here we are, again | billie eilish
"h- hasson?" i said softly as my eyes got wide.
"leilani," hasson said, her eyes just as wide.
i stood there confused as ever as i stared at hasson like she was a damn ghost. because what?
she stared into my eyes as well and then elevator eyed my body, reminding me that i am in a tank top and panties.
"wha- what are you doing here?" i furrowed my eyebrows at her.
but she couldn't seem to get a word out.
billie then walked in. "where's mar- oh," she paused as she saw my ex. her eyes got wide as fuck and she just dropped her head.
great.
"billie i swear i have no idea what she's doing here," i quickly explained.
billie just looked at me with this weird look. i couldn't really understand why. hasson then walked inside the house and closed the door, but she still remained silent.
"hasson i don't know what you got going but you shouldn't be here," i shook my head.
i know i posted on instagram that i was in los angeles but i haven't talked to hasson in years. why is everyone suddenly wanting me back in their life???
and showing up to billie's house to find me???
wait.
wait.
i turned to hasson and squinted my eyes. "how do you know where billie lives?"
"um," hasson looked down.
"billie," i turned to her, my voice now stern. "how does she know where you live?"
"i- i-"
"billie."
"i- i don't know!" billie exclaimed. "it's not hard to find-"
"shut the fuck up billie!" i yelled. "you live on the highest fucking hill in california!" i exaggerated. "you know damn well no one is finding your house unless you give them directions."
she just began blinking, in panic.
and that made me upset.
i looked at billie with so much confusion. "you," i paused. "you," i stopped because i didn't even know what i was even trying to say.
i turned and walked up to hasson. "you're not here for me, are you?"
she looked down and shook her head.
"you're here for my wife?" i furrowed my eyebrows.
"um im just here cause i left my shirt," she said.
"your shirt?" billie and i said at the same time, raising our voices.
"the fuck?" i rose my eyebrows, now angry fr.
"i left it here the other day-"
"hasson please," billie shook her head.
"no no no. why were you here the other day?" i exclaimed to hasson. then i slightly gasped. "oh my god are you two fuc-"
"no!" billie cut me off. "ugh fuck lani, hasson and i have been hanging out. just on some cool shit. that's it."
i just looked back and forth at them, being so fucking confused.
then i thought about it.
"so that was your shirt out there by the pool?" i asked hasson, making billie furrow her eyebrows.
"yeah," she said lowly.
"well," i sighed. "it's in the wash so you'll have to wait til laundry is done," i said calmly as i walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. "just come by and get it whenever you feel like since your bestie here doesn't mind," i said as i started to walk off.
"lani please wait," billie walked after me.
"no fuck no!" i looked at her with disgust. "you're friends with my ex now?"
we made it back into her room and i immediately went for my suitcase, digging through it.
"she's actually cool, baby! she's a genuine friend-"
"oh spare me the love story," i rolled my eyes. "i'll just wait for the movie."
i put some sweatpants on, put my nike slides on, walked to the bed and grabbed my phone, and walked out of her room.
"where are you going?" billie continued to chase after me.
"i don't know," i sighed. "i just need space."
"that's not fair!" b yelled.
at this point, we had made it back into the front/ kitchen area where hasson was standing still like that emoji.
"what's not fair b?" i furrowed my eyebrows, ready to hear whatever bs she had to say.
"how can you be mad at me for innocently hanging with hasson, when you literally let jacob spend the night with you?" she exclaimed.
hasson rose her eyebrows in shock.
"that shit does not compare and you know it," i said sternly, now even more hurt. "at least you have control over every time you see hasson. he popped up on me and i just did a good thing."
but billie just gave me her rbf.
"i just can't," i shook my head.
then hasson started talking. "lani you should hear billie out-"
"WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!" i snapped at her.
her eyes got wide. i don't think she's ever seen me so angry. she backed up and looked down at the floor, again.
you'd think she's posing for a damn picture.
"oh you two can fucking have each other," i looked in disgust before grabbing one of billie's car keys and walking out the door.
billie has multiple cars. sure she wouldn't mind if i took one. i honestly really don't care if she minds or not.
billie then ran out the door. "lani!" she ran to me as i was about to get in her car. "i was gonna tell you, i swear."
"when?" i tilted my head. "at the baby shower?"
"cmon why are you being like that?" she got sad. "i know it's weird and different but it's nothing bad."
i just sighed. "please move out of my way," i said as i got in the car.
i backed out of the driveway and called margie.
"hello?" she answered.
"i'm gonna kill her," i said as i drove away. "i'm going to fucking kill her."
"wait wasn't she just fussing at you?" marg asked. "how are you the one that's mad now?"
"because her new bff showed up."
"who's her new bff-"
"hasson," i said.
margie damn near choked on air. "i'm sorry what?"
"yes hasson literally showed up at her house while we were arguing and i found out that they've been hanging out!" i exclaimed.
"holy fuck," marg mumbled. "okay okay just come over to my family's house. you can stay in the guest home."
i drove to the guest house and ran margie in on what happened with both arguments.
"i'd pay good money to watch a movie about you two," she laughed.
"marg!" i whined. "the shits not funny."
