Gu Minghuai held Ning Shan’s hand tightly and shook his head gently. “Uncle, Ning Yun and I have never been in love. I’ve always liked Shanshan.”

“What?” This time, it was Ning Zhiyuan’s turn to be surprised. “President Gu, is what you said true?”

This was completely different from what his ex-wife had said!

“Uncle, I don’t have to lie to you. I like Shanshan because she’s very attractive to me. She’s good at cooking, kind, honest, and treats others sincerely. Most importantly, she doesn’t mind my disability.”

Gu Minghuai’s eyes swept across his legs. He raised his head and looked at Ning Shan affectionately. “Shanshan, thank you for not being disgusted. I will definitely be with you through thick and thin, hand in hand.”

As he spoke, he picked up the young girl’s hand in front of him and lowered his head to plant a light kiss on the back of her hand.

The man’s deep voice was so attractive as if it could bewitch people’s hearts. Ning Shan lowered her head with her ears and cheeks quickly turning pink, and her heart was racing. The warm and moist feeling on the back of her hand made it difficult for her wanting to break free.

Gu Minghuai’s acting was too good. If she didn’t know about it, she would have believed it.

Ning Shan didn’t dare to look at him, much less at her father. She lowered her head and murmured, “You’re welcome. You’re very good to me too.”

Ning Zhiyuan saw Ning Shan acting shy and bashful with Gu Minghuai being so confident and affectionate. He couldn’t help but start to waver regarding his initial assumptions. Gu Minghuai’s words were very convincing. He would only know about her characteristic if he had really interacted with his daughter.

“Then why would her mother tell me that Shanshan stole Yun’er’s fiancé?” Ning Zhiyuan was still very confused.

Gu Minghuai looked at him, his gaze was firm as he replied, “I don’t know why Mrs. Jiang would say that. Perhaps she heeded Ning Yun’s wishes, but a relationship is a matter between two people. From the perspective of my family background, Ning Shan is indeed inferior to Ning Yun, but I have never been a person who despises the poor and loves the rich. I also don’t have any opinions about other families’ backgrounds. I only want to marry the woman I truly like.”

As he said this, he casually added, “The Jiang family has been short of funds recently. I think this is the reason why they are so eager to form a relationship with me.”

Ning Shan was stunned and asked foolishly, “Really? I thought my sister really liked you.”

Ning Zhiyuan completely believed them. He moved uneasily, looked at Gu Minghuai, and then turned to look at Ning Shan, his face was filled with guilt. “Shanshan, it seems that dad should apologize to you. Ning Zhiyuan laughed heartily. The depression and anxiety that he had been feeling for the whole day vanished into thin air.

“Alright, alright. I’ll listen to my daughter. I want to treat my illness well and see how beautiful our Shanshan looks when she gets married.”

Ning Zhiyuan beamed with joy. His mood was obviously much better, and Ning Shan was finally relieved. The three chatted for a while, once they saw that Ning Zhiyuan looked tired and closed his eyes, Ning Shan then pushed Gu Minghuai’s wheelchair out.
