus on the target. then she threw the balled up paper towel.
did she make in the trash can? no.
she only missed it by a little though. it landed right on the side.
"booooooo!" i exclaimed. "pack it up, butler."
"oh like you could do better," she folded her arms.
"oh?" i rose my eyebrows. "sounds like someone is questioning my skills."
"that would be me, yes," she rose her eyebrows.
"fine," i laughed as i picked the paper towel up from the floor.
i went and stood where hasson was standing and threw the paper towel, making it into the trash can.
"ahhhh!" i stuck my tongue out at her. "curryyyy!" i exclaimed, hyping myself up.
she smiled and nodded. "i'm impressed, eilish."
"yeah i can do more than just sing bitch," i rose my eyebrows.
"well excuse me," she laughed.
"well um," i cleared my throat. "i need to finish cleaning."
"oh right um i guess i'll get out your hair," hasson said before walking towards my door. then she paused and turned around. "hey billie?"
"hmm?" i looked at her.
"i hate to brush over the past like we never had beef or anything," she started. "i kinda wanted to talk it out."
"oh um," i paused. "okay. but right now? cause i'm really tired."
"no no it can be whenever," she shrugged. "and i swear i'm not dwelling on it but the therapist in me just can't gloss over something like that if we're going to be hanging out."
she's saying that like this is gonna be a regular thing.
"well," i looked up in thought. "i'm free tomorrow if you wanna come back over? i'd say we could get lunch or something but i cannot be seen hanging with you."
"yeah i get it," she chuckled. "okay then i'll see you tomorrow. or i guess today since it's almost 2am."
-
it's the next day and i was grabbing some food items out of my fridge to make a salad.
"am i the only bitch who doesn't know how to chop lettuce for real?" i said to myself.
then shark started barking.
"okay shark there are so many other ways you could've responded to that without barking," i rolled my eyes.
but then he pranced over to my front door, and i soon heard a knock come from the other side of it.
i furrowed my eyebrows as i walked towards the door. "who is it?"
"hasson," she said.
i opened my door and looked at her kinda weirdly. "i know we said you'd come over but i kinda thought you'd shoot me a text before making your way over here."
"sorry," she said. "lani always told me i had a thing for popping up out of nowhere," she chuckled as she walked in.
"and unannounced," i added, blinking my eyes quickly as i shut the door.
"well are you hungry?" i sighed. "i was about to make a salad."
"oh sure. what kind you making?" she asked.
"just a regular house salad," i shrugged.
"you put peppers in yours?" she rose her eyebrows.
"no i don't wanna shit for days," i shook my head.
"cmon," she tilted her head. "try it. you have peppers here?"
"uh yeah," i shrugged, opening my fridge.
"here," she walked over to the island where i was. "i'll chop them."
"actually," i started. "you know how to properly chop lettuce?"
"yeah," she shrugged.
"great," i smiled. "you do that and i'll chop the peppers," i patted her shoulder.
we made the salad and it turned out really good. we then sat at the table and talked about everything that went down between us years ago.
"but don't get me wrong though," hasson started. "like i'm super happy for you guys. i just wish her and i could've left off on better terms than we did cause she's such a cool person."
"yeah," i nodded. "i totally get that."
"but hey thanks for actually sitting and talking with me about this," she went on. "i'm glad we got to properly squash things."
i just nodded and smiled as i took another bite of the salad.
then my phone rang with a facetime call...
from leilani.
"oh shit," i mumbled. "um don't say anything," i told hasson before answering the phone.
"hi leilei," i smiled as i saw my wife.
"hi baby," she blushed. "whatcha doin?"
"eating a salad," i flipped the camera to show her.
"oh my god did you finally chop lettuce on your own?" she asked in a proud tone.
i nervously chuckled. "something like that," i said as i flipped the camera back to me.
"you are so fucking cute," she told me. "ugh i can't wait to see you."
"i can't wait either my love," i blushed. "i want you so bad," i bit my lip.
but then i remembered who was sitting right in front of me. i glanced up at hasson then quickly looked back down, now kinda feeling weird.
"i want you too," lani said to me. "i literally just wanna submit to you-"
"um yeah," i cut her off with a giggle. "i honestly can't wait. but hey let me call you back in like 20 minutes."
"uh okay," she chuckled, being confused.
"okay mama," i rasped. "i love you."
"i love you more, my queen," she said to me.
she hung up the phone and i let out a deep sigh.
"um that was probably awkward for you," i shook my head to hasson.
"no no," she shook hers too. "that's your wife, it's totally fine. don't worry about me."
"right," i nodded, kinda looking off into the distance.
there goes that awkward silence again.
"she treating you right?" she rose her eyebrows.
"hmm?" i furrowed my eyebrows.
you'd think she'd ask if i was treating lani right, considering that's her ex.
"um yeah," i laughed. "yeah of course."
she rose her eyebrows. "no more secrets or anything?"
"okay hasson," i shook my head. "that shit is none of your business. you and i aren't that close."
"right right," she brushed her hand through her hair. "that's just the therapist in me coming out again," she chuckled.
i tilted my head. "yeah you were never good at separating work from your personal life."
her grin slightly dropped.
