Chapter 25 - His ways
The Devil Wears Armani
Sophia's P.O.V.
We told our parents about my pregnancy. Everybody was so happy. I got up in the morning and put on my clothes. I looked at myself in the mirror. My stomach was beginning to show. I placed my hand on my stomach, feeling the tiny bump. "My baby."
I saw Xander in the mirror. He was watching me, leaning against the wall and our eyes met. He smiled and came close to me. He hugged me from behind and placed his hand on my stomach. I leaned my cheek against his cheek.
"I love you, my angels."
"We love you too."
We got ready and left together.
I went to the company. I called my secretary once I was settled in my office. I asked her about the Moretti project. But, she told me that my father had managed it already. Why? I was dealing with this project. My father had told me that I was going to deal with it. I called my father. He said he wanted to talk to me as well and was coming to my office. I was waiting for my father in my office.
"My beautiful daughter, how are you? How's my grandchild?"
"We're fine, dad. You dealt with the Moretâ¦"
"Yeah, I was going to talk to you about it. I donât want you to get tired. You're pregnant and you need to rest."
"Dad, I work in this company too. And, I donât get so tired. Iâm taking care of myself."
"You need to rest at home. Your mother and Xander agree with me too."
"Dadâ¦wait a minute. Did Xander talk to you about this?" I got angry. I talked to Xander about this. Now the opening of this topic again annoyed me.
"Daughter, he thinks about you. And he is right. Xander told me that he didnât want you to get tired. He talked to you, but you didnât listen to him. He wanted me to help him."
"But I talked to him already. I told him I would work until I got closer to my due date."
"My daughter, this topic is closed. I will deal with a part of your work; the other part will be dealt by Mr. Scott. Now get ready and go home. Rest."
My father left the office without letting me say anything. I was angry. I took my bag and left. Luke was waiting for me.
"We're going to Xander's company."
"Okay, Mrs. Knight."
I was squeezing the strap of my bag in the car. I was annoyed. He went behind my back and received support from my dad.
We arrived at his company. I quickly got out of the car.
"Amelia, good morning. Is Xander in his office?"
"Yes, but he isâ¦"
I entered his room without listening to her. I opened the door without knocking. When I opened the door, everybody turned to me. Xander was staring at me surprised.
"We need to talk," I told him seriously.
"I'm in a meetingâ¦"
"Now, Xander!"
He rolled his eyes. But I didn't care how annoyed he might be. He played games behind my back and then told me that he was at a meeting. He needs to pray that I donât shatter his company.
"We will continue the meeting later," Xander told his associates.
Everybody left the room. Xander sat in his seat.
"What is this important thing you want to talk about?"
He was making fun of me. My anger only increased with his attitude. I put my bag in the seat and asked angrily, "Are you kidding me?"
"No." He leaned back in his seat. I took a deep breath. Look at his comfort!
"You talked to my dad! He kicked me out of the company!"
He pressed his lips together in an amusing expression. He wanted to laugh. "And?"
"Donât make me madder than what I already am, Xander. Donât act like you donât know anything; it's you. We had an agreement."
"Yeah, but I didnât say how long it would last."
"I'm not your employee; I'm your wife. I decide how long I will work."
"It's late now, beautiful. I talked to your father and he agreed with me. Now, you donât have a job."
"You canât do this. I canât believe how you make everyone do what you want them to do. Everybody does what you say?! You even convinced my father."
"Not everyone, as you are fighting with me now," he smirked at me and continued, "try to understand me, Sophia. I donât want you to get tired."
I didnât feel fine. My head was spinning.
Xander's P.O.V.
I didnât want her to work anymore. I was afraid that she would get tired a lot. That was why I talked to her father. He said he shared the same opinion as me. But, she freaked out.
I kept myself from laughing hard when she barged into my room. I was sure that she was going to do this when she had heard about it. My beautiful stubborn wife.
Suddenly her face went pale though. I stood up quickly and approached her. I placed my hand on her back.
"Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.
She pushed my hand away and said, "Donât touch me!"
But I wrapped my arm around her waist. Suddenly, she fainted. I caught her by her waist. I scooped her up in my arms bridal style.
"AMELIA!" I shouted. Amelia came into the room quickly. She looked at Sophia worriedly. "Bring my phone and her bag."
"Ok, Mr. Knight."
I went down. Luke looked worried when he saw us too.
"Open the door quickly," I commanded.
Luke opened the back door of the car. I put her into the car carefully. I got in the car and leaned her against myself. I grabbed my phone from Amelia and shoved it into my pocket. I also took Sophia's bag. Luke ran and got in the car quickly. I placed my hand on her cheek and stroked it.
"Beautiful, please open your eyes."
I was so worried. She fainted because of me. But I did it for her and our baby. Why was she being so stubborn?
We arrived at the hospital. I scooped her up into my arms and went inside. I put her on the stretcher. I held her hand. They took her into the room. They didnât let me inside. I felt like time didnât pass.
Sophia's P.O.V.
I opened my eyes in the hospital room. Xander was next to me. I placed my hand on my stomach.
"My baby?" I questioned worriedly.
"Our baby is fine."
He placed his hand on top of my hand. I pulled my hand away. He looked at me sadly. The doctor came in.
"You and your baby are fine."
Xander's phone rang and said, "Itâs my father. I should answer. He must have heard that you fainted."
I nodded and he left the room.
"Fainting during pregnancy is normal. The reason could also be stress. Have you had anything related to stress? Did anything specific happen that may have caused your stress?"
"I am married to my stress," I said, rolling my eyes. The doctor smiled. Xander came in and the doctor continued.
"Stress is not good for the baby. You need to be careful. Stay away from stress. You can go when you want."
"Thank you," Xander said. Xander helped me to get up. I quickly left the room without waiting for him.
"Sophia, wait!" he shouted from behind.
He caught me and wrapped his arm around my waist. We got in the car. I didn't talk to him in the car. But I felt his gaze on me.
