Chapter 29 Really Good At Coaxing

The butler could not stand it anymore. He pulled Ning Shan to the side and whispered, “Miss Ning, today is the fourth master’s birthday.”

Ning Shan was stunned for a moment before thanking him gratefully. She started thinking about what to do after she knew about it. After all, she was living in Gu Minghuai’s house, so their relationship shouldn’t stay this stiff. Moreover, she had rejected him twice, which already made him lose face. She should take the initiative and at least ease the relationship between the two of them.

Thinking of this, Ning Shan tidied up the dishes, went into the kitchen, found some flour and other ingredients, and began to work. When a cake appeared on the marble table, she finally had time to wipe her forehead which was stained with flour and cream.

A maid came over curiously. “Miss Ning, who are you making this for?”

“To someone for making amends.” Ning Shan’s face beamed with a smile. She had made the cake step by step according to the online tutorial. The cake came out exquisitely. It should work, right?

When it was time for dinner, Gu Minghuai went downstairs. Ning Shan carried the cake out and bumped into the butler, who gave her a look of encouragement.

Gu Minghuai was startled for a moment when he saw Ning Shan carrying such an exquisite and beautiful cake to the table.

Ning Shan smiled sweetly at him. “Happy birthday, Mr. Gu.”

Gu Minghuai’s dark eyes stirred slightly, without anyone knowing what he was thinking

“I made the cake step by step according to the online tutorials without any help at all. Even the cream flower was crafted by me,” Ning Shan said slowly. She handed the cake to Gu Minghuai so that he could see the details clearly, “Is it nice?”

Gu Minghuai glanced at the exquisite cake. If she didn’t mention it, he might have thought that it was bought.

Ning Shan saw that his expression relaxed, so she deliberately lamented cutely, “Mr. Gu, I know I’m in the wrong. You’re such a generous person, so don’t be angry, okay?”

As she said that, she placed a candle on the cake and pushed it towards Gu Minghuai. “Mr. Gu, why don’t you make a wish?”

Gu Minghuai’s pitch-black eyes met hers, and under her guidance, the birthday ceremony was completed.

Ning Shan was delighted and took the initiative to cut the cake and share it with him. “Mr. Gu, since I’ve taken the initiative to apologize, would you like to eat a piece? It tastes very good.”

Gu Minghuai’s voice was slightly nippy. “Little girl, you really have a way of coaxing people.”

The girl’s voice was sweet and gentle. If she was deliberately trying to please someone, there would be no one who wouldn’t be soft-hearted.

Seeing that he was finally willing to speak, Ning Shan smiled happily. “Mr. Gu, are you finally not angry with me?”

Gu Minghuai’s expression was obviously not as cold as it had been a few days ago. He picked up a fork and reluctantly ate a piece of cake.

Ning Shan felt encouraged and was overjoyed as she saw that he was enjoying the cake. After eating the cake, there were signs of him cutting it again, she quickly put the cake aside. “Mr. Gu, save the rest of the cake for supper. Otherwise, you won’t be able to eat anymore.”

As she spoke, she pushed all the dishes forward and piled them in front of Gu Minghuai.

Ning Shan looked innocent and cute as she tried to please him. She looked like a fluffy little kitten with sparkling eyes. Gu Minghuai couldn’t help but laugh as he looked at her.

After dinner, the butler pushed Gu Minghuai into the study and suddenly said, “Fourth master, you seem to be in a better mood than a few days ago.” Gu Minghuai lowered his eyes and asked indifferently, “Did anyone make things difficult for Miss Ning today?”

He felt strange. If it wasn’t for someone bullying her, why would this young girl be so eager to delight him? There must be a purpose for her to try so hard to please him.