"it kinda is," she continued to laugh. "it just keeps getting worse and worse."
billie's pov -
after lani left, i couldn't even think straight. i immediately walked back into the house and told hasson to get out. she tried to comfort me but i didn't even let her get a full sentence out before telling her to leave again.
however, i did tell her she could come back for her shirt later once i finished laundry. lani probably won't come back for the rest of the day anyway.
-
it's a couple hours later, now afternoon and hasson has come back for her shirt. but soon as she walked in, she tried acting like nothing happened earlier.
"don't peanut butter cookies sound good?" she chuckled. "i've been wanting some for awhi-"
"hasson what the fuck?" i said to her, causing her to now stand in my kitchen looking stupid.
"what?" she furrowed her eyebrows.
"you know what!" i said.
"i'm sorry i just came for my shirt that i left from swimming!" she exclaimed back.
"but you-" i sighed. "never mind."
i didn't even have the energy. i just walked away.
hasson just sat on my couch and i sat at the one across from her as we watched tv, but said nothing to each other.
after awhile, i heard a car pull up in my driveway.
"shit," i mumbled as i got up to go outside.
i got up and walked outside but by the time i was jogging towards the car, leilani was already backing out again.
"lani wait!" i continued to run towards her.
"you're unbelievable," she scoffed as she rolled down the window.
"get out the car lani," i demanded as i opened the door.
she got out and folded her arms.
"why is she still here billie?"
"i made here leave earlier!" i quickly explained. "she literally just came back to get her shirt because i had to finish the laundry and find it in the big ass pile."
she sighed. "i'll come in once she's gone."
"lani cmon."
"i don't wanna be around you and your girlfriend," she rose her voice.
"why are you doing that?" i got irritated. "it's literally platonic."
"sure about that?" she rose my eyebrows.
my face dropped. "what is that supposed to
mean?"
"ugh billie don't be like me," she shook her head. "don't be oblivious."
i furrowed my eyebrows, being confused as ever.
"billie baby, i'm not accusing you of anything," lani started. "but go back in there and look in that girl's eyes and tell me she doesn't want you."
i was flabbergasted. "wh- why would you think that she-"
"i dated her billie," she cut me off. "when you said something to her, i saw how she looked at you. it's the same way she looked at me every time i sat in her damn chair during therapy."
my face kind of froze as i started to think about it.
"hasson wanted me for a very long time and i missed every sign," lani told me. "i'm just begging you not to."
i was still silent.
"i'm not trying to ruin your friendship. i don't care about you guys being friends," she shrugged. "i just want you to be sure that's what she wants out of you. cause i don't think it is."
i looked down and sighed, not wanting to believe it.
"hasson is a good person," lani nodded. "but she tends to have a problem falling for the people she shouldn't be. i'm sorry."
lani then walked past me and into the house. i came in behind her and watched as she noticed hasson sitting on the couch.
hasson's body kind of tensed up as she seemed to have gotten scared. lani just sighed and walked to the back where my bedroom is, not saying a word.
i walked in and just looked at hasson. "you guys good now?" she rose her eyebrows.
"do you care?" i furrowed my eyebrows.
"what do you mean?" she looked confused.
"why did you come here for real?" i asked.
"to get my shir-"
"but why didn't you text me before hand?" i said. "i told you about popping up on me unannounced."
"well i-"
"especially when i told you that i was busy for the rest of this week," i folded my arms.
"how was i supposed to know that meant leilani would be here!" she exclaimed.
"it doesn't matter!" i started. "if i said im busy then i'm busy!" i stormed off and went to the bedroom where leilani was.
she was just sitting on the bed chuckling.
"what's so funny?" i furrowed my eyebrows.
"that girl is definitely meant to be a therapist," she nodded. "cause she is the best liar and manipulator i've ever met."
"what are you getting at?" i squinted.
"she just implied that she didn't know i was here in LA?" lani rose her eyebrows. "billie she liked the damn picture i posted when i said i was going to watch you perform."
my mouth slightly dropped.
"tell her if she's going to be a home-wrecker, do the shit right," lani chuckled as she walked into the bathroom. "i'm about to shower, you have fun with that."
i rubbed my temple as i walked back in the living room where hasson was sitting on the couch. i went a leaned towards her, putting my hands on her legs to hold myself up.
yes i still have on an oversized tee with panties.
"you left that shirt here on purpose?" i rose my eyebrows as we were face to face.
"n- no," she said, now nervous. "i swear i didn't know lani was gonna be here when i left the other day."
"maybe not at that moment but you still wanted to find a reason to come here," i started. "and i know you liked lani's post. so you knew she was here when you hopped in your little audi and drove your ass over here."
"alright," she admitted. "i'm sorry."
i squinted, looking into her eyes. then i licked my lips and slid my hands up her thighs. "why are you here hasson?" i rasped. "what is it that you want?"
she looked down at my hands and i could see her eyes get low. she was trying her hardest to hold back. her foot started tapping and she started stuttering.
"um- i-"
"just tell me what you want," i looked at her lips.
"you."
"me?" i smirked.
"yeah," she nodded, her face looked as if this was pleasing her alone.
"get out."
"huh?" she snapped back to reality.
"i'm literally married," i backed away from her. "the whole reason you befriended me in the first place is cause you have a crush on me, huh?"
"billie cmon-" she stood up.
"just leave," i shook my head. "and please take the damn shirt this time."
