“Really? Are you sure you’re not lying to me?” Ning Zhiyuan thought about it and sighed heavily. “If you want to be with someone like Gu Minghuai, you have to have a down-to-earth job so that people won’t gossip too much.’

“Dad, rest well. I’m going back today,” Ning Shan replied offhandedly. She packed up the thermal box and left.

Ning Zhiyuan looked at his daughter’s back as she left and sighed again.

Ning Shan returned to the main house. As soon as she entered the living room, she saw the eldest brother and sister-in-law of the Gu family sitting on the sofa, giving orders to the servants in the main house.

“Why does it seems that the people in the main house are blatantly taking salaries without doing any work?”

“Wipe everything here. Also, bring a few plates of desserts over. Hurry up.”

The eldest sister-in-law of the Gu family noticed Ning Shan entering and mocked, “Oh, isn’t this the woman from the countryside? I heard that you’ve joined the Gu family workforce. Make us some tea then.”

Ning Shan ignored her pretentious manner and greeted politely, “Hello, Eldest brother and sister-in-law.”

“Oh my, I don’t think I have the fortune to be your sister-in-law. Who knows when Minghuai will get tired of looking at you and chase you out?” The eldest sister-in-law of the Gu family pretended to laugh, her eyes filled with contempt.

“Honey, you’re too kind. If you say such things out loud to remind her, what if she starts using this as an excuse again?” Eldest brother Gu chuckled and hugged his wife’s slender waist.

“Darling,” sister-in-law pouted, “I’m just being kind. If she’s really capable, then she put on quite a show, after all, I haven’t seen a real drama for a long time.”

The two of them echoed each other’s words, putting on a shameless front.

The passing servants secretly gasped when they heard this. If the fourth master heard these words, the eldest young master and eldest young mistress would probably be in trouble.

Ning Shan listened expressionlessly and did not say anything as she turned around and went into the kitchen. Soon, she came over with hot tea and snacks.

Ning Shan was already in a low mood. When she heard the sarcasm from the two of them, she felt even more uncomfortable. She did not like to bicker with others. Moreover, as what the two of them said wasn’t the truth, she’s tired of mustering the strength to argue about that.

The other servants in the living room were even more silent, afraid of being implicated in the situation.

Eldest sister-in-law of the Gu family was dissatisfied with Ning Shan’s attitude. She opened her big red lips and started to pick on her. “I’m talking to you. Are you deaf or mute?”

At this moment, a servant shouted, “Fourth master is back!”

The eldest brother and sister-in-law of the Gu family panicked. “I suddenly remembered that I have something to do at home. We’ll leave first.”

The two of them hurriedly went out from the back door, afraid that they would meet Gu Minghuai.

Ning Shan began to clean up the dishes on the coffee table.
